  1. I really think it's just that "Woman" has two syllables while "Man" has only one. I think there are definitely plenty of forms of patriarchy that we see on a regular basis, but that isn't one. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but, even if there is (And there might be for some people!) something to it, it's that kind of attitude that makes people think feminists are full of crap. Nothing wrong with it if she's not shouting it from on high though.
  2. Personally, I think English ought to have words like ze and hir. I don't know exactly how you get things to change, but I just don't think their is a good catch-all. There are many time when it just doesn't feel right, or it's just plain confusing using a plural pronoun to refer to one person when I could also be referring to multiple. Every word feels weird for a while, but once it's in your lexicon it will feel natural, pretty much always. Although speaking of other languages, those that have gender neutral pronouns often just plain don't use gendered pronouns at all. Chinese, at least, has three pronouns, I, you, they (singular). Ta can be used to refer to anything in the third person, though in written form there is a separate character for he, she, they, it (object), and it (animal). For all pronouns adding men turns them plural (e.g. wo men (I plural) is we). In my opinion this method of handling pronouns is just plain better than English. You might not expect it but it makes absolutely 0 difference to the amount of clarification necessary, while making awkward situations (with animals, or androgenous-looking or unmet people) almost nonexistent. There's also less processing time while you figure out which is the appropriate pronoun for a given thing.
  3. Seriously. Best case scenario (By their logic) Sparity is pedophilia in the opposite direction. Animals that live longer also mature more slowly. Think about how a cat is as mature as an adult after one year. If Spike is indeed as old as the mane 6, since dragons live far longer he probably is still only as mentally mature as a tween. Age-wise, SpikeBelle makes a lot more sense; I bet Spike will be at an adult's maturity at about the same time as Sweetie.
  4. @ Lighten up. I think valentines is kind of a lame consumerist holiday that has lost much of what it should represent, but I can still appreciate the good of it, even being single myself.
  5. Right back at 'ya! Happy Hearts'n'Hooves to everypony!
  6. Heehee. It's funny, here if I have a (really scruffy) beard I can buy alcohol anywhere and nobody questions me, but the instant I shave it's always "Hey you've gotta be 18." Here in Taiwan the drinking age is 18, also they're way more lax about it.
  7. What, no cheesecake??? Not even carrot cake?? If it weren't for those two it'd be pie all the way but damn do I love me some cheesecake.
  8. I never watch TV without doing something on my computer or 3DS at the same time, so I just put more focus into that. Sometimes I'll get up and cook a simple meal or snack. I don't watch TV at home though, only at friend/relative's homes.
  9. Oh definitely Rarity. I'm sure Pinkie loves candy and would be happy to give it away, but I'd be very skeptical of her tastes. Rarity on the other hand would definitely have the good stuff, and probably in just as much quantity (Generosity!) It also seems like it would feel a bit more special to get candy from her, I dunno why. Although Applejack would have caramel apples and I sure do love those...
  10. Kind of out of nowhere, but god I hate hearing people who hate happy couples. :okiedokielokie: It's like, if seeing happy couples makes you so angry, you must be jealous right? Yet you claim you hate them because you hate romance...but if you hated romance then why would you not be able to ignore it? You must just not want yourself to be happy, and want everyone else to be unhappy since you're not happy, I guess? Sorry. I just heard someone say that they wished couples kissing in the park would die. It kind of pissed me off.
  11. Haha, I know. I was just remarking on how it sounds to say "Well I don't have a girlfriend, but I do have my parents!" They're definitely the reason all is good. Although ironically, it's sort of their fault I need their support. Well as long I still have it, it's great.
  12. I'd wish for the ability to be the draw with a godly level of skill. Such that I could draw, ink, and color a graphic novel page in only a minute. Man that would open up so many creative possibilities.
  13. The woes of being stuck in a foreign country with interests nobody expects a foreigner to have. -_- Oh well, at least I have my parents...wow that just made me sound even more forever alone. Really though, it's all good.
  14. If anyone's a nerd, I guess it'd be me. Almost all I use for entertainment is video games, cartoons (Western and anime), and visual novels. I don't care much about movies and I don't read enough. I draw a lot even though I suck at it and my efforts are better spent writing. I can code decently and I have created a website for my family.
  15. My grandmother on my mother's side is a Unicorn. uu My grandfather on my mother's side is an Earth Pony. EE My grandparents on my father's side are both pure Earth Ponies. But he's adopted, and a Unicorn. uu My mother is an Earth Pony. Eu And I'm a unicorn. uu
  16. Ha ha...ha I almost never clop but dammit I was looking up sunset shimmer the other day and it autofilled with Sunset Shimmer clop...
  17. I'm a furry too! I guess I'm not active in the furry community in any way, but I like anthro art and anything with that style automatically attracts my attention. For a while I used to draw furry characters and in the novel I'm writing now one of the races is furry.
  18. 'cuz I love Touhou, and Meiling is my favorite character. I'm lazy too! We have so much in common! Also, she's cute, and is such a badass she can kick a giant catfish's butt while sleeping.
  19. W-w-wait. Is Applejack secretly...Swedish? Okay. AJ, time to upgrade from waifu to Super Waifu.
  20. Sort of. If you're lucid dreaming you can make anything you want happen, so you could choose to rise from your body. I think that it tends to come from people who get sleep paralysis, but they lose consciousness while still being aware of being in the bed. So when they try to move they move their dream body, but remember being in the bed, so it seems like they are rising out of their body. At least, I think it's something like that. They are more rare than lucid dreams, while the majority of people will have a lucid dream at some point I think a lot of people never have OOBEs. I never have.
  21. An Out of Body Experience is when if feels like you're flying out from your body and can fly anywhere. A lucid dream is when you are dreaming and you realize that were dreaming. You could turn a lucid dream into one if that's what you wanted to do, but it can also happen while you still aren't aware that you are dreaming.
  22. +1 Applejack -1 Fluttershy Rarity 24 Flutter shy 11 Applejack 24 I have no such problem. Die Flutters! and come back from the dead 'cuz you're a vampire.
  23. I didn't choose the Twilightfe, the Twilightfe chose me.
  24. Well I mean Twilight is best pony. It's close, but ya' know. Bros're just jelly. Really though...eh, I think it's just backlash against the whole alicorn thing. I kinda get it and I do agree they should have been so much more considerate when it comes to that aspect of the story. Like, they needed to put ten times more thought into it than they did...but it's not like it has really damaged Twilight's character more than just a teensy bit.
  25. @@Pelate Hah! I remember Roblox! I loved that game, especially the Hide and Seek servers. I've always wished there were some real, fully featured hide and seek-based games because of the fun I had there. I swear you could make a fantastic commercial game around it. Though I guess it might not sell.
