Ironic that with all the hype surrounding Fluttershy-Luna, the Discord-Apple Bloom matchup is the really exciting one.

In any case, the battle between Apple Bloom and Discord is a tight one, and it's stealing the show with the extremely close matchup with the underdog in the lead. I gotta say, I don't think I've been this into a match up that didn't involve Rarity EVER!

FINALLY! Fluttershy might finally snap that losing streak against Moonbutt! I would have thought that Luna would be putting up a better fight. It's nice to see the Flutter flock awake and ready to fight! This definitely gives the sweetest pegasus something to sing about!

 

 

But the really exciting match here is Apple Bloom vs Discord! I never thought Discord would be trailing to the plucky filly, but I think it's well justified. Let's pull off an upset, AB!

I don't think it's really that Discord's been ruined since his reform.  It's just that he's largely been employed simply for comedic purposes.  Two years ago, I would've voted for Discord over AB in a heart beat.  He's still easily the best villain the show's ever had, and he pushed the Mane 6 to the brink when he battled them.  Ever since his reform, however, he has yet to play a direct role in the grand scheme of things.  Yeah his Season 4 debut was pretty awesome, but all of his actions there were really in an indirect capacity, and ever since then he's just really stuck to trolling the cast.  Point is, at the moment, Apple Bloom's contributing more to the show as a whole than Discord is, and I think a lot of people tonight have realized that in making their decisions and casting their votes for Apple Bloom.  GO APPLE BLOOM!!!    GO FLUTTERSHY!!!

It seems Fluttershy has a nice lead on Princess Luna. So far, so good, right? Well Fluttershy supporters, this is no time to get complacent! Come on guys, this thing is just getting started. Fluttershy still needs our help if she is to prevail.

Why should you vote for Fluttershy instead of Princess Luna? I don't like answering a question with a question, but this is exactly what I said during their previous battle. What is Princess Luna's most remarkable accomplishment to date? Appearing in the dreams of the CMCs (well, it was just Scootaloo's last time). Then take a look at Fluttershy's greatest feat: Winning Discord's friendship. My friends, there is no comparison. The soft-spoken yellow pegasus is the one who deserves to advance in this tourney.

So you liked that, huh?    Unfortunately, I can't take credit for making or even finding that kick ass PMV. But here is what Heart's On Fire looks like in its original context in Rocky IV.

The Mane 6 are top-tier, but so are most of the princesses.

 

They all shine brightly, but going with Celestia and Cadence.

 

Maintaining a 1000 year rule without losing her love and appreciation for daily life speaks of a soul as bright as the sun. Through the eyes of an immortal, everything can seem so different; yet Celestia continued to shine through dark times, and now shines even brighter because of it.

 

 

Haven't explored Cadence's character as much, but love what I know. Many people call balanced characters a Mary-Sue, or just plain boring, because they don't have outstanding flaws, yet I'm always drawn to those who fully embody their ideals...those who really live them.

Holy crap, Apple Bloom with the upset!!!  Dang filly, you just took down the god of chaos himself!   I mean, Fluttershy winning as well is awesome and well deserved, but dang, AB took me off guard with pulling off that heck of an upset.  Sadly she'll probably be losing in the next round, but hey, she made it to the Elite Eight, that's certainly something.  Way to go AB and Flutters, way to go.   

 

Day 10 Comments

 

Looks like AJ and RD are handling the two princesses here pretty well.  Gotta say Cadance is certainly keeping up with RD far more than I thought she would, but that might be some diehard AJ fans just trying to make sure RD and AJ don't get pitted against each other in the next round.  Don't worry AJ lovers, I'm sure she'll do just fine against RD; I got a feeling that we can definitely pull AJ past RD this year!

Oh, man, what an upset!!! The little blank-flank CMC defeated the Dark Lord of Chaos himself in what turned out to be a battle of epic proportions!!

 

Seriously, upsets like that don't happen; the battle was intense, but in the end, the underdog came out with the spoils of victory

 

 

In any case, all my support goes to AJ this round Can't root against 2nd best pony unless she's up against best pony/waifu herself

In my headcanon, AJ and Rares are best friends Plus, in actual canon, there isn't a better dynamic on the whole show

I'm riding that Applejack high right now. I would've voted for her anyway but now I want her to go really deep in this tournament. She's grown on me so, so much in Season 4.

Apple Bloom beat Discord! All of my yes! This little filly went really under appreciated for such a long time. To see her beat the fan favorite villain of the series (and thus going farther than Sweetie and Scoots are likely to go) colors me very pleasantly surprised! She's had an outstanding season so this is very much warranted for the little filly.

 

And Fluttershy beat Luna. As a not-so-huge fan of Luna, I am thrilled by the results of that match-up. The Mane Six always come first, and Yellowquiet is a wonderful character worthy of advancing to fight Apple Bloom in the next round.

 

 

And here we have Applejack and Rainbow Dash duking it out with the princesses. I am pleased to see AJ's lead against Sunbutt is quite a substantial one, especially compared to Dashie who is almost struggling against the less popular Princess Cadence. Last year, Rainbow Dash's popularity around here was unheard of. She literally destroyed all of her opponents; completely destroying Twilight Sparkle in the finals. Now, it almost seems as if she's lost a bit of that thunder. I'm not saying AJ will win against Rainbow in the next round, but I am very hopeful that it will be one heck of a great match.   

 

Here's to the two Ashleigh Ball ponies stopping the princesses dead in their tracks and advancing to the next round for a wallop that I can't wait to see.

 

 

You know what would be a great final match? Applejack vs Rarity: The battle of the underdogs of the Mane Six. I'm doubtful that it will come to that point, but one can hope. I do wish Twilight and Pinkie Pie good luck too. If AJ somehow gets past Dashie, she will do battle with Fluttershy, and that scares me only slightly.
