  1. I mostly get stuff online, so I don't have to worry about it. But I looked at the pony toys at a Wal-Mart early this morning when almost nobody else was in there, and I still felt very self-conscious. I didn't dare buy any of them, but that was due to the prices more than the embarrassment...plus some of them don't even look like the characters. Especially the plushies. This will not stand. I demand better quality merchandise from Hasbro! But where were we? Well, I'm a 27-year-old guy so I would definitely get weird looks, which I hate because I tend to be extremely shy and sensitive. If I did buy something, I'd have to say it was for my little sister or whatever (I don't have one). -_-
  2. This one's kind of unique. I'm going to throw some different situations at you, and you tell us which Mane 6 pony you would pick to help you out and why. Resist the urge to pick your favorite for all of them, and remember to give a reason why you chose that pony. Here are the five challenges! 1. You've really been looking forward to the prom, but despite your obvious good looks and general awesomeness, you find yourself a party of one. You decide to ask one of the ponies to be your date instead! (Strictly as friends of course.) The dance will be big and noisy, but formal, and you want to make a good impression. Which pony do you take with and why? 2. You get stuck having to babysit the worst-behaved kid in the neighborhood. He's disrespectful, uses bad language and steals stuff. One time he egged your family's car on a Halloween run through the town. Everybody who knows his family says the boy is a hopeless case, his parents can't control him and he'll probably end up homeless or in prison. But you also hear that the kid is misunderstood and has no direction. You can take one M6 pony with you to help watch him for the night. Which do you choose? 3. Your brother/sister is pretty smart and has the potential to do well in school, but instead they're struggling and getting poor grades. He or she is under a lot of stress outside school and just broke up with their boyfriend/girlfriend, which makes things worse. What does your sibling need most? A tutor, a friend to hang out with, a love doctor or a workout partner to burn off the stress? Which pony would you put on the job? 4. One day you receive an invitation to Equestria from the princess. The kingdom is being attacked by a new force of evil and for whatever reason you're the only human who can lead the forces of pony good. You'll need help to get familiar with Equestria, plan out battles and study the enemy's weakness. Which pony will you take as your partner in the struggle to save the world? 5. You are all alone in a dark place. You feel sad, unattractive and unwanted, and you need somepony with you. All of a sudden, there she is! Who is she?
  3. NFL: Minnesota Vikings (best team to never win a Super Bowl), Detroit Lions (fun to cheer for, winners or losers), Houston Texans (like the Cowboys but not evil). NHL: Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins. That's about it for me. Oh, wait... Olympics: USA, Japan
  4. Agreed. It's nice to think of a world where the ruler actually does something besides read letters and show up before/after all the action, but the Mane 6 needs someone else to rule so they have their hooves free to go out and save Equestria. Let Cadence do the paperwork.
  5. If MLP holds up an unrealistic good/evil dichotomy, it's no worse than a ton of other shows and movies that do the same thing. And some of the antagonists did have reasons for what they did, or were misunderstood and redeemed later. (Nightmare Moon for instance.)
  6. With wings on the back. I shall conquer the world with this shirt. I shall end all bad things, from Family Guy to Burger King fries, with Dashie on my side. And then you will all be a part of my joyful New Pony Order. Just as soon as it comes in the mail.
  7. The energy drink craze mystifies me. What do the kids need all that energy for? They're not doing anything! And you'd be amazed how quickly your energy problem is solved when you get some sleep at night instead of staying up gaming and texting till 2am. (i.e. my 15-year-old brother.)
  8. I feel bad...I just can't share the love of The Lion King that everyone else seems to have. I mean, it was good, but something about it just didn't connect with a 9-year-old TailsAlone. Still doesn't. So what are my favorites? The Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers and The Sword in the Stone. Lilo & Stitch was good too.
  9. Family Guy, for all the reasons you guys have stated and more. It's The Simpsons with no heart, no originality and no point. The Office. Okay, maybe the writers are better than Family Guy's, but they're wasting their talents on that "LULZ, look how quirky I am" dialogue that is killing so many shows for me today. When did "homicidally annoying" and "funny" become the same thing? And STOP MOVING THE CAMERA! *throws something* 30 Rock does this too and it drives me insane. Who is that guy stalking the characters and hovering behind them with a camcorder all the time? I will find this guy and dip him in cement if that's what it takes to keep the camera still so today's shows at least look decent, because this trend needs to be stopped.
