I can't believe I just realized this NOW.

I haven't seen any other mention of it before though.

Apparently Big Mac's Injury in "Applebuck Season" is because he lost a bet with Applejack.

In the previous episode "The Ticket Master," Applejack says, "I bet Big Macintosh that I could get all these golden delicious in the barn by lunch time. If I win, he's gonna walk down Stirrup Street in one of Granny's girdles."

post-24370-0-68312100-1422073363.jpg

Something tells me that wouldn't end well. ^_^

So did anyone else notice this?

Also, is there anything else in the show you didn't notice until way later on?

I noticed spike's bird is gone.

I wonder what happened to it. O.o

From these pictures (in "Just For Sidekicks"), it looks like he kept it for a little and then returned it to its parents I guess?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see the connection. From the placement of the bandage, and Big Mac's reaction to Applejack poking him, I'd say that Big Mac has his ribs strapped because of a bruised or broken rib. I don't see how wearing a girdle could cause that.

This thread appears to be discussing MLP:FiM in some way, shape or form. Thus, it has been sentenced to Show Discussion.

Big Mac's reaction looked like he was about to kick her. Since the supposed girdle was Granny Smith's it would have been too small to start. On top of that I'm sure Applejack put it on him REAL GOOD. :P Bruised ribs don't seem too far-fetched of an injury to me.

I'm pretty sure something like this went down... Poor Big Mac!!

I also just realized I posted this in the wrong area. Could a mod please move this thread to show discussion?

That's a good point where did it go?

I've don't recall ever seeing those pictures. What episode is that from? On the third picture (from right to left) it looks like Twilight told him to return it. Weird. o.O

Maybe she thought that Spike wouldn't have taken care of it very well or that its parents would have been worried. Edited by Blobulle

It's from the very beginning of the episode "Just For Sidekicks." I think they just brought the baby bird back to it's parents after a while.

Complications from girdles usually happen from wearing them repeatedly over a long period of time which Big Mac probably wouldn't do though the too tight part is probably accurate. There are all sorts of ways Big Mac could have gotten injured but from the looks of things it is most likely a broken rib.

i think the exact same thing. You know, since she has what looks like a bucket of ice cream from spike on her head. xD

I can't believe I missed that :o

I'll have to go watch that episode again since, you know, Tirek destroyed her library and everything in it and all. -.-

Thank you! I'm glad someone agrees with me. Big Mac's ribs are obviously strapped. I can think of no way on Earth or Equestria that a girdle could break or bruise somepony's ribs.

In the first image, you do know that Big Mac has his ribs strapped tightly with bandages, right? He isn't wearing a girdle or anything.

In the second image, Rarity is tightening a corset on Twilight. That IS NOT a girdle. Girdles are elastic and meant to control the "tummy".  They are not anywhere as severe as tightening a corset, which does take a second person for the more drastic variety. Even so, corsets go UNDER the ribcage, not on top of it. A corset can cause serious health problems, but that doesn't include bruised or broken ribs.

I thought the idea was that walking around wearing the girdle led to an accident, not that the girdle itself injured Big McIntosh.

Why would it? Big Mac does all the heavy work on the farm. It is much more likely that his injury was work related, and had nothing whatsoever to do with a random comment in a different episode.

That honestly would make it less likely that it was work related if you ask me.

Huh? You're welcome, I guess. I still say it had nothing to do with girdle wearing though.

B)

I still say that if it did, it's hilarious!

I guess I was thinking more of a corset, but there are girdles that look similar to a corset, from what I could see from Google.

Anyway, nothing that fits Granny Smith is going to fit Big Mac.

Applejack Enthusiastically "helping" put it on him is NOT going to end well. ^_^ The girdle itself might not break ribs, but I bet Applejack can. XD

Friendship is Magic part 1. Since I've just rewatched it, she was saying here, "I've been sent from Canterlot to—" and then gets cut off and Rarity daydreams about living there, if that rings any bells.

  Yeah, that actually makes sense!

What doesn't make sense is that AJ's letting Twilight help here to win a bet, so they're technically cheating. But in the next episode she won't let anypony help her when she really NEEDS help.

Hmmm, but maybe it's because she feels guilty that Big Mac got hurt. Yeah, it actually all fits.  B)
