I have a couple guitars, one electric, one acoustic. I used to play violin back when I was small. I don't practice nearly as much as I should, but I can play 3 chords. that's all that really matters, I think.

I play the keyboard (or you might as well say the piano) and the clarinet.

I just felt like posting this for whatever reason. Wondering if anybody here is a musician(i'm sure theres people :P) If you are just atleast say what you play. That's all thats really required. You can say how long you've played the instrument and whatever else you feel like saying. I'm just curious to see what others will have to say.

I play the trumpet. I played for 2 years about then quit for a year and started again last year playing for school. I'm currently a freshman in marching band right now and I love it :D. Our band is very friendly and we're all practically family, Its quite amazing.

Football games are quite fun aswell with the different drum jams and tuba jams as we call them that some of the band dances to(Including me).

And our band director is amazing. Shes the perfect balance of getting things done, while allowing for us to have those amazing random times where we have fun(She even joins in sometimes!)

What about y'all? I'm curious to see how many musicians actually post here, and what they say.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? :D

I too have had played the trumpet for quite a bit. About 3-4 years maybe? I never got into a marching band though, I stayed at high school concerts. Then I switched school and couldn't find a instructor and had to sell it. :(

I do plan on learning another instrument though.

I play the fife, penny whistle, and I'm just starting to learn the bagpipes. I've been playing the fife and whistle for about 2-3 years now and I've thoroughly enjoyed them!

Yeah one thing thats problematic about most instruments in marching band and such is that once your out of highschool, or maybe if your good enough collage. Then chances are unless your really really good your going to not have as much of a feeling of purpose for it.

Now for piano or guitar or something those can be useful for alot of things. Thats how I see it. Problem is. I don't have alot of time to learn guitar with marching band and school right now. And I don't have a piano because my mom sold the only one we had >_>

Very instersting instruments. I don't see those really anywhere around where I am. I'll be honest I had to do some googleling to find out a little about them. But it was insteresting to learn a little about some instruments that I didn't know about.

I did know what a bagpipe was tho. Never saw anyone play one here.

I have a recorder and I really like to play it a lot, even if it is a really unpopular instrument. Though my parents keep telling me I'll attract snakes by playing it, it's really hard to believe them.

Yeah, they used fifes in the 1700's at least and all the way through to the American Civil War (i'm a CW reenactor myself ;)) Fife is kinda like the ancestor of the flute and is more simple.

I played the recorder for a year, then stopped and changed to trumpet, which I have played for 2 years and I'm still going. I've also played piano for about 6-8 years. I've also, for some strange reason, have played multiple Chinese, Indonesian, Korean and other South East Asian instruments.

Yeah, Its quite an interesting instrument to hear about tho!

I could tell by just pictures of it that it was very closely related to a flute. I know it doesn't sound the same but it does look like an ancient flute.

Thats alot of experience with piano!

I myself love piano, however my mom sold our piano a while back so I haven't had a chance to play any. Quite a lot of experience though! And sounds like you've played a pretty decent variety of instruments.

I myself have only played trumpet and played a very small amount of guitar(I mean like 1 chord and It takes forever for me to even play right. not to mention how tired my hands get.) I did actually get asked by my mom if I wanted to take private piano lessons. Now that I think about it maybe it would have been insteresting, but I wouldn't have been able to play it anyways with marching band now.

I'd still like to have a piano to mess around with.

I'm actually starting to learn trumpet, and I will hopefully start to make music soon. It's going good, aswell. Our band director is funny, nice, and can play almost any brass instrument. Edited by Staron Shine

I play Guitar, Bass, Trombone, Drums, Piano, flute, Banjo, Mandolin, Bells, but I am mostly a guitar player. I taught myself how to play by ear. I also compose music for my schools band.

You my friend have quite the talent. And being able to compose music aswell along with playing all those instruments? Quite the amount of talent.

I'm actually starting to learn trumpet, and I will hopefully start to make music soon. It's going good, aswell. Our band director is funny, nice, and can play almost any brass instrument.

Good luck! I'd love to offer some advice or something but honestly I just natural start playing and I don't quite know how to explain anything about it. Good luck though!

And most band directors can to some extent play most if not all instruments. Just maybe not that great. But they proably have an instrument that they played in school. Like my band director played oboe. Although she can still play other instruments. Especially other woodwind instruments.

A musician is someone who plays or creates music I believe so I'm pretty sure that would count.

I can't say that I have ever tried to compose music but I don't think I'd be that great at it. Who knows though. I just feel like I'd be pretty bad at it.

Been playing the guitar on and off while in high school but as of know I have picked it back up. I have been practicing literally everyday since college has started up. I have been really enjoying learning songs that I listen to on a daily basis.

I play the bassoon, and have for very close to six years now.

I also got a tenor saxophone in the Spring, but I haven't had much time to play it. Such a shame because I really do enjoy it.

I played the piano for 5 years, I'm a true brass boy though, I've been playing Trombones, euphoniums and tubas for many, many years.

I've also played traditional instruments like shamisen, I'm not a fan of stringed instruments though.

I'm mainly a electronic musician, I've been producing for like 2 years and DJing for about a month.

here's my youtube and soundcloud, not much yet.

Little heads-up here - I found two existing threads about the musical instruments you play, and merged them together with yours. :)
