How often have you threatened to quit the show?

"they better not or i'll rage quit!"

What kind of wanker threatens to quit because they don't like somebody else's idea?  If it really bother somebody that much, they should just stfu and leave, while sparing the rest of us their whining.

This might get kicked to sugar cube corner, it's late and depending on how in word this it may stay or it may go

Yeah, this is a thread for SCC. Meant to move it with my last post but doing these things from a phone is a real pain. I'll do so now.

It would be very difficult for the producers to break the show in a way that I just can't watch it anymore, and while at that, unleash the "i'M LEAVING THE FANDOM!" threat. I mean, what I enjoy about the show is it's world and how characters interact with one another, as well as the whole story between Celestia  and Luna and how they relate to the ponies. But I also like the upbeat happy feeling of the show and this fantasy of a world where it's inhabitants are so in touch with the very nature of the planet that actually see themselves, openly, as a part of it by interacting with it, like the pegasi do with the climate and the earth ponies working the land.

But them it's not just that. These characters that exist in this world are not there just for this. They have their lives and the important ones get developed into decent characters that have personalities, but are not too simple minded. For the most part, they are growing as they take part in the story. I don't watch too much cartoon these days, but this is the only one I have contact with that has this combination.

And then there is the idea of Friendship as this magic that permeates the land, but unfortunately didn't get much development beyond Twilight's journey and the power of the Crystal Heart.

So, I guess that if this ship sinks, I'll sink with it.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

I've never once said I was going to quit, both because I still enjoy the show and because I find that doing so with as much fanfare as possible is kinda immature. For the sake or argument, if something happened that would cause me to stop watching the show, the only way you would know that I left is I would just disappear and never come back. When ever someone says "IMMA LEAVING TEH FANDOM!" my only response is "...Fine, that's your choice. There's the door, don't let it hit you on the way out because this affects me not on bit."

I had an analogy for this a while back: basically you could be that guy who quietly steps out the back door of a party, or you could be the guy who jumps the stage, steals the mic from whoever is preforming to loudly proclaim "I'm blowing this Popsicle stand!" and thus ruin any shred of dignity and respect they had by making a total spectacle of themselves for attention.

Threaten? Never. At least not seriously. Sure, if they took some horrible turn that rendered it utterly unwatchable for me, then yeah I'd stop watching, but isn't that sort of thing normal? After all, why watch a show you don't enjoy watching?

Anyway, there are certain things about the show I don't like, as always, but I always roll with the punches, see how things play out. Maybe the show loses its luster, maybe it becomes better than ever. Whatever happens, happens. You never really know till you know; you know what I mean?

I've said a few times if something beyond unbelivable happened I would quit (Twilight marring Blueblood) but I think thats about it other than that I don't recall ever saying I'd quit

Never. I've never once thought of stopping watching a TV show that I loved just because the people who create it did something I didn't like.

I've thought of quitting the fandom before because some people just wind me up but I love this place too much.

let's love for me

and lets love loud

and let's love now

cause soon enough we'll die

I've never threatened to quit because there's no one to threaten who would conceivably care and I feel like I'd only look like an attention seeker in the process.

It's true that in general I enjoy the show less than I used to, and I'm afraid I'll always dislike seeing Twilight as an alicorn, but neither that nor my reduced enthusiasm has caused me to think of stopping watching it or threatening to. If I ever don't want to watch the show anymore, I simply won't, and hopefully won't make much of a scene over it.

I've only threatened to quit the shoe once, over Twilight's wings. I didn't quit, but I am mildly annoyed that they made her overall anatomy different as well. Such a long freaking neck... I don't even care about the wings anymore but oh my god does that neck ever bother me.

That's probably my biggest disagreement with the show.  I personally would've found a way to postpone Twilight's alicornifcation until the series finale instead of going through with it in MMC.  But what's done is done. I thought S4 Twi would look exactly like her old self but with the addition of wings.  I know she'll eventually grow to resemble the established princesses.  But this growth spurt is sudden and she's no longer the cute, adorkable Twily I've come to know and love.

But not even that has caused me to quit watching.  Barring consistently bad writing that insults my intelligence week in and week out, I expect to hang on for the entire series.  :)

Eh, maybe I'm just easy to please.

maybe not overdemanding as if you were the only fan of the show. Sure, we can be skeptical at first, but having faith on what the staff is doing makes it easier to cope with the changes. Aaaaaand no, I haven't threatened to leave the show so far, specially since I just got my first brony year

Never.

I don't overreact to anything, as I am mature as always to know to never end up like an obsessed fanboy.

Still, despite the moments that got a little out of hand like the twilicorn and EG, I never did, I'm always a faithful fan that always looks at the good and bright sides.

Never. And even if I did stop watching, why would I tell everyone?  ^_^

I'm not going anywhere. The Twilicorn thing was exasperating and hasn't served any grand purpose so far that I can see, but basically it's still the same show we all know and love.

The only reason I'd have for quitting is so that I could have the enjoyment of coming back again.

Never.

Because I'm not an over-reactive idiot that saw things like "omg Twilight is becoming an alicorn/they're making a movie where the cast turns humans, better lose my shit and rant for three weeks on why I'm doing social justice in telling everyone to write to Hasbro and complain!".

But it keeps happening and all I do is roll my eyes.

Never. I'm not in control of the show in any way. I do have disdain for the choice to censor derpy's name (the voice was a bit much..) but I wouldn't stop watching over it.

If they did something horribly drastic.. I dunno, maybe. But so far I've seen nothing to warrant it.

Would I ever stop being a fan though? No, never.
I like it because I do, that doesn't mean I have to like every single facet of the show, its content, or its fandom. And its just silly to stop liking something over a small thing.

  • 7 years later...

I never did when it was still airing. I mean I got bored of it and stopped watching but that’s only because of lost interest. The show never did a thing that infuriated me enough to quit all together or threaten to quit.
