The mayans had many cycles, I believe the 2012 cycle is us gaining one more bak'tun, the date we will go from a bak'tun to a pictun (20 bak'tun's) will be october 13, 4772.

 

Many believe the end of a cycle means good luck for all, and that you will gain wealth and prosperity. I like that idea better than doomsday 2012

And more to the point, the idea that the world will end at the end of some calendar is ridiculous. It's just like me saying that we all going to die after tomorrow since it's the end of this month.

The world can end anyday, even thought the earth is OLD to us, but it IS pretty young still. And how could it end?? The sun wont go out, its fairly young. And yes, there was no room on the calender and also they say the world "was suppose" to end 7 months ago because there was no leap years back in the day, we'll be fine, im sure the world may end long waaaaaays from now, we'll already be dead

i believe its all bull because to predict something one needs to refer back to there own knowledge or memories there is no way that the world had ended before and there's no way anyone could predict the end of the world using there own knowledge.

2012 will be like the rapture, hyped, and will never happen, also the Mayan calender differs from the Gregorian calender, if we followed the Mayan calender, the world should've ended 2 1/2 years ago.

 

Also its possible the Mayan calender is unfinished, getting distracted with the arrival of the Europeans.
