In the show: alicorns, unicorns, pegasi, and finally earth ponies (hands-level manipulation FTW).

 

In the fanon: unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies. Alicorns are dead to me for OCs. I've NEVER seen any non-Mary Sue or justified alicorn in this fandom, except for Nyx (and Cadence is only going to make this worse). In truth pegasus ponies and unicorns will always be more preferred than earth ponies. Pegasuses can fly, and unicorns have the power of magic. Yet earth ponies don't seem to have anything special about them, and few would love them for being themselves. Yet all the same I like earth ponies. Even though I know few others do. I believe that in every earth pony there is something special just not readily seen as is the case with pegasuses and unicorns. Hidden things that make them on par with their counterparts. I admit it would be cool to fly or cast magic spells, but I feel there is something more to earth ponies. Something that is always overlooked yet present. When I think about earth ponies and people's preferences to pegasuses and unicorns. I am often reminded about a scene in Friendship is Witchcraft. Where Pinkie Pie wants to be adopted by Fluttershy's father, but is rejected because she is an earth pony. She even says "Just like always...".

 

In fact I would be certain most would want to adopt Pinkie Pie if they knew how special she really was. Though all they see, is a boring old earth pony. Even the OP of this thread stated as much. This is what I see, and yet I never see a difference being made in perception. The poll of this thread is very telling. For this reason. For ponies like Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Noi, Carrottop, etc. The ponies that few love because they appear boring and useless. I will vote for them, because I see them for what most others cannot.

Pegasus without a doubt, I would love to fly and speed through the clouds. As I am as grounded as an Earth Pony I cannot do this, but it is my dream and always will be. The speed aquired, the power needed, and the freedom doing it. Nothing could be better then to fly though the skys with no cares in the world and nothing to slow me down.
