Her official name is DJ Pon-3, IIRC. That's what's use dby Hasbro, anyway.

 

While I do prefer Vinyl Scratch, it's more of a fan-name that wasn't accepted as official in the show. I could be totally off base with that, though.

I think Vinyl Scratch is a more thought out name, and using numbers instead of letter is kind of a pet peeve of mine, so I prefer to use that. But all official merchandise uses DJ-Pon3.

This is my feeling, but I don't believe the show itself has ever established her name.  Maybe she'll talk and we'll confirm her name in the 100th episode.

Hasbro officially called her "DJ Pon-3" on the "Music to my ears" Equestria girls short about her (Well, in the comments section). I think Vinyl Scratch sounds more appealing, though.

Officially, she's DJ Pon-3. But the fandom commonly calls her from the placeholder name Hasbro used for her, Vinyl Scratch.

Vinyl is her real name. and DJ Pon-3 is her stage name. It was confirmed on a trading card, Even if that's not canon, it's basically what everyone thinks anyway, and I doubt that MLP will use the name Vinyl in episode 100. It'd be pretty cool if they did, though, alternating depending on if the pony saying her name is a close friend or a fan.

I attribute to the idea that Vinyl Scratch is her real name and DJ-PON3 is her stage name. Because even given pony naming conventions, I can't see a parent in Equestria naming their kid with something that contains number.

Vinyl Scratch is just the name given by the fandom. Official name is DJ-Pon3. I like the name Vinyl Scratch more but I will go for DJ-Pon3 due to it being her official name.

Hasbro did. At 2012's Las Vegas Licensing Expo, Hasbro presented a booth, and one of them had a banner of the unicorn with "Vinyl Scratch" as the name (the "n" containing a dieresis dialect).

I Love both names, this is how i see it..

 

Her Fans, or people who like her music or performances or whatever: They will Call her DJ-Pon 3, as said before is her stage name.

 

Closer family and friends: Vinyl, or Vinyl Scratch, i personally like this name a bit better, it is a bit more creative and personally makes me have a good feeling
