spoiler I'm so ashamed (Shining Armor in EP 19

Okay so when I watched "THE One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" on the day it aired, I instantly knew that the scene where Shining was acting like a little kid was nothing but a trap from Hasbros to make people actually take an interest in him or at least stop us from seeing him as a "Flash Sentry" with development.

 

.....and it so f*cking worked. Up until now, I never really took a huge liking to Shining Armor. I only liked him because he was the husband of everyone's beloved Princess and sister to "best pony Twilight".

 

But seeing him go crazy for his room....that one silly scene with him behaving like a little child getting a new toy....made me nearly explode from the adorableness. Am I the only one? D*mn you Hasbros....

Eh, he's already gotten more development in the IDW comics than the Show anyway.

 

This, always nice to see him to a little more ("little" being the keyword here) than being a nigh-useless stiff of a plot device.

No I clearly haven't read them, but I've been aware of this knowledge of there being a comic about that for awhile now. But even with that knowledge, I still never grew interested with him in the SERIES. 

 

 

Think about those who don't even know that a comic about them meeting didn't exist, all they will be forced to work with is his character in the show. And you can't deny there isn't MUCH to work with when it comes to Shining Armor. I enjoyed to see this quirky adorable scene.

And I don't recall even saying he "didn't" have any development at all. In fact, all I said was he was like a "Flash Sentry" with development. And I personally think that saying he has development at all in the series is as great as a compliment I could ever give him. Because many would say he was nothing but a random plot device.....which...he is pretty much in the show.

Not many husbands can pull that off without dire consequences! If my husband threw me off of the balcony, I'd sure have something to say about it!

 

I do think that Shining is much more than "Flash with development". His introduction was a bit sudden, but fits well with the series. Maybe it's because I have my own BBBFF, that I like him so much.

I don't blame ya at all. This was easily the best moment that Shining has ever had in the show and it made me giggle with joy. A lot. Shining is not a character that I dislike, he is just one that I really wish they could do something more with. Like having him super geek out over his childhood, that was nice. This in combination with his voice (which is very....Stallionly) made it extra cute, I instantly thought Shining was cute form that scene, so good job Hasbro. You made Shining Armor cute.

I like Shining Armor, he's just never had the opportunity to shine (pun not intended) in an episode. I'd love to see him having a center role in an episode sometime.

It's a hard scene for me to really classify, but I do like that it shows Shining is still a child by heart and it does add a certain dimension to his character, and it also confirms the comic's in that he is a nerd.
