I've stuck with Gone Airbourne since 2008 after joining a members group of the band I love named Airbourne. This username is a combination of my favorite AC/DC song called 'Gone Shootin' & with the band name Airbourne. Thus Gone Airbourne.

 

Lucky Dice I relate to the Band Social Distortion and in one of their songs they say that life's just like the roll of the dice.

I am a Kirby, through and through! Very rarely do I variegate, and that's only for purposes of matching my persona on that site (especially for roleplay), or if I made an account there before I settled on MiniKirby123. Sometimes it changes a little (Minikirbs, kirbs, mini, minikirby357, etc.), but I don't tend to do a complete flip.

I had this very horrific catastrophe where I accidentally used the wrong persona on a forum (I had multiple "characters" that I pretended to be, and everyone was convinced that we were separate people). It was horrible and I don't want to talk about that ever again.

Yes, I use multiple names/accounts online wherever possible. Why?

Well, in short, because of privacy.

Nowadays, nearly every web corporation, leading with Google & YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, are trying their best to get as many information about you as possible and then sell it to whoever pays them for it (including three-letter government agencies). And they will use different methods (leading with cookies and Flash local storage) to track you along your path through the Web and monitor your every move. And I simply don't want them to know so much about me. It's my privacy and it's not their business what I do on the Web, what sites I visit, which comments I write and what is my profile of interests.

 

But since I cannot simply stop them from invading my privacy, and they always want my personal data, I give them what they want: a whole lot of fake personal data, to poison their databases with unuseful information. I have several fake accounts on Google+ and Facebook, each of them filled with fake profile data, each of them different, and linked to different subjects of interest. For example, I create an account with the language set to British English, physical location set to London, and subscribing the YouTube channels of several universities in London, and voilà: I'm a nerd from London according to Google bots There are several accounts I use on YouTube to watch MLP-related content and post pony-related comments. I almost never use it for anything else. I have separate accounts for different types of content. And I'm trying my best to make sure they will never connect the dots. It can be hard sometimes, due to a huge amount of techniques they use to track people on the Web. But I'm constantly improving my anti-tracking techniques as well. E.g. I don't use Google for searching anymore, I use DuckDuckGo.com or some other independent web search methods with less tracking mechanisms. I have browser plugins to manage my cookies so that I can remove all the tracking bugs off my skin if I need it, or spoof my HTTP headers to make it harder to track me by those.

 

Of course these methods are not perfect. If you really want to find my other accounts, you will. One of the users of this forum already found one of them on YouTube. But just one so far, and he put quite a bit of effort to do it, by comparing my posts and finding some writing patterns which are unique to me. This is rather to avoid automatic tracing of my web activity by Google's bots and artificial intelligence algorithms. It's not immune of real intelligence

 

The account I use right now to write this post, is my general name I use on the Web for my usual, general activity when I don't need to hide anything from anyone. This one I use publicly where no privacy is required. You can find it on other websites as well.

 

And I guess that using multiple accounts will soon be a must if one doesn't want his/her entire life and activity to be known by corporations and sold to everyone around. It is a natural response of society for corporations' personal information greed.

I use SCS most everywhere I can. I go by other names on sites like Reddit because I don't want some of my friends who are underage to try to look me up there. I don't post bad stuff on reddit or anything, not including profanity, but some of the subreddits I participate in involving things like war and other present-day social issues are 18+ due to the content they host.

The only place I'm active-ish on where I have a name that's not a variation of Cheza is dA, where I somehow decided I wanted to go by Zaryte.

(That was wayyyy before I had actually joined any fandoms or tried picking an online/OC/Fursona name for myself tho, so that kinda explains it I guess)
