Issue 9, after months of TYT, is such a breath of fresh air. The writing, the characterization, the faces... 10/10 across the board. Sweet mother of Luna, I wish G5 was being handled better than it currently is, because there's so much good in it, but it's being strangled with its presentation and release schedule.

Might've been them shuffling things around for the Netflix release of TYT(however that's going to work), or there's episodes coming up that coincide with the release of the next batch of MYM episodes so they paused to keep from overtaking it, or production issues caused a halt, or...any other excuse I guess

I unironically enjoy the TYT style more because, yes, it's simple and evocative of the infamous CalArts style, but at least it's consistent and not filled with the kinds of errors that plague Make Your Mark, which has things like incomplete character lighting, lighting changing drastically from shot to shot in the same scene, empty scenery, barely any background ponies, which meant they had to put the models they did have in places that didn't make sense, like why would Posey be in Zephyr Heights, where she's part of like six ponies that came to watch the sisters sing for all the hours ever? Yes, 3D takes time, and it has gotten better, but the slow release hamstrings any real excitement towards what's coming next Izzy, please, go get some sleep

How the heck has no one in that 100 million pony population ever gone "Surely the other races can't be THAT bad" and gone out looking at some point in the past century+

The sound mixing in this was awful, and what on earth was that song montage pacing where it looks like she's in three places at once? Cute message, extremely poor execution (And Sunny poisoning her friends and causing their life to flash before their eyes was a rather morbid note for a holiday episode, don't you think? ) Have fun with that dental bill, Sunny.

Knowing where Discord's character goes makes this painful to rewatch, and I hate that everyone but Fluttershy are portrayed as being in the wrong for not giving Discord a chance when he given them zero reasons to offer him a chance in the first place Some people are simply pricks through and through, and I hate that Fluttershy was made into the very thing she says she wasn't for the sake of the plot

Kinda amusing that Sparky knows how to edit together videos and set up a death room - kid's already smarter and more involved with the plot than the Cake Twins, Flurry Heart, and Spike combined. This was definitely written for the Alpha generation and I wonder if it'll mature as it goes on.

Twilight has that weird "not made with this generation in mind" style - her face looks so wide compared to the G5 characters

It's not the artstyle; she's regular-sized and doesn't have any regalia (granted, with all the animation errors in the trailer, it could very well be an incomplete model, or they simply wanted to use a Twilight people would recognize because MARKETING)
