I love the picture of Fluttershy taking tea with one of her birdie friends, and schoolgirl Flutterbat is awesome! I like the others as well, save for the top right. I can't say I approve of "butt wings". Why are they so low? In my opinion they spoil the picture.

Uh actually the "schoolgirl Flutterbat" is a reference to an anime called "Rosario+Vampire", with a girl who is usually sweet and kind having a much more vicious (but still quite beautiful) vampiric form when the little cross with a bead, a Rosario, is taken off of her. Flutterbat has actually quite a bit of art combining her and the Rosario series;

(That's Moka with Flutters, at least Moka in her more human-like form)

PS Sorry for that, I just am a big anime nut and I do really like this series so I had to say something... Apologies if I was annoying  :please:

Thank you Pinkamena-Pills for resizing the original, and putting that little message at the end

I had to laught at your choice of picture... if you actually know the source that is... I am not saying anymore if you don't D; Don't wanna ruin that picture for you.

I know the source too, since I used Google image search to back track it after I read your post! I very carefully picked an image to post as a followup.

I'm not too keen on the half mix and mash of human/Pony.

I don't know. Seems a little weird to me. For me, I often usually full human or full pony artwork, nothing in-between.

Though it really comes down to the artist's skill and the concept which is what really matters!

I can appreciate a nonvulgar artpiece of a furry, that's a given, but to call myself a Furry?

Not at all.

I don't draw those types of characters, though I'm sure if i were challenged to do so I would give it my best, but I don't like to draw those types of characters, its either ponies or animals or humans, not inbetween unless of course you count Chimeras, Harpies or Manticores, something that involves animal and human parts as one.

EDIT: not to mention I hear some rumors that if your a full blown furry, furry fans tend to hate bronies, calling us hypocrits or copouts. Sadly I've not met a nice furry fan yet, and when I mean nice, I mean the ones that purely are furries cause they like the concept itself and not full blown into it cause they find it "hot" and "sexy". I've met too many vulgar furries...worse so then those bronies that like to...gah..."clop". I hate vulgarity in any fandom.

I'm just a silly little alicorn, trying to get by in the fandom ^^

It wasn't annoying in the least. Now that you mentioned it, I have seen the first episode of "Rosario+Vampire". I just didn't recognize how Flutterbat was dressed. It's an anime I always meant to get back to.

I've been in the furry fandom for nearly 10 years now. I tend to like the clean stuff more. Though, that said...I find the brony fandom a bit better to be in, I've been a brony for nearly 4 years now.(I found  out about bronydom rather quickly, through the furry fandom actually). It's been a different experience for sure. :yay:

Fluttershy's lover, she's my waifu. I'm in love and obsessed with her, she's given me shyabetes. *Hnnnng*

I like anthropomorphic animal characters in general.  But when it comes to the "My Little Pony" characters specifically, I prefer the original pony designs over anything else.  Just because they are the original designs that I fell in love with.

I find the pointless hate for the fandoms worse than the worst kind of people in the fandoms themselves honestly, thought there are special cases where some people just cant be taken into an inclusion of representatives for a fandom... they just pull it too far for pulling it far :|

Also been in the furry fandom to a somewhat secret degree forever, I am more proud of saying im a brony than a furry, people tend to take the furry way worse than being a brony. :/

I'm very cool with both art forms. I've been a furry for as long as I can remember, and it's being a furry and appreciating anthro art that probably helped get me into the show early on.

And for those that are interested, Brony annalist Dr.Wolf did a two part piece comparing the Brony fandom to the Furry fandom.

  • 7 years later...

I think it was perfect when the ponies had no fur, like in original G4. For G5, they got visible fur and hoof fur, and that is not really an original idea for design. It feels more like a back and fourth iPhone redesign than something unique and interesting.

So fur is not really interesting to me. It doesn't add anything to the design.
