I've wondered if Sunset Shimmer will make an appearance in season 5.  I liked the progression of her character in Rainbow Rocks, and I'd like to see more of her learning as Twilights student and friend.   One of the things I've always appreciated about this show is that there IS character progression.  As for how it will end, I have no guesses.  I'm happy to just wait and see what happens next.  The start of the season so far has felt kind of underwhelming for me so far, but we're only 8 episodes in, so I expect good things to come.

I'd say definitely a fizzle. Hasbro is going to be intent on keeping this rolling until sales drop off, and then will bleed the show of resources slowly until they simply cancel it all together. As such, i wouldn't be surprised if the final season was a half season, and it just kind of "ends" rather than having a nice, wrapped up feel.

Starlight Glimmer returns and takes the Cutie Marks of Everypony in Equestria. Since the ponies without cutie marks are immune. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are the only hope for Equestria. So they team up with the non pony charaters and fight back and restore everypony's cutie mark. Also there will be a lot of Chaos in that episode from Dischord.

Well, ONE season confirmed after this one; and keep in mind, S6 could always be a half season. So I'll take the future with a grain of salt in that we don't know how much we have left.

 

 

Anyways, not really expecting much this season. given starlight glimmer's mundaneness compared to other villains, I bet she just finds a magical artifact or spell that lets her cast her spell over all of equestria, and it more or less gets overloaded just by how the CMC and the mane six seem to be teaching people to like their cutie marks. Maybe even with a focus on the CMC in the finale and them getting their marks.

what about Mr Greenhooves? He doesn't have a cutie mark. Or since you mention Discord- who also doesn't have a cutie mark- why couldn't he save the day? Make up for trying to send a pony to another dimension, right in front of Celestia and Twilight.

Right now we don't even need to worry about this. The show isn't doing badly so it is possible we might have round about ten seasons before My Little Pony ends. That is when they'll do a reboot or make a spin-off series.

That is a very interesting thought.  It would also be cool if in the process they get cutie marks that somehow link them together.

It'll end with the writers fizzling out while thousands of fans scream ever-loving praise at them constantly demanding more fanservice that caters exclusively to them while a sizable dissatisfied portion of it is kept suppressed in order to keep everything happy and cheery and will finally be cancelled due to poor rating from the target demographic.

That or it turns out like the Simpsons, where it just never ends and people debate endlessly about when the show was good and that it should end.

I'm hoping it ends with a bang, Season 2 and 4 certainly did. A 3-parter sounds interesting, but only as long as they have a story to tell, otherwise it could feel like expanding a short story just to fill runtime. Though, I hope they save their biggest guns for the last season or the movie

The plan would be to give each of the Mane 5 and Spike their own separate finale episode to settle their business. Then the Twilight Sparkle finale episode. Last episode is a wind down after the previous episode for the Mane 6 to end it at their leisure.

I would go with a variant of the way they ended the series "St Elsewhere".  Reveal that Twilight blew her mind in the magic surge (seen in Cutie Mark Chronicles), is now a handicapped janitor at Celestia's School & dreamed the whole series.

 

I rate the chances of this happening as somewhat less than my chances of dating Taylor Swift

 

Seriously,  I'd go with

1) CMCs get Cutie Marks

2) Spike gets wings

3) Mane 6 all become alicorns

In that order.
