This. I've been suspecting Rainbow Power for a while now myself. I mean, at my local Target they're definitely advertising Rainbow Power ponies an awful lot.

Second amusing observation - we could complain about the show, pretending to interpret the rainbow power as condoning "tattoos for young people". This would be a good way to change the story direction if the rainbow stuff outstays its welcome.

If you put the two keys connected to the Rainbow Power that is becoming canon in the show and to the box given to the ponies by the Tree of Harmony as a gift for the return of the Elements of Harmony as well as the other keys that are soon to be coming up, it could be something that's similar to the Matrix or perhaps even greater.

 

It's a stretch and it means spoilers but I'm predicting that it's the Rainbow Power itself in that box.
