"All magic comes with a price" (no exceptions) In the case of Equestria, it was "time" (the natural cycles of the world, and everything going from it). Ponies have magic inside of them from before they are born, they have a "noblesse obligue" with the rest of the creatures of the world to use some of that power to replace the component of nature its missing. Maybe cutiemark magic is linked to this process, like an hereditary "curse" linked to the "equestrian magic" they carry from born; waiting until they reach maturity to make themselves assign a role in their always changing world.

(again by G.M.Berrow); referenced explicitly by its name on MLP:FiM by Twilight [about the participation of Pinkie Pie in the events], in the episode "The Mane Attraction" [s5E24]. I am pretty sure those are in the same level of canonicity; rather than all of those "comercial fanfics" done by "comic writters" who had never worked for DHX in their lives [unavoidable prerequisite to ever read the "Bible of the Show" written by Lauren Faust and Amy Keating Rogers]. - - - - About Luna and the "danger": Since he was charge of the security of Canterlot, Shining Armor probably choosed to raise the shield by his own judgement [rather than being a petition by Celestia or Luna, his superiors]. Based on some vague rumors about a non-specified "threat" he could not track to its source (in a way he was being a bridezilla too, trying to make his wedding to go perfectly). The increase in soldiers both in the castle and around the barrier can be explained as an order from him (since he is the leader of the royal guard). This was probably against Celestia´s desire to mantain happy and un-worried the many (many) V.I.P. guests and general populace that will want to see the wedding. If there was any indication of a SERIOUS menace, the wedding would had being postponed. Luna did help with her task of being "vigilant", watching from the tower with the telescope; but she was probably more concerned with the later "damage control" in the dreamworld after such party [even if we assume there would be no alcohol by royal decree], rather than managing activities in the waking world.

Maybe because it is NOT "her" niece [only Celestia´s niece]. If we go by the (probably canonical) MLP book of Gillian M. Berrow "Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell" ; Celestia first met Cadance [in the "Twilight Zone"], when she was ascending from pegasus to alicorn at some point after the banishment of Nightmare Moon and before the Sonic Rainboom [s1E23]. This means Cadance is not related by blood to Celestia, but instead is an "adopted niece" [the same way the unicorn prince Blue Blood is probably neither a relative to Celestia or Luna, but rather Princess Platinum]. Given the doubts Luna had about Celestia´s plans regarding Twilight in the next episode [the season 3 opener]; maybe she does not like the idea of having more alicorn princesses around (who could eventually dispute her current rule over the night and dreams, the same way she did with Celestia over all the sky centuries before).

Friendship Games does not count; because that was another character: "Spike The Dog" (Instead of our lovely "Spike The Brave and Glorious The Dragon" ). Starlight Glimmer considers only Spike (The Dragon) and Twilight as her friends (the rest of the cast had not bonded with her yet). She has better chances of developing a relationship with Spike that Rarity will ever had; because she treats him with respect [even as a villain, she answered with sincerity a question about her past while looking him directly to the eyes]. While Rarity considered him completely superfluous [a mere "attachment" of Twilight] since the begining: [s1E03 Transcript]

The Friendship Games deleted scenes from the official DVDs has an alternate "director´s commentary" audio channel. In the scene were Sunset met Princess Twilight, she pays for her since Twilight only had equestrian coins. There one of the producers asks to the others from where Sunset gets her money, with one of the board artists mentioning she has a job and another one agrees. This is probably a fact that is part of the "bible of the franchise" for Equestria Girls; used by both the writters and the storyboard developers to check references from the "bio" of each character ; to avoid taking simple mistakes when developing a situation. For example: "Pinkie Pie lives with her sisters, but she has a room just for herself with a King sized bed"; [this may had to be added to allow for the slumber party in "Rainbow Rocks" to happen in a single place with all of the girls, without having to add Pinkie´s sisters (the kitchen scene with the cameo of Maud was a last minute adition)] .

No. It is not. Also, the portal opens every 30 moons (2 + 1/2 years); so she could not had won the FALL formal crown three times; PLUS being about to do it a fourth time in less than 3 years.

She DID NOT get the crown of the Fall Formal FOR THREE YEARS. She only did it once (the second picture) in the previous year. The first and third photos are from the "Spring Fling" popularity contest (who also had a "Princess" title for the winner, explaining the crowns). Since there is no mention of Sunset Shimmer doing anything nasty before the spring of the same year EG1 happens; one may assume she actually performed honorably on the first two ocasions. When Rarity joined in the competition, she started to mess with her (plus the "cyberattacks" to her friends, and the friends of her friends...); eventually getting consumed by the thirst for power and control that shows her face as the "human monster" of the third photo. This also makes more sense, as it would be strange for the humane 5 to break two of the three relationships they had to each others for more than a year [6 months it is already too much].

Agree about 2). - - - - But, for the case on 1): Discord was surprised when the Tatzelwurm came from the ground and attack them (he even asked what was that thing!). Not to mention he was not inmune to the disease the creature carried [meaning he never had contact with it]. He was aware of the sheer size of the plant that will "cure" his fake blue disease (he may had seen it before in the past, or perhaps read about it); with the real "challenge" being just flying there and unrooting/floating a very heavy plant on the right moment [the remedy is the plant itself, not the flower]; as it had to be colected at an specific hour. If he ever considered the posibility of a naturally deadly creature to be cappable to kill both princesses, he would have watched it from afar (if anything to see how they manage to survive, or who will run leaving the other to die). Then he will be not surprised later when the worm attacked again. Also, since he make it clear to Rarity and Applejack that he will had to go with Twilight and Cadance (since they were also "sick" ; plus Rainbow Dash and Pinkie not being "available"); then when they will notice the Princesses missing, he will become the prime suspect [since in S4E02 he admitted to be guilty (tough not responsable) for the series of events that lead to the capture of Luna and Celestia, another pair of Princesses of Equestria]. It is just too careless for no good reason. Even if he was being random and "without making sense"; the lack of the Elements of Harmony should not give him free card in the absense of Fluttershy [the same strategic planning for the seeds applies here, as he will take account of Fluttershy eventual return and fury].
