Well, you have to take into consideration just what music encompasses. Yeah, music exists by itself, but what else beyond that?

 

What about the background orchestral music you often hear in movies, tv shows, and video games? What would Star Wars and Jurassic Park be without John Williams? How about Star Trek: The Next Generation's theme? Or the Nordic chants in Skyrim?

 

Such media might become less engaging...

I always have a bit of music in my mind. Everyone at work hates that I turn off the radio, and when they ask why I just tell them that I have music running in my head. The craptastic music on radio makes it hard for me to hear my own "radio". It is nice to always have music running in one's own head, except for that one winter where I had the theme for Green Acres stuck in my head FOR THE ENTIRE WINTER!!!!! :'(

 

Recently it has been mostly Tornado of Souls and Holy Wars by Megadeth and Sanitarium by Metallica. Fine pieces to be stuck in my mind...

A lot of my creative thinking would most likely go with it. Music really helps me channel creative thoughts, whether it be a story, graphic art thing, or whatever. Anything like that would be impacted severely in no negative way. Plus music helps me relax and channel emotions, so I would be less creative and more grumpy most likely.

I was confused for a moment and misread that as "Imagine if Magic suddenly ceased to exist". XD 

 

I think I'll be fine without it. Sure music is very helpful in giving people some comfort and inspiration, but at least then I would have more quiet time and more focus on my own writing.
