DivineDefender1000 71,361 March 6, 2020 Share March 6, 2020 Sonic Unleashed is definitely one! How can ANYONE think that this is worse than Sonic 06? Unleashed has AMAZING graphics, a phenomenal soundtrack and story, gameplay is very fun and unique and varied and I love all the different world destinations! 4/10? NO WAY!! 9/10 is more like it! It has its fans, but I've never seen many people talk about it after its release in 2010, which is a shame. It's one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. Between the engaging story and enthralling environment, it's hard not to be sucked into this world. The only thing that breaks the illusion is the terrible lip-syncing. Otherwise, great experience. Honestly, it's the bland narration that was the low point for me - fortunately the rest of the cast picked up the slack {Vinnie Gognitti as his agent? Hilarious!} That said, the gameplay was pretty simplistic and kinda boring, and once you got through the story and the pieces fell into place, there wasn't much reason to replay it. The dialogue writing needed some work, but the story and setting was definitely far less patronizing than the original. On 9/7/2014 at 5:31 PM, Invincible said: Ever heard of Anachronox? Released in 2001, this sci-fi turn-based RPG (similarly to final fantasy) has it all; dark humor, nice violence, gritty atmosphere, interesting plot. It's like, one of the least heard of games ever. I actually bought a CD on a discount back in 2003 i believe. Easily one of the best games iv'e ever played on the PC. To say nothing of the.... interesting party composition. I just wish we got a proper ending/sequel rather than the studio getting fired as soon as production wrapped up. However, for anyone who enjoys emotional rollercoasters mixed with Final Fantasy-styled gameplay, it's a huge recommendation. On 2/5/2014 at 7:59 AM, Mand'alor Dash said: IMO, Alpha Protocol is the absolute most underrated game ever made. It's a stunningly well-thought-out stealth action RPG with excellent characters and engrossing gameplay, but it was sentenced to life below the radar just because it was buggy. Oh god yes. I picked it up late, so I don't know if there were any major bugs at the start {the worst I found, I think, was loading from a checkpoint sometimes cleared the enemies from previous/current area, and mouse acceleration issues} but the game had an absolutely preposterous level of detail when it came to the choice-making part of the whole RPG aspect of the game. Honestly, my biggest - and possibly only significant - gripe about the game was the stupidly vague approach to the Dialogue Wheel Of Fortune that seemed to be taking hold in the game industry at the time. Oh, and there’s a Human Pinkus there I don't think I'd call Terraria underrated. Starbound on the other hand, while kind of okayish as vanilla, has an absolutely stupendous amount of mods of varying sizes and impact that gives it the kind of content variety and depth most AAA games can only dream of. Including a mod with ponies/changelings/anthroponies. Current project: The Olden World audiobook What's to stop you?

Here No Longer 5,276 March 7, 2020 Share March 7, 2020 (edited) Shadow the Hedgehog. Oh the Sonic fandom's vapid attacks on this gem are hilarious... The game really is a solid, decently executed departure from standard Sonic fare, but apparently that automatically makes it a bad game. Contact (DS). I have no idea how such a mechanically genius game only got middling reviews and got absolutely zero attention in the states. The leveling system in this game is simply the best, most intuitive leveling system I've ever seen, period. So great, in fact, that alone makes it a GOOD game. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The Pokemon fandom seems to love hating on this game rather routinely and attacking it, sometimes for things that are actually GOOD about it compared to other installments... Diamond and Pearl in my mind remain some of the best mainline installments, and it remains among my all-time favorite installments, of anything. Though Platinum is still a lot better, Diamond and Pearl deserve much better than they get. Fallout 4. Honestly, I LOVED the perk system from 4. It made for more customizable playstyles that make for great replay value. Also, I can't find factions that are blatantly, and entirely evil (though the Institute and the F4 Brotherhood both are pretty evil, they've got nothing on the Enclave or Caesar's Legion). Not going to defend 76 though, for sure. THAT was a catastrophe that hopefully eventually ends Bethesda. Super Mario Bros. 2. It is EASILY the best of the 2D Mario games and why it doesn't get more recognition over a game that has physics that make you feel like you're running with a butcher knife in both hands is beyond me. It's unique mechanics and slower play make an interesting and worthwhile installment. Edited March 7, 2020 by Angel_Dust

