i think its an interesting concept, and i can see it becoming cannon. However Hasbro has made it clear that the merchandise and related publicized is not directly cannon, so while the crystal heart spell is interesting, it not cannon until the show references the events. But, back on topic now, i agree with your opinion. Twilight and Cadence seem to be meant for a higher purpose. If you pay attention to some of the dialogue you might notice that they reference other royalty, however they are never seen or refered to by name. This probably means that cadence and twilight are special.

i dont think she is immortal now. If you pay attention you would notice that Cadence ages in the show, and she is an alicorn. Also there are episodes where they talk about a princess in the past tense, as if she was no longer alive. i only think Luna and Celestia are immortal (since they are sort of like goddesses)

i honestly don't see how this would work. first of all twilight is probably never going to be as powerful (control wise) as Celestia. Also i don't see how the CMCs could replace the Mane6. they are not as fleshed out and there are fewer of them, so that gives the creators less opportunity for stories.

Its stuff like that which really gets on my nerves. They are uninformed and just trying to create controversy to help gain more views, controversy is stressed more than truth because it makes a story more interesting. Also where did they get their info, i have never heard of a brony filing for disability just to watch the show. This just goes to show, don't trust the media.

Which CMC will get a cutie mark first?

Honestly, i think that DHX is trying as hard as it can to distance itself from the previous generations. The show was terrible in G1-3 and G4 is not trying to associate itself with them. Also FIM takes place in a different place than the previous generations, so bringing back old characters would not work with the story.

One thing i find Very interesting is how various media outlets portray the fandom. Before i sucked up my pride, watched the show, and fell in love with MLP i was turned away from the community by the portrayal in the media. I only saw the stranger side of the community and it scared me. I only saw the things that portrayed bronies as a cultish group of cloppers. In my opinion there are three ways that media sources such as TV, online articles, and some you tube videos portray us. The first way is Negatively, the second is neutral, the third is positively. The first category is Negative portrayal. This is the most common in mainstream media such as TV, magazines, and news articles. This is the kind of media which influenced my opinion on bronies before i joined the fandom. The first time i was made aware of the fandom was through a letter to the editor in the magazine GameInformer, when a reader wrote in defending the show from a previous anti-brony joke and the editor replied very harshly. One thing that always strikes me about the anti-brony media is how uninformed it is, and how it is stuck in the past of G1-3. The hatred often comes from people who are either uninformed or are intentionally trying to create a stir in the audience. two of the prime examples of this are segments from the jerry springer show and a fox news broadcast. In the Jerry springer segment, he gets two "Bronies" (i still think they were payed to act they way they did) and asked them questions about it. They replied in ways that made the fandom seem like a creepy fetish. In the fox news segment they compared MLP to "japanimation" and ranted about how it was strange and homosexual to like the show if you were a guy. The second type of portrayal is neutral. This is by far the least common way we are portrayed. In fact the only notable instance of neutral portrayal is an article on wired.com which provided an objective, neutral, and surprisingly well informed information on the community. This is good in my opinion, there need to be things that let people make their own decisions. The article and some of the more neutral things ive seen are not there to create a stir, they just make us out as a group of people who enjoy an off beat show (which is true). The last category is positive portrayal. This is almost as rare in main stream media as neutral. One of the main examples of positive portrayal in mainstream media is a video by a youtube channel owned by PBS called the PBS idea channel. At first the video started out as slightly negative, however it turned positive shortly. The video was titled "Are Bronies Changing the Definition of Masulinity", and during it the host talked about the positive aspects of the fandom and not just the cloppers and overly obsessed people. It focused on the idea that we are challenging preconceived notions of masculinity and that FIM is gender neutral. It was fascinating and it was actually one of the major factors which caused me to give the show a try. Media portrayal is one of the major factors in how the community is viewed, and depending on what you see first, it can form a lasting opinion in your mind. People who see the anti-brony material are likely going to share anti-brony sentiments while people who see us from a positive light first are going to be able to make their own choice. I guess what this all boils down to is that first impressions are important and mainstream media shapes them.

