Are we killing bronydom?

Sounds like a case of the 'ol hipsteritis. I too have hipster tendencies, at times. Don't worry so much about bronies becoming mainstream, it won't ruin the show or the  fandom.

Ponification is a part of artistic freedom. Is someone is content with ponifications he will do them regardless of what you all people think and we have no right to push our preferences to the guy ponifying these things in comments of their ponifications. If the artist talks with you or asks you your opinion or you just happen to talk and stuff you could speak your opinion but ponifications are in no way actively destroying the fandom.

However the artists or some of them have to accept the fact that there is kind of a saturation of ponifications. Ponifications are in no way harming the image of the ponified character but if you don't like it you have the right to not like it downvote it or otherwise. You may give reason for not liking it but you cannot judge it's quality bad simply because it is a ponification. Crossovers btw are not ponifications but to some people they are the same thing. Crossovers are kind of unavoidable... they have been even done officially by companies such as Marvel with Fantastic Four and Avengers on Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes... if you can consider it a crossover.

In any case killing the bronydom does in NO way come from ponifications... it comes from losing the sense of community and this is far from lost... it's growing even i could say.

So as i said there is some extent of saturation of ponifications but the ponifications themselves are HARMLESS.

It's just how fantoms work, and MLP:FiM is just in that position that it experienced a large surge in internet popularity. Replace "MLP:FiM" with "Digimon: Digital Monsters" and there would be complaints from people about that.

Being an IndyCar fan can be difficult when all you hear on the American racing medium is NASCAR NASCAR NASCAR!

A friend of mine who is definitely NOT a brony has never complained about such things, so I doubt it's a serious issue.

Okay so let me get this straight you think we are killing the brony fandom because it is too big? Um okay, I guess by that logic the Star Wars and Star Trek fandoms should have died decades ago then. I find it hard to take all these people seriously who say that bronies are forcing the show on them because you find a lot of ponified/crossover stuff, yes there are annoying bronies who try to push it on people but I hardly see how running into a few pics with ponies in them is the same as that.

Finally! Someone who gets what I said repeatedly before. I am apparently deemed tin-foil hat crazy every time I mention this.

Anyways, yes. There are so many bronies, we like to express our interests with ponies quite often, and there's nothing wrong with that. Fallout Equestria is a perfect example of such.

This fandom does have an interesting bunch of fans, and while some may not be exactly helping the fandom, I dont believe they're causing the downfall of it. The fandom is still going strong as far as I'm concerned.

If anything, the super hugbox zealot fan morons, are what's killing this fandom, like any other fandom. They throw fits over opinions, get made if you don't agree with their ideas, think everyone is a hater that say anything different then what they expect on their ideas, and act like everything they say is canon material.

Don't remind me, Pokemon is really bad with that.

So... ponies are too mainstream for you? I'm just glad it's not some bleak forgotten fandom with 6 or 7 members, that when googled, would match nothing. I think you should be glad the fandom is popular, known, and prevailing.

I am still pretty new to bronydom, so I'm still getting a big kick out of ponified stuff.  Can't get enough of it.  I ain't never had too much pony.  But I can definitely see how one could get burned out.  But the thing is, I really don't think you're going to see that much pony related stuff if you're not looking for it.  For instance, as of a few months ago, before I discovered the show, I really didn't see/notice much pony stuff.  Now I see it EVERYWHERE, but that's because I'm looking for it.  So if one gets burned out, then just don't pay any attention to pony stuff.  Problem sovled.

you know who kills the fandom? the brainiacs "Know-It-Alls" grammar Nazi passive aggressive douchebags that don't cuss yet disrespect you anyways... THOSE are who give this fandom a bad name "pardon me" for being blunt (sorry but not sorry)

Apologies. I had no intent to insult or anger you. I write how I talk, and I talk how I write. Thousand pardons, madame.

Not too mainstream. I was just worried about the future of the fandom. Not the present.

