For me, there's a few...

But I have to give a bit of backstory first.

When I was growing up, there were a loooooot of video games circulating around...

The console wars were going on, (The Real console wars...like the NES vs. the Genesis)

and people were going crazy over these awesome games!

...and then there was me.

to be honest, I never really had too many video games growing up...at least at first.

I always wanted them, but we never could really afford it...

My dad had a gameboy though! Not a coloured gameboy...the big ol' grey brick with the puke green screen.

But I loved that thing! Only had three Games...Tetris, Nemesis, and Super Mario Land.

All three of those still hold a special place in my heart, because they were the first games I ever owned.

In fact, if it weren't for tetris, I may never have become a DJ/Producer, as it was a remix of tetris that got me into EDM in the first place!

Now during my childhood, we did have a computer...ah the good ol Windows 98 "Extra Large 9gb Hard drive" desktop. For that I did in fact

get some good games. I enjoyed the First two Harry Potter games, Frogger 1&2, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Mini Golf Master (All seriously amazing games!)

So I guess I wasn't completely without things to play...

But later on down the line, I finally got my first console for Christmas...a PS2. I was so stoked to get one! It came as a complete surprise, and I was immediately hooked! I'm still in love with Kingdom Hearts, and Harmonix's "Frequency"...

But in all honesty...even though I got a PS2 which was top of the line at the time...I still hungered for the retro games my peers had...I still longed to play the original super smash bros on Nintendo 64, as well as Mario 64...I still longed to play Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, and of course...the entire library of the original NES...(I wasn't a sega fan really, just now got a Genesis for 10 bucks, so I'll give it a shot!) So over time I collected, and Now I own them all!

So the TLDR of this topic? a specific video game didn't really make my childhood...Video games in general did...and the thirst to collect.

I'm still a pretty avid gamer, and while I'll never really understand the attraction of some of the more modern consoles, I'll be happy to continue playing my own...just like I fantasized about as a kid.

I didn't have too many games as a child, but I did have a bit of Mario games. So like Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Kart, and Mario 64 were ones I really enjoyed.

Man, I completely forgot about Yoshi's island; that game was legendary. :pinkie:

  • 5 years later...

I can only narrow it down to 3. Super Smash Bros Melee was the first game i got into and has always been one of my favorites. Super Mario Sunshine and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 were 2 of the first games my family actually owned and I've spent countless hours skipping school to play all 3 of those games. I haven't played video games in years but I've been intensely itching to play THPS3 again. If I could just play 1 game for the rest of my life, that's what I'd choose. Those other 2 would be my next choices.

i'm still a child (i'm fourteen. i know some people don't consider adolescence a part of childhood, but i do), so i can't properly answer that question yet, but when i look back on my childhood a few years down the line, i'll probably say minecraft was the game that 'made' my childhood. it was the first game i ever played that i still play today and probably won't stop playing any time soon.

i've been enjoying it slightly less recently, but i doubt the impact it's had on my childhood (especially from 2015 to 2017) will ever be matched by any other game

This is far too tricky for me to narrow down to just a game or two. So instead, I will list the games from each platform that I had growing up that I adored most!

NES: Super Mario Bros. (Obvs)

SNES: Super Mario World (Obvsx2), Megaman X, Paperboy 2, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country

N64: Super Mario 64 (ObvsCombox3!), Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Stadium 1/2, 007 Goldeneye, Yoshi's Story, Mario Kart 64, Mario Party (Is Mario simply too obvious? :ButtercupLaugh:), Banjo Kazooie

PS1: Spyro the Dragon, Twisted Metal 2, Driver 1/2, SIM Theme Park (which would later be completely overshadowed by RCT which I played later), Demolition Racer, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Gameboy/Gameboy Advance: All the Pokemon games, Yoshi's Island (this is the version I played religiously), Spyro 2 Season of Flame

PC: Rollercoaster Tycoon (One of my all time favorites, I remember playing it for 13 hours straight or so when I bought it)

PS2: The Sims (my first PS2 title, such good memories of me and my sister playing it), Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City, Dynasty Warriors 4 (The game that started my obsession with Musou games

Xbox: Halo, Stubbs the Zombie

Gamecube: Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

Not sure what limit we are going to in terms of "childhood" so I guess this list sums it up the best for me. All of these wonderful memories.

Most of the Pokemon and Super Smash Bros games. Played those so much as a kid.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

GTA Vice City, and it was my second childhood! FIM was my third childhood. And MLPForums is my fourth childhood.

Who said you couldn't have more than one childhood?
