What were the mane 6 like as teenagers?

Before you guys bring up Equestria Girls, keep in mind 90% of the Equestrian population are teens in the Canterlot high universe, even fillies like The CMC.

 

Now to the point at hand, The mane 6's ages have yet to be revealed yet, but I can assume they're arround 20-25 years old. If this is the case, what do you guys think they were like when they were teenagers? I always though the mane 6 would be the oposite of their elements when they were teens, and unknowingly discovered them when they were becoming adults

 

Twilight - I think she probably would've done something so terrible in her eyes that would've caused her to nearly give up learning magic. 

 

Pinkie - She would've probably be a depressed emo goth who became that way due to her best friend turning evil or something, only to learn that you always have to look on the bright side.

 

Applejack - She would probably be a liar, struggling to accept the truth of her parents death. Only to finally suck up and tell Applebloom the truth.

 

Rainbow - She'd be an insecure coward, always running away from her problems due to the fear of not living up her promise with Rainbow Blaze.

 

Rarity - She'd be a pick-pocket pirate hoping to get enough treasure to get her family out of financial crisis. It would take her to give up a valuable treasure to learn that you get rewarded when you give.

 

Fluttershy - In my headcanon, she and her dysfunctional family moved to Fillydelphia and the influence of the streets turned her to a rebellious juvenile delinquent with an nasty, cynical attitude to everypony and expressing her years of anger through graffiti, shoplifting, and other adolescent mischief. 

 

So what are your thoughts?

Kind of, though they're a bit different. Pinkie isn't as mean as she was Discorded, Rarity would be a ruthless pirate captain, Applejack tries to deny her parents death, Rainbow has an inferioriority complex, and the worst Fluttershy did while discorded was dump water on Twilight and wreck some flowers. I'm mainly talking about her tagging the streets of Fillydelphia, skipping school, shoplifting, picking fights with rival gangs, and having complete disrespect towards authority or rules.

I think they were as teens as they are now. Although they might still be teens. I mean, look at pinkie pie. But on what you said about Fluttershy, person who wrote this, I don't think she came from a dysfunctional family or lived in fillydelphia because she fell out of the sky in a race at flight camp, which is probably in cloudsdale, into ponyville. Also I think they were the same because judging from when they got their cutie marks, they were showing the traits of their elements (Twilight working hard to do a magic spell, rainbow being loyal to Fluttershy, Pinkie pie discovering happiness and laughter, etc.) so they were probably the same since then.

I'll think we'll find out in Equstria Academy, if they haven't cancelled it. But I don't think they'll be that different, they already show some childish behavior as adult mares

Well I don't particularly think they'd be the opposite of their element. I mean come on people, Pinkie has been a happy filly ever since she saw that that sonic rainboom up in the sky. Fluttershy has always been shy, when she was a filly too. Rarity made costumes for her school play when she was a filly, quite generous too. Why would they all suddenly change that much when they would go into would become teens O.o.

 

Teenaging might make some personality traits way more pronounced, cocky persons would get even more cocky etc. But it isn't a personality changing thing

 

I think the mane 6 would be around 18 actually, not much older for sure, Twilight is after all still a student.

For Fluttershy, she probably would've been taken back to Cloudsdale by a rescue squad of sorts. Hell, the flashback in Hurricane Fluttershy confirmed that she did go back to coloudsdale after getting her cutie mark.

I think there are plenty of episodes that answer this question already

We know Pinkie became her happy self after seeing the Sonic Rainboom, also know that she kept being that way for a good while, because when that Pony voiced by Weird Al mentions the first party he'd been to, it was a party organized by Pinkie Pie, slightly older, I think we can say it was her teenage hood there.

The only moment when it is known that Twilight almost gave up magic was in the moment before getting her cutie mark, because she wasn't being able to perform at the desired level, after that I don't really believe she tried to give up again.

We saw Rainbow Dash as a kid, she was already confident as hell and even got her cutie mark out of it, hard to believe she'd change in her teen years just to come back to normal.

