  1. Warning! Several drinks were consumed in the making of this blog, which makes it dangerously fun and random. This is the incoherent story of how my day received not just one, but two, shots of Rainbow Dash's trademark coolness. So yeah. Today I finally got........ My Rainbow Dash shirt in the mail!!!!! This is automatically the sweetest shirt in my closet. Except I haven't put it in the closet yet, it's still hanging from the window just so I can look at it. I wore it to the liquor store when I bought my Mike's Hard Lemonade, then to the Goodwill to get a new keyboard, then to the McDonald's drive-thru...so three places have already witnessed the awesomeness of Rainbow Dash. That's right, I wore the shirt outside. I'm usually too shy to do stuff like that, but that the hell. Nobody around here knows about My Little Pony anyway. ^^ So that accounts for the first 20%. The second was that I went shopping at Wal-Mart again this morning and bought two blind bags. I opened the first one and went nuts, because... It's Rainbow again!!! OMG, how did that happen?! I must have lucky fingers or something! I opened the second one to reveal my third favorite pony... So, damned if this wasn't automatically a great day. Rainbow and Pinkie are now standing on my dresser with their collector cards. How about those two showing up together? It's like an omen, saying that I should write something about those two ponies. Maybe I will. But first, on to the fifth Mike's! Don't worry, I'm not an alcoholic or anything. But once in a while when the mood is right, I decide to cut loose. Not every entry of this blog will be a cautionary example of "don't drink and write." Most will just be the ravings of a madman who happens to love My Little Pony. I will be getting my required dosage of MLP later tonight (up to "Green Isn't Your Color"), but first, this blog and some Mystery Science Theater 3000, my other favorite show of all time. Is you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. Anyway! I had to put someone on Ignore. I've never done it before on all the boards I've been to, and there are many, but dammit I want to enjoy this site. And the show. And he was just depressing me, so there you go. MLP is just too great for me to nitpick over every detail of it, and I love this board too. A million thanks to everybody who's hoofed me and feels the same way, because you're making me a happier person. You've all been very welcoming and I really appreciate you. So, to sum it up. I've got you, I've got my shirt and sparkly figurines, and I promise that future entries of this blog by a clueless newb will be better. And I managed to get through this thing without breaking any rules, so yay! *raises bottle* To Bronydom!!! P.S. Dashie's cutie mark was a stroke of artistic genius.

I dunno, they just seem different. I didn't go for their episodes like the other ones. I mean, they're just a super-annoying trio of fillies now, but I have the feeling their quest could take a very dark turn later in life if they're not given the proper direction.

  3. I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus, red. Starting to rust around the edges. It runs, though. Pegasisters are always welcome to ride along, but Rainbow Dash gets the front.
  4. Stories like Cupcakes deserve to be mocked. Why, WHY do people feel the need to destroy a wonderful show with their demented homicidal fantasies??!! I mean, I have those too, but there are other outlets for them. Death metal, for example. *turns on stereo* RRRRAAAAAHHHRRRRRR.... Where was I? Oh, yeah. Funny videos!
  5. ...Nah. I'll admit I was very skeptical when I heard the show was flash-based. Most of the fully computer-based cartoons I saw looked really tacky, and I had no use for them. But then I actually saw the show and my doubts were erased. MLP really did something special with that style, and now I can't imagine the show any other way. I say keep it the way it is.
  6. I can't speak for everyone here, but I've said "love and tolerate" exactly once, not over and over. And I wasn't throwing it out there as an empty slogan. I meant it. Am I the only one who thinks that discussions about the brony community (rather than the show) are where things get hairy, and cause us to effectively devolve into just another squabbling fandom on the net? I'm sure others have noticed this. Personally, I'm not too concerned with the community, its lingo or its mountain of emotional baggage from 4chan, a site and an era that I had nothing to do with. What matters to me is the show. That is the only reason I'm here. Life is too short and the ponies are too cute for me to get bogged down in stuff like this. It's depressing. So forgive my tangent, and allow me to practice what I preach and excuse myself from this thread, and hopefully all future ones like it.
