How long is your hair?

My hair is short, but I let it grow out a little sometimes.

My hair is long, about down to the upper middle of my back. I've been growing it out as long as I can for going on 3 years now, because I love that style. It's definitely growing slower than I would like to the point where I question if I'll ever get it to the length / exact style I'm going for, but I might as well try while I still have hair.

My goal would be to achieve something resembling the style of the guy on the left with a hair color closer to the guy on the right:

I'm male. I used to have long hair, but I got sick of it. I keep it short nowadays, since it's easier to maintain.

If I wanted to I could let my hair grow out but I just don't like the way it feels on my head when it gets too long. I don't know how a lot of people deal with that feeling.