I don't think it's about whether the fandom is going strong or not, I think it's the fact that many people feel that ponies are being shoved in their faces. Although I think it's silly. Aside from people putting ponies as their avatars, using MLP themed handles, or using MLP sprays for FPS games, I don't really see much of shoving ponies into people's faces. I don't see bronies going to a Family Guy video and saying "Hey everyone! MLP is so much better than this!", although fans might point out a reference to a show/game/whatever that was found in a MLP game, such as the Troupe Gramayre theme being used for Trixie in Turnabout Storm. If anything, we're pretty low key compared to other fandoms, where people will compare the characters from their fandoms to other characters. Don't want to talk bad about other fandoms, but we're far from the worst fandom, MLP (and the Brony culture) just happens to be very popular.

If Bronies are killing their own fandom then the days of nearly any large fandom are clearly numbered lol.  In any fandom of any significant size there are people that are hardcore into it.  People that live and breathe it.  Heck, even smaller cult followings can take things pretty darn seriously.  Sure, there's a seeming abundance of pony-related images on the internet and - specifically - deviantART.  Combine a popular series with creative people and you get creative things devoted to that series.  I'm not entirely certain a fandom can be killed outright.  Maybe a gradual decline in general interest could set in.  Or, I guess if all Bronies everywhere caught a fatal, Brony-specific disease - that might do it.  But even then...  New Bronies would replace those that, tragically, succumbed to Brony-itis.

I assume, for the most part, that the people that get really bent out of shape about the ubiquitousness of ponies are the types of people that 1. aren't into the show whatsoever and have no real bearing on the fandom, and / or 2. feel the need to bash anything that exists outside the societal / gender stereotypical norm, and / or 3. are JUST as hardcore into something else that it's "okay" for them to like.  Odds are even those people that love something non-pony see their fair share of haters and arguably over-the-top members of their own fandom.

We're fine.  It's fine.  Everything's fine lol.  This is merely speculative, but perhaps you, the original poster (and I don't mean this in an unkind way), are simply tiring of the fandom or even of the ponies themselves.  Which isn't an awful, unthinkable thing.  I just genuinely wonder how someone could be concerned about the seeming abundance of ponies and the general health of the fandom if they themselves weren't questioning their Brony-ness.  Brony-dom.  Brony...  With some suffix that makes sense attached. xD  Again, speculation on my part; not trying to ruffle any feathers.  Also not assuming you have feathers.

I totally agree with you. Now I am not saying that people should not be able to ponify what ever they like. But people are ponifying too much. Some things just don't need a pony version. By ponifing everything in site we kinda, kill the magic, we make all the other pony things a little less special.

I'd say that it can cut either way depending on how you think about it.

Do I think it's cool that there's ponies in a lot of places, especially on the internet? Certainly! Good ideas tend to spread and spread far, what's more pleasant to look at than a pony? How can you say no to that little adorable, big eyed face? It's part of why Hasbro's doing so well as a company afterall. Because you just can't say no.

However I have non-brony friends who while they're okay with me and their family members liking the show and being fans of varying degrees, they just can't stand it all that much when it is everywhere. Heck, they left a coffee shop because a few guys were discussing the show in open public.

However they found it funny when I talked to them about how certain things have been ponified or certain companies have used ponies in the past for things. They even used the MyLittleCompanion mod in WoW and got a kick out of /ponies on Google Hangouts. Why is this?

You can turn a mod off and you don't have to use the ponies in MLC, you can use other skins as well and you don't have to use /ponies when on Google Hangouts. However they are there and they're not being shoved down your throat. However to them, when people are talking about ponies where they cannot control the volume or they see their favorite non-pony oriented groups become ponified, they start to become scared. It feels like ponies are everywhere and perhaps, they feel as if they have to join the "herd" just so they don't miss out on things they used to like.

That is when ponification goes too far. That is when it becomes a problem for me and my friends. When a non-brony has to ponder about becoming a brony, just so they can do certain things they used to enjoy and don't anymore because ponies are everywhere.