  10. I've got some all right... *The Dreamcast was better than the PS2 when both systems came out, all hype aside. The same games that were on the DC looked just as good or better than PS2 versions, and their launch titles also blew Sony's away. The DC died an early death in 2001, but even then it took the PS2 years to catch up to the quality of their library. *Microsoft does not deserve another cent of your money or mine in console game sales, at least not until the next generation when they put out a system that isn't fatally flawed. Yeah, I know the 360 works fine now, but it took three years and a landslide of broken systems to put out a model without the RROD. I don't trust them. *Final Fantasy VII was not the best RPG ever. It wasn't even my favorite Final Fantasy, which would be IX. *The N64 was a better system overall than the PS1. *Nothing remotely interesting has been done with first-person shooters since 90's PC gaming. You could basically play Doom or Quake for peanuts and have just as much fun as you did after dropping $60 on the latest Call of Duty. It ain't worth it, kids. It just ain't. *Soul Calibur II was the best fighting game ever. Picture a weapons fighter with amazing moves and music, minus the double-D's on every female character and ridiculous animations of characters breaking the floor every time they're knocked down. This was SC2. *There has never been a really good football video game. Not Madden, not even the 2K series. Something is ALWAYS messed up. Football just doesn't carry over well to gaming. -_-
  11. The one I actually wanted to watch and was interested in before Digimon hit in the fall of '99 and blew me away. I'm guessing that's the first one. xD
  12. Now I have to say two games that no one else on here has probably ever played. First was Evolution: The World of Sacred Device for the Dreamcast. The final boss (Prince Eugene in a mech) was ridiculous. Totally cheap, a zillion HP, poisoned you every round. Second was the Ethereal Queen from Radiata Stories (PS2) in the bonus dungeon. It was doubly tough because I used the characters I liked most instead of the most powerful ones you could recruit. But at least there you could equip the Tri-Emblem skill, and then I stood a chance against her. No shortcuts for Eugene.
  13. You mean, any other shows that are currently on? Um... Wow. That's a tough one. *thinking* Oh, wait. Football! There, that's all I've got for now.
  14. The Typing of the Dead on the Sega Dreamcast. You learned to type and slaughtered zombies at the same time. Any kids who can't type correctly (and if the Internet is evidence, there are many), find this game!
  15. My Little Pony (only show from this decade I care about) Daria (last good show before MTV went to hell) Garfield and Friends (1990s) Cardcaptor Sakura Strawberry Marshmallow Digimon (this show literally saved me from terrible depression in middle school) Football (NFL) Gidget (1960s sitcom w/Sally Field) The Simpsons (until the late 90s, then it sucked) Anything George Carlin that was ever recorded Wow, there was almost nothing good on after the 90s, was there? Especially for kids. I feel bad for you guys who had to grow up in the 2000s. Thank Celestia for Lauren Faust!
  16. Heck, I relive the classics every day. I stopped buying new video games seven years ago because nothing looked interesting anymore. The most recent thing I have is a PS2, which I still use as my DVD player. I also have a Dreamcast, a GameCube I never use, and a Genesis. That's more than enough gaming awesomeness for one person, and I'm lucky enough to live near the best independent retro game store in my state. Not kidding. All their games and systems are buffed out, cleaned and tested, many with their original manuals and cases. Insane variety, cash trade-ins...the place seems too good to be true, but every time I go back it's still there... O_O I have been annoyed with GameStop for their complete disregard for old games and the poor condition of their used stuff, not to mention the prices. I never shop there. It's great they're finally offering this service for interested gamers who have no other place to go...but for ponies who do, hooray for us.
  17. People can spell Bic Mac's name with or without the "A." Don't worry, I'll still love you. o.O Apple (the company) isn't really a factor with me. Lack of a right-click button = evil and I don't want an iPhone, but I have no problem with them. I doubt if Mac has much time to surf the web anyway.
  18. I do I do! She's awesome. Not my top favorite, that's Rainbow, but I really identify with Twilight. She's a great main character because she doesn't overwhelm the show, but she's not a generic "straight man" (or straight pony) character either.
