Would you give your life for the fandom?

You know what's wrong with the fandom these days?  Everyone is obssessed with death!

And no, I wouldn't give my life for the fandom.  Maybe for a person, but not for the fandom.  But sometimes I kind of wish I could sacrifice my life for some great ideal, like William Wallace or something.  Sometimes I imagine what would happen if I was killed just for being a brony, or just for wearing a dress, which I also do.  It would suck, sure, but if the positive backlash it would surely cause helped to change the world for the better, I think I might be okay with that.  In other words, if my being the victim of a hate crime actually resonated with people and prompted positive change, I think I'd be willing to give my life for that.  I'm miserable anyway, so if my life could do that for people, then why not?  But don't get me wrong--I don't want to willingly sacrifice my life just for the fandom.  I ain't some kinda psycho.

This is supposed to be a show, a mere hobby, not some twisted cult even if some may treat it that way.

Oh... I dont know... Have you seen the last Brony con pictures? Lol ;)

Awwwww come on now, wheres that Brony Fandom spirit!!!!

Through your sacrifices (And trust me im willing to sacrifice a lot of you) in the name of the goddess Foust, this fandom shall prosper forever!!!

:yay:

grim topics are best topics.... the Forums topics have been too cheerful lately

the fandom saved me from a self destructive life 3 years ago.... it would only seem right to end what it tried to save, if its for the better good of the fandom

hmm... it appears the fandom means more to me than all of you combined...

Absolutely not. I don't want to be forever after known as the Brony Martyr, not for a show that will, sad to say, ultimately come to an end and have a waning base of active fans.

Well, the question is vague.

Are we to die trying to protect people?

Or just the abstract idea?

I'd be willing to lay down my life for people (though who knows if I'd have the courage to do it). But for the idea? It can't really die, because it'll live on in me at least. So that's a moot point.

It's a bug and a feature!

No, God no. This isn't a lifestyle for me, it's just a hobby - something I like to do on the sideline when I'm not doing anything else.

Haha yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm not saying I don't care about the fandom, I love it to death. But it's not something I would give my life for.

This kind of reminds me of discussions we have had in my Buddhist group. Some people would be willing to die for their faith, but I don't think I personally would. As for dying for a TV show? Hell to the no way. That'd be pretty extreme.

As much as I don't see my own life as worth much (inferiority complex n' stuff), I definitely would not do this. This fandom overall has changed my life in ways, and I am grateful for that, like, a lot, but if I ever even considered 'giving' my life for it, that would be treating it more like a cult than a fandom and that would not be good.

I honestly don't know, this is a pretty hard choice to make. I would probably just go with instinct when situation calls.

Nope. There are other things in my life that are more important than this fandom.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Well....my concept if rather different.

For me I would give my life, as I feel that the fandom as a community has given me a second chance. A new life which is better and more cheerful. So I feel that it is not mine to keep. If I have to give it up to save others, or to maintain this ideal, then that is fine. So that it can continue to be the gift that keeps giving to others. And saving their lives in turn.