I have no evidence for the others, but come on, I don't think those are ever slightly realistic for the show's parameters

You'd be surprised. Hey Arnold!, another cartoon targeted at the same age group, tackled topics like attempted suicide, abusive parents, and even addiction.

Why, none of us really know of course, it's all guesses of course! 

my guess is pretty much the same as she would be right now, but with teenage hormones and all, and is the fashionable one and etc.

 

As for the others, I guess I don't have all that much of an idea, as for Pinkie, quite Hyper I'd imagine.

Pinkie Pie would still be Pinkie Pie, as she has been ever since after the sonic rainboom which happened when she was a child.

Rarity would have braces, be into alternative grunge rock, spend all of her free time fixing up the Carousel Boutique, and have an event on a family vacation in Baltimare ... the first time she would face the blasted Enemy Crabs.

 

 

EDIT: I disagree that the learned their respective Elements that old. I am a firm believe that they embodied them at an very young age if not actually indwelt from go. They aren't the Elements because they were the best ones available at the time ... they were the ONLY ones ... predestination.

Well, I really think that Applejack could have anger issues as a teenager. I mean, just think about it! Her parents are gone, she is forced to take care of her little sister, help around the farm, go to school... It's a lot to take for someone so young and people often can't handle things like that.

 

Twilight probably was extremely focused on absorbing as much knowledge as possible, spending all her time learning with Celestia and in the libraries.

 

Pinkie Pie? It's easy, she was the same Pinkie we know right now. Well, maybe she was more unpredictable, if it's even possible... O_o' After spending all her life on a rock farm she probably wanted to see new places, meet new ponies... escape from the depressing surrondings of her childhood.

 

Fluttershy - isolating herself from other ponies and spending time with her animal friends, learning about them to be able to better understand them and help, if there was something wrong.

 

Rarity. Heh, this one is easy, too. I think that as a teenager she would spend her time reading magazines, making new costumes and outfits, gossiping with ponies her age, sometimes fighting with her parents, looking for inspirations... Kinda like a normal teenager girl.

 

Rainbow Dash - Rainbow Dash is Rainbow Dash. I think that she would be the same Rainbow we saw in the first episodes. Reckless, arrogant, brash, but with a heart of gold and great ambition, always trying out new tricks and not really experienced when it comes to real friendship (except forFlutters, but I always think that they're more like sisters).

I'd like to think that at the age the ponies are now, they are teenagers. They are the products of a society that respects the individual and sees those at their age as helpful rather than a potentially dangerous hindrance that needs to be kept off the streets. They don't rebel against society the way teens in the real world do because Equestria respects their personalities and talents, unlike how most modern societies try to control and generalize them by warehousing in public education.

 

Lauren Faust has commented that she sees them at a late high school age in terms of maturity, and many analysts have made videos that peg their ages at a teenage range.

I went into why I think so in "How old are the mane 6?" but, IMO at the time of the pilot most of the mane 6 were 17-20 years old, Twilight was 15 or 16.  AJ was around 25, by far the oldest of the group & the only non teen.  Spike was 10 at the time of the pilot.  Secret of My Excess was his 11th birthday.

I would say what they are like in Equestria Girls is how they were like when they were teens. Yes half of Equestria are teens there what's your point?

 

Their ages flunctuate for some reason when they enter that universe. Twilight is an adult pony stuck in a human teenager's body.

They seem young adult, so I would say that their personalities now aren't much unlike what they were then, except maybe a bit more extreme. Rainbow Dash is even more loud and brash, Rarity is even more dramatic, Pinkie Pie is even more hyper (like that's possible), etc.

Well I imagine Rainbow Dash thought no one understood her. Fluttershy had no friends and was depressed. Pinkie Pie was also depressed. Twilight would have been that smart kid with no friends. Rarity would have also thought that no one understood her. And Applejack would have been fine as she never went to school and thus was not influenced by other teenagers.

I agree. And you explained it pretty well, mate. The mane 6 are all much too immature to be 20+ years old. They are teenagers, but not teenagers like we know in our society, because pony society is completely different!

The Digibrony video does go over it so well as he presents evidence and logic to not only show that it is a sound theory, but also explain why the theory is so cool and how it enhances the show.
