Can People Really Not Like MLP?

I have this friend at school who after I told him about Bronies, went ahead and watched the first two episodes. I thought for sure he would get hooked like I did, but I guess he didn't. The next day he only complained about the predictability of the show and how it was stupid and for little kids. I told him to watch a few more episodes, and he eventually got to somewhere around the CMC. But even after that he still said it was cheesy, predictable, and boring. I guess I have to accept the fact that he has different tastes, but Im kind of surprised seeing we generally have common interests. Also, Im amazed that he has watched so many episodes and still does not like the show. So I guess Im asking if any of you know of anybody who has actually taken the time to really watch the show and still not liked it.

Don't forget that the show is only 20% of being a brony.

The fanfictions, fanart, pmvs, music, comics, ect are the rest.

I know a brony who has watched very few episodes, but he's still a brony and he writes fanfiction.

I stopped trying to convert people, lol

Although once I did a long time ago, and he said he's actually already seen it a few times (And yes I made sure it was G4) and that it was girly because it had rainbows and unicorns xD Which it does but... I mean its kinda hard to argue with that logic lmao

Sorry about the temporary lack of signature, I have changed my name, so I need a new one.

Haven't met anyone who dislikes MLP when I've brought up in conversation. In all honesty, it shouldn't matter whether they like it or not. They should discover it on their own, and if they don't like it, let them be.

This is me, right here. Only seen as far as episode 15 and slowly making my way up. It really varies based on the kind of person.

Amazing sense of humour = probably takes to it

Completely blunt and serious = hater

And anything in between

Its really based on the kind of person you are mainly.

I don't have a very large sense of humor, but I'm still a brony.

you have to watch quite a few episodes in order to get to know who the characters are and how they behave. The first episode I watched was party of one and at first I didn't really like it because the story was really predictable (likewise with a lot of episodes) and I decided to start from the beginning and watch the whole first season and it really grew on me. I didn't know why it was but I liked it.... A LOT

It's definitely possible - there's never been and never will be anything that is liked by 100% of the population. All you can do is ask that someone gives the show a fair chance, and if they don't like it, they don't like it.

BUT.........he is having one of those developments when he watches something for the first time and not liking it.But in a few months. That will come back to him and he will give it a second chance.Which will make him realize that the show is actually cool and will mean something to him.

Of course people can dislike the show. Why wouldn't they be able to? Not everyone is going to like the same things you are. Plenty of people have differing opinions about all sorts of things. I'm sure that if you picked a random assortment of forum users here, for example, you'd find we'd all have things that we like that others don't, and vice versa.

Even within the fandom you see this constantly, whether it's whole genres of fanfiction, to certain kinds of fan art such as humanizations, or any number of other things.

The show may be wonderful, and we may all like it, but not everyone is going to. And that's okay.

Some people don't like certain shows. My S.O watched an episode and just didn't like it, but he has a wonderful sense of humor. Other friends of mine don't like it, but whatever, it's just a cartoon. There's shows out there I don't like, like Dr. Who. I have seen many episodes of it, but just don't find it appealing.

Well this mostly happens because your friend predictst eh reaction you wan't from him and his not fixing to give you that, so I think that when you're not around he's watching and laughing at the amazing show about flying talking ponies

People have opinions. Sometimes people just aren't going to like something. So, yes, it is possible.

However, preconceived notions and telling ourselves "I don't even want to like this" can harm our chance to like a show, when if we had an open-mind we might actually enjoy the show. Your friends complaints about the show being 'too predictable' and stuff like that make me believe that he probably wasn't open-minded. I, as a fan, realize that the show is predictable, but that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable.