  7. Thank you for offering up some good-quality plushies to sell in the near future. I've seen the Wal-Mart ones and they are quite bad. Cheap cloth, the ponies look too babyish and are all the same, their hair is just several strands of multicolored fabric...bottom line, they are a fly-by-night product and not worth their $11.97 price. I want the ponies to actually look like the ponies. At the same time, though, there's a limit to how much I would pay for a good plushie. I would say $40 is the maximum. Some of us are students with menial or no jobs, and others with their own bills to pay (like me) are under even more pressure to save money.
  8. This is a great post and I totally agree about individual talents being more important for the ponies than which kind of pony they happen to be. To add something more to that, I've noticed that Rainbow seems to be a much better and more skilled flier than Fluttershy, and Twilight's magic powers seem much stronger than Rarity's. So basically, just because you're born (or foaled, whatever) with a certain ability, it does not follow that you will excel at that ability.
  9. We've seen Twi use some powerful spells from time to time. It seems she can do almost anything, from giving an earth pony fully functional wings to putting an Ursa Minor to sleep and levitating it right out of Ponyville. This was all extremely cool, but my question is...have we seen the extent of Twilight's powers yet? And if not, just how strong do you think she'll get later in the show? I think she could rival Celestia--then again, considering how rarely I've seen her in action, Celestia's magic is kind of a mystery too.
  10. We're not giving him crap. Do you see personal insults flying around here? Not everyone here is saying he's wrong, either. He's just looking at things differently. Ceresbane means well and is obviously a smart, observant guy to bring up the points he does. But I don't have an issue with the ponies occasionally failing to live up to their "elements," or flat-out contradicting them on occasion. Who hasn't struggled with that sort of thing before? At the end of the day the ponies are more important to me as realistic characters than they are as symbols, just like being myself is more important than being who other people want me to be. And none of those little things keep me from enjoying MLP. I've seen too many discussions (and fandoms) dragged down by disagreements over little things, and I'm just not going to get into it. It's a great show.
  11. There are at least two for me so far. I just cried a little seeing Rainbow Dash do the sonic rainboom. I watched it a few times on Youtube and it was cool then, but in the actual episode it's so amazing. To see RD really unsure of herself for the first time and then pull off something like that makes me feel like I can do anything, too. Another one is when Twilight meets Fluttershy for the first time. She's so timid and nervous that it makes Twilight uncomfortable, which makes Fluttershy even more uncomfortable, and the conversation comes to a quick and awkward end. That really resonated with me because I've been there so many times...I'm terrible at meeting people, and I'm so shy in person that I come off as antisocial. When I saw that, I knew this was a character I could identify with. And when she went crazy over Spike it got hilarious, and that's when I decided "I must keep watching this show. MUST."
  12. Welcome! Great to see an Applejack fan here. She's really sweet and is one of the more underappreciated ponies. (You and Leaf Shade should get along very well.)
  13. Both. I'm hoping either it will start out day-to-day and go story-driven later, or have story-related episodes happen sporadically. Dedicating the whole season to a story arc would be a mistake, because the slice-of-life element helped make MLP what it is. Also develop Twilight as a character. Friendship has taught her many things, but she has yet to put them all together, partly because Celestia's moral-of-the-day thing encourages her to report results more than actually learn. Leave her alone and let her experience life, dammit. And more Applejack wouldn't hurt either.
