  1. I was not referring to the Iron Pony competition, I was referring to the Mare Do Well incident, where Dash was repeatedly shown up/ humiliated in front of the town. That episode's explicit purpose was to teach her humility just like you are saying. As for getting something to obsess over, she already has that in her dream to become a wonderbolt. That is well established With regards to making her look less perfect, it is plainly obvious that she is not perfect. This entire thread is proof that she isn't perfect. She is a flawed character, like any character in the show (and even more flawed than most). Even in flying it is clear that she isn't perfect as we can see by the fact that she hasn't joined the Wonderbolts and that she repeatedly crashes while attempting tricks that are too complicated for her. This is why Dash is not comparable to an undefeated boxer who has fought her way to the top, she is more comparable to a young boxer with lofty aspirations who is daily training her butt off to someday become the best. And it still rubs me the wrong way to wish defeat on someone, especially if that person has a well established fear of failure. I know that you think it would be good for her ultimately and you might be right. It might also be good for Twilight to flunk an exam to show her that Celestia won't come down on her like a hammer if she screws up, but I wouldn't wish that on Twilight because it would cause her a ton of mental pain and anguish. Even if her friends and even Celestia would still respect her and think highly of her it would still deeply trouble her
  2. For 1, I got that, but after they got Applejack why didn't they just go back and grab them? They couldn't have been all that far away,
  3. To be honest I never understood two things 1: how they got left behind in the first place 2: why rarity didn't just answer the question. I mean sure, Pinkie would have kept annoying her but I'd have answered just to get off the topic I voted Cherry-Changa
  4. In before the rage and butthurt! Ha ha, I slightly agree. I don't hate Derpy but I do think she is incredibly overrated as a character. I guess I understand how she has become a symbol of love between the show creators and the fandom, but that still doesn't make me understand how people can say "Derpy is best pony" when there are so many more interesting (and better developed) characters in the show. Actually, now that I think about it you're probably pissed about The Last Roundup. I can understand you now, if Derpy stole a Dash episode and Dash was a more neglected character... Sparks would fly my friend
  5. Oh my gosh, I just read a story called According to Rarity by dog0food and it was amazing. For any of you who read Shipping Goggles thisis essentially Shipping Goggles 2.0 (With the unfortunate consequence of less Rainbowpie shipping ). I started out laughing and by the time I was 3/4 of the way through I couldn't control myself. And THE ENDING! I laughed so hard that my brother ran from the other side of the house because he thought that I was choking. Seriously, a must read
  6. I say that you ended up well off. Some parents would be much less accepting and if I read into it they seem fine with it even if they don't understand it. I'm going to caution you against trying to force the show on them. I know some bronies who feel the need to share the wonders of MLP with everyone and while that is cool and all, realistically most middle aged people aren't ever going to like the show as much as we do. Not that you were going to do that or anything, but I just felt like caution was in order. Congrats!
  7. Um, that kind of already happened. And isn't it a little sadistic to wish that on someone? Why in the name of heck would a complete and public crushing be good for anyone? It sounds like a recipe for massive mental issues
  8. I suppose whichever one you preferred or whichever one you were better at. If not that, then the one that you were first then.
  9. Well just about all of them have multiple talents, it's just the cutie mark is the one that shapes your life the most. Take Pinkie Pie, she is a baker but her parties are much more central to her life than baking so she ended up with the mark that she has.
  10. That was the episode that made me realize that Dash is more adorable that Fluttershy . With regards to her ego I think it is in part a self defense mechanism against her self esteem issues.
  11. RAGE... GROWING... HULK... SMASH! Ha ha, just kidding. It's fine if you feel like that. IMO you're overlooking quite a few positive aspects of her character but I can't change who you like. I do dislike a little how season 2 handled her although the only time I found her genuinely unlikable was during the first half of Mare Do Well, and there are people who have acted worse than that in the show. But yeah, even though we're on completely opposite ends of the spectrum it's fine if you feel that way, even if you make me sad
  12. Hey all, in the other fandom I'm involved in, the Game of Thrones fandom, some of us have had fun throwing out crackpot theories about the books and I thought it could be fun for us to do the same! As long as it could make sense to someone who hasn't left their basement in 10 years or has a 1% possibility of being true it's fair game! Here are mine 1: Using the elements of harmony has a negative effect on the mental health of those who use them. Since 4 of the 8 known users have had mental breakdowns of some sort (and Dash and Rarity have issues of their own) I was wondering whether there could be an unfortunate side effect to the elements. 2: The Gala has a hidden underlying purpose, it is boring and orderly because that is how Equestria is supposed to be. It serves as a metaphor for Equestrian society, and by trashing it and introducing chaos to an event that had never seen it before the Mane 6 unwittingly broke the magic of the Gala, greatly weakening the seal on Discord. It's no coincidence that he escaped the next episode! For the record, I don't really believe in either of these, they're just fun thoughts I had. I'm curious to see what you can come up with! I hope I'm not the craziest person on these forums!
  13. Trollestia is just a joke among most people I think. IMO she is a bit of a prankster as we saw in A Bird in the Hoof, but there is no evidence that she is in any way malevolent or anything beyond enjoying a good practical joke. And as for Ticket Master? If you watch the episode Twilight clearly got a Form letter, Celestia had nothing to do with it. Twilight's name had probably been on some list by Celestia months ago and some schmuck just mailed tickets to everypony on the list. The other elements weren't on the lust because after, you know, NIGHTMARE MOON ATTACKED EQUESTRIA, and she got Luna back Celestia's first thoughts weren't " I bet Twilight's friends would love to go to that hellish Gala in 8 months, better put them on the invite list" At least that's how I read into it
  14. Considering what this fandom has produced and called art I expected much scarier. Still, she looks really intense. Great pic!
  15. I love how Twilight-esque the Fausticorn looks in that picture! She looks really proud of herself and she should be! She did just design the best pony after all
  16. Known for making me visit somewhere I've never been before!
  17. Yeah, they're too intelligent to be pets. If we go by that then I'd be Twilight's pet! Ha ha, yeah, but if we could by friends then I would say yes in a heartbeat
  18. Shining Armor could probably take Big Mac, even if we have seen relatively little of his capabilities. Blueblood would have the edge on Dr. Whooves due to his magic, but being Blueblood I'm sure he'd find a way to lose
  19. They were both based off of the same song. The original song is called We've Got Trouble, from The Music Man. I can definitely detect some resemblance
  20. I don't think Luna explicitly desired power, she was royalty ranked equally with Celesta. Luna only wanted to be loved an appreciated as much as Celestia, so I don't see how teaming up with Sombra would have accomplished that
  21. I'd go see her show I suppose, if she focused on actually performing rather than overhyping her tricks and disparaging the skills of others. I really don't want her to return on the show but I've resigned myself to the fact that she probably will
  22. I think a hammer for Apple bloom, maybe a mic for Sweetie, and something related to dancing for Scootaloo, since i think that is her real talent.
  23. I really liked that story, it actually made Twidash leapfrog Flutterdash as my 2nd favorite pairing which I never expected to happen
