Colony (1999)

In Flames

Coerced Coexistence

Melodic Death Metal

I already posted Clayman, so I decided it was necessary to post Colony, as the two go hand in hand. Whereas Clayman was In Flames' most melodic endovour yet(at that time), Colony, released a year before that, is not dissimilar to Clayman in many ways, however it is more technically impresive, heavier, and, at times, more melodic then Clayman. The album was also In Flames first album where clean vocals were used, in the tracks Ordinary Story, Colony, Insipid 2000, and Coerced Coexistance. Lyrically, the album is astonishing, dealing with themes of religion and spirtiuality along with several other themes. The guitars are audible-both the lead guitars and the bass guitar-and sound beautiful when needed, and heavy when needed. The drumming is-rather simple, yet blends with the music astonishingly. Some of the guitar solos on Colony are some of the most beautiful I've ever heard on a metal album.

Back To Black (2006)

Amy Winehouse

"Rebab"

R&B

Probably one of my favorites of all time, this album has gotten me through plenty of tough times in my life. As controversial as she was, no one can deny that Amy Winehouse was one talented woman.

Amazing album-it's just beautiful Best known song is Holocene IMO.

As soon as I saw in X&Y I started to edit my post, but then my mum had finished dinner.

HOW IS THERE NO METRIC?

Metric:

Grow Up and Blow Away (recorded in 2001 but only released in 2007)

Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? (2003)

Live It Out (2005)

Fantasies: (2009)

I guess they're pretty unknown out of Canada, which is sad because Emily Haines has one of the most haunting voices ever.

Probably my favourite song along with Raw Sugar. It's amazing. Pity it wasn't released on GUABA.

If I may make a suggestion to the owner of this thread...

I think you should put all the albums of the same artist together on the list so it is more organized. It would also make it easier to see if certain albums from certain artists were already posted.

Ziltoid The Omnicient (2007)

Devin Townsend

By Your Command

Progressive Metal

A concept album about an omniscient being-Ziltoid- who comes to earth demanding the perfect cup of coffee, and then declares it "futid'-which then leads to him he preparing to wage war against Earth. It's one of the most original albums I've ever heard-both conceptually and musically. It's one of the more comical albums I've heard in a while.