  14. I love you guys. I should probably answer my own questions, huh? Just so I don't come off as a teacher giving everyone a test. 1. I didn't even go to my junior or senior proms. I was thinking of Pinkie, but great points were made about formal occasions being Rarity's thing, so I think I would take her to the dance myself. She could give me some fashion tips, too. I don't feel like I look quite right in anything and they just don't make pants for people like me. The legs are always too long and stuff. ^^ 2. Fluttershy. She's really kind and understanding and can relate to anybody. And if the kid gives her any lip, there's another side to her that can be tough and even scary. Don't worry, HE'S GOING...TO LOVE HER!!! I know that would scare me straight. If you ask me, Fluttershy's dark side is scarier than Pinkie Pie's. 3. I'd pick Twilight Sparkle to help my brother with school. She could be both a tutor and a friend. He would like the magic thing too. 4. This situation is perfect for Rainbow Dash. Saving Equestria with my favorite pony? Doesn't get any cooler than that. Plus I'm more of a thinker and I don't like fighting. Rainbow would balance out with me really well and keep me focused. 5. Pinkie Pie. She would know exactly how I felt. I can just see her walking in with a cupcake and a smile. She's so amazing. Sorry, I'm fanboying.
  15. Plotholes?! WHAT plot holes? How dare you?! DON'T YOU REALIZE I WILL EAT YOU?!?!?!? -_- Seriously though. Of course there are inconsistencies, so what? All shows have them. I tend not to analyze things I love. I know the flaws are there, but I'm not going to point out every single one. I think a lot of us feel the same way. Surely you wouldn't label that as "denial."
  16. Can't...stop thinking about...PINKIE...........I must bake muffins!

The corn muffins have indeed been baked. Delicious.

  17. I have also played it. And I love it. FFIX had...what do you call it? Heart? Soul? Something I hadn't really associated with video games before, until I played that one. But nobody remembers. The mainstream fans ignored it because it wasn't like VII, the more intellectual gamers I became friends with loved VIII instead...IX was the odd game out. I still have it, though. I really should play it again.
  18. I just never liked the look of the place, none of the clothes they had looked interesting before, and...too many teeny-boppers. Now that they have pony stuff I'm conflicted, though. At least they have a website...
  19. I have sworn off Hot Topic in the past. It probably has something to do with them being Hot Topic. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png Maybe I'll have to reconsider. Also, when did they give out these toys at McDonald's? WHEN?!?! And when will they have them again?
  20. I've been a night owl since I was a teenager, but now I am literally nocturnal. I work a night shift and sleep in the afternoon. It's like I'm a vampire, except I don't kill people and I'm not featured in too many terrible movies and books to name. It kind of tickled me watching the first episode where Celestia narrates about Luna resenting that "ponies shunned and slept through her beautiful night." And I thought, "not me!"
  21. Oh, I can only imagine. It's the kind of thing I would write about too. But nobody can do the show like the show itself. At any rate I hope we don't make it through the whole series with Celestia still being shown as perfect, 'cause I don't buy it.
  22. I would never get a tattoo. Would you still want to be rocking Rainbow Dash on your shoulder when you're 60? Amazing though she is, I'll stick with stuff I can take off.
  23. Wow, I didn't even think of the stuff you guys are bringing up. Really interesting, though, especially the thing about Twilight supposedly being an intellectual but rarely questioning authority. She looks up to Celestia as an idol, but I'm glad I'm not alone here in my suspicions about that despotic, oft-absent princess. She's too perfect. I don't trust her. One of the best things this show could possibly do is have Twilight grow up a little more and start to question her...and turn out to be right in doing so.
  24. The terms overrated and underrated are overrated. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png Overused as well. Rarity seems to get the cold shoulder from some people, but she's a great pony. She's one of the most stereotypically feminine characters, but somehow she pulls it off without becoming a cliche. She's my least favorite of the Mane 6 and I still love her, so I think that says a lot. I won't nitpick about fandoms I don't totally understand, like that one-hit snake oil magician Trixie or Fluttershy, because she is wonderful after all. The one I must linger on for a moment is Derpy...why the obsession? I barely notice her.
  25. Did I already say Family Guy? Damn. Then I'll add some more variety and say those primetime action dramas like 24 are pretty overrated. I had an insane teacher in community college who was obsessed with that show, he'd talk about it during class and everything. So annoying.