  19. Welcome to MLP, rainbowisaboss. I approve of your name and favorite pony choice. I also share your enthusiasm for imagining fictional anthropomorphic cartoon characters in romantic situations. I'm more of a writer than an artist, but who knows. Perhaps one day we shall join forces and conquer the world! *evil laugh*
  20. I just found a picture that describes it perfectly for many of us... http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/171/1/3/the_my_little_pony_effect_by_miharuzee-d3jfyt7.jpg So true. I'm pacing myself instead of devouring the episodes one after another, because the third season doesn't start for a while yet...but my Rainbow Dash shirt is already in the mail.
  21. This IS my first week as a brony. So it's still pretty fresh in my mind. I discovered the show on September 10th. I haven't told anyone except you guys. I don't have any friends I hang out with and I'm not really in touch with most of my family. I just keep to myself. MLP has really helped me, and so has the forum. It would have been a lousy week otherwise. At home I look up, watch, and talk about ponies. At work? Think about ponies. My fanfiction ideas? Now full of ponies. For lunch? Eat ponies. Just kidding on that last one. *hugs you* I know how you feel.
  22. You can't have enough question threads. 1. Save her anyway! We must keep some ponies around to rebuild the post-apocalyptic world into a better place, with more friendship. And magic. 2.Give it to her, but only if she had some carrots with it. Maybe they'll help with her eyesight. xD 3. Twilight. It makes a lot of sense to me and I've actually seen some Twilight/Spike fics that weren't bad. 4. HIDE THE CLOPFICS!!! JK. I'd be honored if the greatest organizer in all of Equestria took the trouble to come to the human world and clean up my messy room. 5. I KNOW she looks cute in glasses. Isn't that right, Miss Sparkle? 6. Wow, that's how you know they've become a religion for sure. Notify Princess Celestia that their crusade is getting way out of hand and the Mane 6 should go straighten them out. 7. Tell Twilight to stop pulling pranks on her and turn her back into a pony so we can all have a party. I love Pinkie Pie. 8. "You have reached the voicemail box of Lauren Faust. Please leave a message after the tone. BEEP." ............ "Hi, Lauren? Um, big brony here...I'm having kind of a problem." *sounds of groaning undead ponies in background* "Can you get in touch with the MLP writing staff again? I think they're going a little too dark with Season 3. Gotta go, Fluttershy's trying to eat my flesh. Bye." 9. My room isn't big enough for all of them, let alone my bed! Okay, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy get the bed because they're especially sensitive and need the most attention. Spike gets a sleeping bag in the living room with Rarity. It'll cheer him right up and distract her from any bad dream she might've had. Twilight gets the easy chair near the books. I'll put a blanket on the floor for Applejack, and finally, Rainbow Dash gets a hammock. 10. YES! Who wouldn't want to fly with Dashie? Better than any roller coaster. As long as she doesn't go too fast.
  23. No one's going to believe me about this, but every generation before this one has struggled with the exact same concerns, both in their own minds and older people's. The baby boomers, the hippies, the gen X-ers, the 90's burnouts. Every generation. At the end of the day, you're no different from them. And the country is still standing. So you guys are fine. Some of you are incredibly fragile and overprotected like hell, but like most of us you've developed ways of coping. It's pretty damn weird to think that there are kids growing up these days who weren't even alive before the Internet and cell phones were everywhere (late 90's or so). I was, though, and it wasn't that bad. Everything just happened a little bit slower. In a way it was nice. Now you have a bunch of friends and family members who expect to be able to reach you 24/7, and it gets kind of overwhelming at times. The charm of distance has been lost; everybody's connected, or if they're not they have a rough time fitting in. But I was a kid before all that and still had a rough time fitting in, so it's always something. Then let the older generation do the hating. Take this time to figure things out for yourself instead.
  24. What got me into Megadeth is a little embarrassing: Risk. Possibly their least metal album ever. Basically alternative rock and hated by many. I loved it, though. Who would've known it would take them another decade after that to find their real sound again, but they did in Endgame. Damn, that was great. No Rust In Peace, but still a highlight of their career. http://www.youtube.c...3&hl=en_US I've seen it, thank you. That's not death metal. It's very nice, though.
  25. Some questions for you about shipping! I hope this this is the right place for the thread, as it's about fan fiction but not an actual fic. But I'm looking for some inspiration and I want to know some of your favorite examples! I'll answer the questions myself later, when I get home from work. xD 1. Do you like romance fics in MLP? 2. What are a few pairings you really like, if any? 3. Why do those pairings interest you in particular? 4. What are some fanfics about them that you really liked? ^^
