A theory I have about Pinkie

Moved to Elsewhere

Recommended Posts

All right this theory might seem a little weird and not make since but this is just something I noticed.

I think Pinkie Pie might be afraid of bats.

Okay here's my reasoning for that thought. In Ticket Master, when the tickets fell on Pinkie's face she said, "BATS, BATS IN MY FACE!" It could be a one off joke though

Later in the episode Bats Pinkie is super afraid of Flutterbat, willing to burrow out of the way from it.

So could this mean that Pinkie has some sort of phobia to bats?

So discuss away.

2 examples doesn't really seem like very good evidence. She burrowed because she is pinkie pie and she moved out of the way because she didn't want to get hit.

Seems to make sense, but Pinkie also laughs in the face of fear regularly.

Like, those trees.

Also, ponies seems to vary from writer to writer.

Like, Polsky seems to make RD a bit of a closet softie, and Powell can go fuck herself for the way she portrays Rarity.

That's the realistic answer.

In show, it's up for debate or not; she'll laugh in the face of fear, or she'll be afraid. Who knows? It's Pinkie. Just don't question her :D She's a few apples short of a bushel, mind you :D

Good point! Although, Pinkie in episode 1 of season 1 apparently loves spicy things. Although, in Sonic Rainboom Pinkie couldn't stand the taste of the spicy rainbow.... This makes me think that many of the things that Pinkie does is on purpose in order to get others to laugh. It would make sense given that she is the element of laughter and all...

Powell can go fuck herself for the way she portrays Rarity.

*thinks about*

Oh god, you're right. Yeah, screw her.

Anyway, I don't think it's intentional, but hey, it's a harmless assumption, so yeah, I can accept Pinkie being afraid of bats.

Actually yeah. Powell doesn't write Rarity that well. She made Sweetie Belle her slave in Sleepless in Ponyville, gave Spike the smallest gem in Just for Sidekicks, and made crappy stuff in Rainbow Falls.

I thought Rarity was misportrayed by Powell in 'Rainbow Falls', but was spot on in 'Sleepless in Ponyville', so don't you think that's a little harsh, Ghost?

Don't think she was portrayed very well in either, quite frankly.

Honestly, outside of that Sweetie Belle thing in Sleepless in Ponyville where she had to carry all of that luggage, she was fine. But, of course, that stuck out like a sore thumb on top of being OOC.

Rarity can be a bit demanding, but she isn't a damn slave driver.

Pardon my French, but Corey Powell can go fuck herself, for all intensive purposes. I gave her 3 strikes to get Rarity right before I turned on her, and, she swung and missed badly at all 3. Until she actually can get Rarity right, I hope she loses her job.

Ok, if you think she's a bad writer and needs improvement that's fine, but Corey Powell most likely has a family so I think hoping she loses her job over a character she has problems writing (most of the show's staff have at least one btw) is a bit much. What if instead we just say she should improve her portrayal of Rarity or avoid writing her altogether?

I can tell you're passionate about MLP and Rarity, I am too, but I think sometimes we all just need to step back and realize that none of the writers are perfect and that they're people too.

It's not just Rarity; Spike, Rainbow Dash, Spitfire, and even Sweetie Belle have fallen victim to how shoddy of a writer she is when it comes to characterization, and she hasn't had the opportunity to butcher the majority of the rest of the cast.

She can get a job somewhere else.

Regardless, yes; she can greatly improve her characterization, because she is a repeat offender of making good characters look bad.

Alright, I can't say I agree with firing her, but I know that you aren't a bad person and aren't doing it with malice or entitlement as your primary motivation. You have a point that she has had some odd portrayals of the characters so far, and I guess it's your opinion. You are definitely harsher than me and that's ok, so with that said I'm just going to say let's just agree to disagree on this one (Rarity is best pony is another agreement we can come to).  :D

Oh the turmoil that is the Pink one!

Pinkie Theorys are really a great topic, my favorate is that she is actually the oldest of the Mane 6 and rather a failure at adapting to adulthood reflected in her still living with a suto-form of Mommy and Daddy in the cakes. But this is dashed by Flutters who clearly states she is older then Pinkie .

The only thing that Pinkie could ever "really" fear is being alone. Every time I see or think of Pinkie the song Giggle at the Ghosties plays in my head, so fear just isn't her thing if its caused by something besides her own acts.

She fears rejection, clear from her past by her family, and has adopted the one thing she is best at (making others smile) as her sole means of staying in everyones good graces. The new episode Pinkies Pride, add so much to this theory that I just applauded it. She isn't upset about losing her title as town party pony, she isn't even hurt by Rainbows words, what really hurts is the litteral movement of all her friends away from her. Pinkie is the most sensitive, but also the most durable pony of the group, depending on what is affecting her. She could laugh in the face of a legion of flesh eating zombies, or tapdance on the coffin of a vampire. But she crumbles the moment that [racism 3] in her armor is hit, that of her own self image.

Does pinky fear bats? Naaaaah, what she would fear FROM a bat is if one of her friends getting hurt by one, and they blame her for it.
