    That would be impossible. A movie like the one coming out this year takes literal YEARS to make, and the script has to be one of the first things to be finalized so they can get the voice actors in. You can’t do any detailed animating until you have the vocal performances completed, because you have to animate the mouths to the lines. They can take inspiration from fandom ideas. I’m pretty sure it was admitted that they did Equestria Girls because people liked drawing ponies as humans, but they didn’t take story beats from people. And I’m not a copyright expert, so feel free to correct me, but... While they can reference a fandom joke or meme, I’m pretty sure they could get in trouble by taking something wholesale. Because while the intellectual property is theirs, fanart and fanfic is derivative work, and is protected by copyright law. If they wanted to use it they’d have to ask permission and/or pay you.

    You know it’s weird... I’ve been officially moved out for more than two weeks now, but I still don’t quite feel like it.

    It feels more like some kind of weird camping-out.

    The original MLP from the 80s still has an active fanbase. G4 isn’t going anywhere.

    Daring Doubt. Sure it’s not perfect lore wise, as it opens up some weird questions, but I freakin’ loved it. Not only did it introduce me to the idea of one of my now-favorite ships, Fluttershy x Caballeron, but is was my boy Ahuizotl’s big return. And, as always, he was GLORIOUS! I can only presume they left Ahui out so much because his Flash animation puppet is so much more complicated that the ponies. He’s probably a pain to animate in comparison. But I’m so glad they brought him back one more time.

    Weeell... I am concerned that the animation we’re seeing right now is ONLY for the film, and that the quality will be significantly lower for the show. Hopefully they don’t pull what Kung Fu Panda did: Movie: Show: I’m just hoping that my suspicions prove to be wrong. Where did you hear that?

    Except for possibly Celestia and Luna, because they’re straight up immortal. Twilight, Cadence, and Flurry are also likely. But it’s unlikely any of them will show up. Is Izzy the Unicorn girl? She IS adorable in that little animation of her giggling, so I could get behind that!

    True. That’s more what I was referring too. Like if you just see some ponies in the background twiddling with a phone, that’s fine, but trying to throw in modern irl culture front and center just takes away from any timelessness potential.

    Oh I just realized, they probably ARE going to have more advanced technology. Because it says the magic is gone, and Sunny doesn’t have a cutiemark. With no magic to pick up the slack, ponies would be forced to innovate. But this give me shivers up my spine of potential pony smart phones... UUUUGH...

    I think it’s the small eyes in relation to the face that’s getting me... Granted, FiM eyes were freaking HUGE, but this seems a bit like a step too far in the other direction.

    I disagree. FiM looked more cutesy. But THIS looks more lifeless. I’m hoping it’s just because it’s the merch that they look so dead-eyed. Old FiM merch looked really blank-faced too. But these girls’ faces are REALLY giving me this sort of vibe: Come play with us, Venny... forever... and ever... and ever...