Early Sunsets 2,107 July 11, 2020 Share July 11, 2020 (edited) MechWarrior 5 Mercs (the MechWarrior series as a whole, really. 2 is my all-time favorite). Sure, it's not great. but... Okay, nevermind, I can't say that with a straight face. Overall, it's absolutely terrible. I could go on and on about why it's so bad. But hey, at least the 'Mech on 'Mech combat is super fun, which is the only reason I bought the game. If you're gonna get one thing right, it had better be whatever is most important. Giant 100-ton machines of pure hatred and fury shellacking the shit out of each other, unintentionally destroying three innocent villages in the process. I'd say that's worth more than a 5/10 rating. gamecubeguy214 2,512 July 11, 2020 Share July 11, 2020 Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is a game that isn't very well known as far as I can tell, and I adore that game to death and I wish it got more love. It's a game on the GameCube about saving Morning Land from eternal darkness by wearing a "Legendary Chicken Suit" that grants you the ability to roll huge eggs around and defeat enemies with them. The game is a pleasure. Another game that people do know about but don't really appreciate as much as I do is Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. People shrug it off when they see that it's one of the games that use the newer redesign for the characters, and while I do agree that the series did roll downhill around that time, Banana Blitz was new and unique. Motion controls are definitely interesting and I think it's a fun and fresh new way to play Monkey Ball, but the characters have different stats and I love that you can use character choice to experiment and strategize for beating a stage that you're stuck on. It doesn't hold up to how great the original Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 were, but I think it's a game worth appreciating. The music in Blitz SLAPS too. Vefka 1,499 July 12, 2020 Share July 12, 2020 Control from Remedy. I've played it recently and it's absolutely amazing! And I was surprised when I found out that many players found this game boring and meh. Half of the gamers said that story, lore and characters are trash, but the gameplay is awesome. The other half said that the story, lore and characters ARE awesome, but the gameplay is super boring. But for me everything is amazing in the game (expect maybe main story)

Ixrec 86 July 12, 2020 Share July 12, 2020 (edited) It is baffling to me that people are calling games like Okami, Spec Ops: The Line, Psychonauts and God Hand "underrated". Those are the kinds of names that pop up on "best of" lists so often you can't help but feel guilty if you haven't played them (and yes, I feel guilty that I never played God Hand). I can buy that they didn't sell as well as they should have, but that's a very different question. Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is the game I came here to mention. But now I'm wondering if that's another game you've all heard of a million times and I just got weird tunnel vision somehow. Happy Heart 335 July 13, 2020 Share July 13, 2020 (I'd like to add on to this conversation. Everyone ragged on Final Fantasy XV-[15] when it came out. Sure, the story wasn't strung out to everyone's expectations, but it provides miles and miles of exploration; one of the biggest maps in gaming. Yet it's the most underrated Fantasy in the series. KatonRyu 1,033 July 16, 2020 Share July 16, 2020 The first games that come to mind for me are the Legacy of Kain games. Great lore, great, complex story, the best voice acting I've ever heard in a video game...but any hope for a sequel to Defiance is quite dead, since it's been fifteen years since the last game. YoshiFanGM 50 July 20, 2020 Share July 20, 2020 (edited) My list of underrated games would be like: Metroid II: Return of Samus Mortal Kombat 4 Super Mario Bros. 2 Catrap/Pitman (Game Boy) But I would also like to mention the original Super Smash Bros for the N64. Nowadays everyone talks about Melee or Ultimate, so much that the original Smash has faded away and/or not being played anymore. Smash 64 is my favorite Smash, and personally I think it deserves more attention due to its unique combos and mechanics that differ from other Smash games. And in my opinion it is the most balanced game in the series (coming from a competitive point of view). Technoblade 113 July 21, 2020 Share July 21, 2020 warframe. it's the only actually unique and, in my opinion, all-round good shooter game. it doesn't get nearly as much attention or praise as it deserves. even if you dislike shooter games, you should definitely give Warframe a chance if you haven't already (also it's free to play) (if you plan on playing Warframe you should watch this video) 'I don't wanna die from, like... death.' - happyheart