Does anypony even like the old generations?
Stormwind replied to Zach TheDane's topic in Classic Generations
The older generations were terrible. My sister was in love with G3 and i cannot stand it at all. Basically from g1 to g3 the show got progressively worse and then G4 (the current one) made it 2000% cooler- 193 replies

Who is Your Favorite Princess?
Stormwind replied to Champion RD92's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
its a hard choice between Luna and Cadence, but i picked Luna because i liker her characterization more. Luna represents redemption and being an outsider, something that i have had to struggle with in my life. I feel for Luna and i find her very relate-able. However i still like cadence, Celestia (even if she is a troll), and i don't quite see twilight as a princess yet. -
Is Rainbow Dash a hated character?
Stormwind replied to MJNSEIFER's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I don't think she is hated, i just think that she is ofter portrayed in a negative light because of her more masculine nature. While she can be a bit of a douche and the fans often react negatively the majority of the time, i find that she is one of the more popular characters for positive fan material then negative. Also Rainbow Dash is my favorite of the mane 6 -
Why do you think there are more male fans than female fans?
Stormwind replied to FlutterDerpy582's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Honestly i think the characters are more relate-able for the kind of guys who like the show. Lets be honest, the majority of the fan base fits a sort of nerdy, off beat, hipster group in real life. I find the characters share traits with people like me who fit into the previously mentioned groups more than they share traits with the target audience of little girls. What the target audience sees is a show about colorful ponies that sing and prance around. What the bronies see is a very well crafted show that expresses themes and characters which feel like they pertain to their lives and internal struggles. -
I don't think the change was DHX's idea. For the major episodes we almost always get two parts and get them both within a short time of each other. I think Hasbro made them do it as quickly as possible so they could sell twilicorn toys. I am not opposed to the idea of her becoming an alicorn but I think it was far too rushed. And as for the people saying she will live while her friends will die, I don't think every alicorn is immortal. Think about it, would cadence have married shining armor if she knew he would just die while she continued living forever? I think that only celestia and Luna are immortal.

Hi every pony, I recently watched cutie mark chronicles and started thinking about something I noticed. Of all the nine core ponies (the mane six and the CMCs) we have an origin story for all but one, scootaloo. We have seen twilight's parents, rainbow dash's dad, pinkie's parents, fluttershy's fillyhood, rarity's parents, apple jack's family, apple bloom lives with AJ, and sweetie belle lives with rarity. However I have never seen scootaloo with any family, I have never heard her refer to any family, and we have never seen her past. So, who is this mysterious young Pegasus? I looked around various fan sites and found an interesting idea: scoot may be an orphan. I compiled some evidence both for and against this theory and decided to post it here. I only use canon content (official and from the show or various merch) to give evidence, so no fanfics. Evidence she is an orphan ------------------------------------ 1: we never see her family or relatives ( and no, she is not related to rainbow dash) 2: she never speaks about home, family, or her earlier life. 3: scootaloo looks up to rainbow dash as a big sister. This may just be her being young but she sees dash as a big sister and almost parental figure. 4: scoot just seems to be there. If you pay attention in sleepless in ponyville than you may notice that sweetie belle has to get permission from rarity to go on the trip while scoot just says she's coming and does. Scootaloo also does not seem to do anything or go anywhere in particular unless its with her friends. 5: she can't fly. If you watch episodes that take place at the school than you may notice that most of the other young pegasi can fly, we also know from cutie mark chronicles that pegasi need to be taught to fly. This means that no one is there to teach scoot to fly until rainbow dash takes her under her wing. Evidence she is not an orphan ----------------------------------------- 1: this show's target demographic is little girls. While most bronies would be fine with her being an orphan I'm not sure how it would affect the younger viewers. However mlp fim is notorious for not being overly sweet and sugary (dragonshy, the whole impersonating cadence to destroy equestria thing, king sombra actually getting killed, etc.) so this is more or less irrelevant. 2: we have possibly seen her house. If you remember the first babs seed episode (one bad apple, I think) than you may have noticed that the CMCs gather in a room in a normal house. Sweetie belle lives in the boutique with rarity and apple bloom lives on the farm with AJ, so who does that room belong too? My opinion --------------- I think she is an orphan and Hasbro and DHX will not directly confirm it due to potential controversy. However I think the creators want the community to infer that she does not live with/ have a family. I would like to see some official backstory for scoot and finally know for sure weather or not she has a family. Until next time /), Cloud
