First, may we all bow our heads and have a moment of silence to take in how adorable Marble Pie and Big Mac were in Hearthsbreakers.

Anyway, I sort of knew right away that the BigMarble ship would take off like lightning as soon as the episode aired. And I'm just going to say this just to get this out of the way because honestly my focus isn't really on this: Yes I'm aware it's possible that the two could be distant cousins but I could care less because there are no legal consequences for that in real life and if you think about it: the REAL WILD is probably full of incest relationships more than we can count. I don't see the big deal of it. 

 

My main focus is this: am I the only one who thinks the writers created Marble Pie as she was and made her interact with Big Mac just to screw around with the Fandom and have a good laugh? I probably am...but I find the idea hilarious

 

 Marble Pie is a recolored, less extreme version of Fluttershy with a Pinkamena hairstyle. Is she a bad character? Of course not! I actually love her and she is adorable. The moment when she opened her mouth (well...she really didn't but you know what I mean) I KNEW the ship would take off. Because the fandom is known for two of the most basic pairing theories: "opposites attract" and "dating your counterpart". It's the main reason why the Bigshy ship is one of the biggest ships in MLP aside from exclusive Mane 6 shipping. I haven't really seen any real interaction between those two, so I imagine people ship them because they are both "shy" (?)

 

So here we have Marble Pie jumping in and the writers pair them off easily. They blush, say their catchphrases, and so the ship sails. It's amusing because it's still a Big Mac x Fluttershy ship. And I don't even think that them blushing means anything.....Applebloom blushed at Maud when they were alone on the scavenger hunt....pretty sure that didn't mean she was having lesbo feelings for the emo rock girl. And the Pie Parents blushed at Granny Smith as well....does that mean they are going to ask her to be in a polyamorous relationship with them? No. But when Big MAc and Marble does, the fact that both of him are alike instantly makes them a big ship hit. 

 

I'm not going to lie, I did fall for it. I NEVER liked the Big Mac and Fluttershy pairing because the two rarely even cross paths. I like BigMarble better simply because they interacted but I still don't hardcore ship them because I honestly believe this was a inside joke. xD What do you guys think? I'm sure there are similar/different opinions

This isn't even worth writing a long explanation over. Just gonna say it like this: I never said the blushing between the other two parties meant nothing. I'm saying that they weren't romantic nor did they imply a lighthearted crush. You're free to think whatever you want but regardless of how you take it, I'm confident it's far from the truth about what I'm implying.

HA! That's my point exactly. if they did that on purpose, I swear I'd pat them on the back. Makes me wonder what they talk about and laugh at whenever something like this is given to the fandom

Yeah, it did look like the Pie's were maybe a little embarrassed by the more outgoing Apple family, hence the blushing.  The fact that Mac and Marble were portrayed as a little more...I dunno, what's a good word; flirtatious?  Maybe not the best description, but this was ship-bait no matter how you look at it.  And no matter the intent the writers had in mind, the MarbleMac ship has left the port and it ain't never comin' back.

 

I'm not big on shipping myself.  I usually just roll my eyes and walk away, but I don't mind this one.  It actually makes sense and could realistically happen if the writers chose to elaborate on it later in the series.

Interesting thought:  maybe they just wanted to juxtapose Big Mack's short catchphrase with Marble Pie's.  They did that in an IGN comic where they juxtaposed Big Mack's "Nnnnope." next to Snowflake/Bulk Biceps' "YEEEEEAAAAAAAHH!!" for several panels, and it was hilarious!

 

It's a thought; what little I've seen of their scenes together is just them being shy, and it's ambiguous whether they're flirting or not.  Actually, that ambiguity could totally be intentional on the part of the writers; I wonder if there'll be a funny background event in a future episode where Cheerilee gives BM "the look" while Marble Pie is in the background...?

I have a pretty strong guess you didn't see this part....or actually read the post at all. I'm not sure.  I literally implied about this in my first post, but as I said, it wasn't really the focus of my topic. I'm aware this topic already exists, but I don't think it's fair to limit anyone else's desires to make their own thread on the similar subject just because someone else already has:

Meh.....I think they are cute, but don't ship them seriously. If it is ever confirmed that they are related....I'm pretty sure the fandom wouldn't give a f*ck xDDD There's no stopping the shipping fandoms. They are all immortal. When the world ends, the ships will remain alive like roaches.

The focus of the topic is the possibility that Marble's design and interaction with Big Mac was created purposely to mess with the fandom knowing well enough the fans will buy into and ship the two hardcore. The joke is that it doesn't matter what happens between two parties....people will escalate it to something bigger than what it might be intended for. Hell, I even fall for it sometimes. 

 

 

But if you ask me, how their interactions were executed are admirable. I bet if the writers could do something with it if they wanted to. But I'm sure they won't. If they do, I stand corrected....and the families may not be related after all.

Honestly, I don't do this whole shipping thing. It is cute to think about, but I barely think about it. THIS, however, this paring, regardless if it was intentional or not, this adorable. The paring between Mac and Marble just screams potential. So much so that I would rather have it go beyond simple 'shipping' and go into a real relationship between the two in the show. It will never happen but one can dream. So good on the writers for actually making me care about a shipping couple for once. XD

I find it strange that even though I usually don't care for shipping, I do like the idea of pairing up Big Mac and Marble Pie. For some reason, I instantly liked seeing them blushing at each other. I can see potential for their relationship to be developed in future seasons, though I'm not sure the writers would actually do that. Also, I'm not sure how the fandom would take it. As long as it was done right though, I'd be in support of it.
