sports Favorite Racetracks in the World

Racing. Pretty cool sport. Thanks to the Forza series, I have become interested in GT racing. So I have grown to like certain tracks that I have read about and played on in the games.

So the question, what are your favorite racetracks in the world? This can be from any type of racing, so go all out. ^__^

My absolute favorite is the famous Nuburgring, the full circuit. That track is just immense and so complex, I love it. :3 I play that track all the time in Forza 6.

Oh and I forgot to mention Indianapolis. That is another favorite of mine, thanks to bias. :P I live in Indiana.

So to list my current favorites:

  • Nurburgring
  • Laguna Seca
  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway
  • Circuit De Catalunya
  • Virginia International Raceway
  • Brohoof 3

Ahh... Nürburgring. Home of the world's fastest roller coaster! 134 mph (216 km/h). No wait... It's only 99 mph (159 km/h). ...And it didn't open until after its would-be record was already eclipsed. ...And now it's closed forever after just one weekend. What a failure!

Anyway, I don't know anything about racing aside from Mario Kart, but that track does look really cool! :)

I'd love to go to the Ring someday, but I've grown up seeing Daytona from the other side of a TV screen for so long and imagining how glorious it could all be. I actually got to go there a few times, and many parts of it do hold up to what I imagined it to be. I like how the high banking and simple layout make it the perfect track to just let 'em rip.

In the Gran Turismo series, I found Fuji a hell of a lot of fun to drive, Suzuka and Laguna Seca to be fun roller coaster tracks with their high average speeds and elevation changes, and I really wish the Kart Space could exist in real life. Ditto for Dodge Raceway Stadium from NASCAR 2005.

My bucket list has Bristol on it. Le Mans looks like a fun place to visit as well. I'd also like to check out Lime Rock, and I love the high speeds and elevation changes at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, definitely another one I'd like to check out.

There are some truly great racetracks out there in the world.  :D  Here's just a few of my favourites:

  • Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo
  • Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia
  • Brands Hatch, Kent, UK
  • Donington Park, UK
  • Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Spa, Belgium
  • Hockenheimring (The original from pre-2002), Germany
  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indiana
  • Suzuka Circuit, Japan
  • Circuit de la Sarthe, France

I've been to Monaco, Donington and Hockenheim myself, so I have a particular fondness for those ones, but this list is by no means extensive. I'm always looking to add to it the next great racetrack.

First one I really liked was Laguna Seca, especially the downhill corkscrew. Thank you Gran Turismo for getting me into racing!

Eventually began liking others like Nurburgring, Sebring, Circuit de la Sarthe, and Brands Hatch.

You rang?

North America:

  • Barber Motorsports Park (Nashville Superspeedway is closed, and I'm not to big on ovals, so I consider this my "home track")
  • VIRginia international Raceway (First track I've ever actually driven on)
  • Watkins Glen
  • Sonoma Raceway (or Sears Point if you still live in the 90's)
  • Daytona (Went there is 2005, would go again)
  • Sebring
  • Circuit of the Americas (US GP 2012, nuff said)
  • Mid-Ohio
  • Laguna Seca
  • Long Beach (IMHO as far as street circuits go, 2nd only to Monaco)
  • Road Atlanta
  • Road America
  • Indy
  • Mont Tremblant (Canada)
  • Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport to the rest of us)

As we can see, America has quite a few awesome tracks. Canada has a few that I like, but Mosport and Mont Tremblant stand out to me.

Europe:

  • Spa-Francorchamps (I've driven both the modern and historic layouts, both AMAZING)
  • Nurburgring Nordschliefe (obligatory, hard to spell, very hard to beat.)
  • Monza (lol downforce)
  • Brands Hatch
  • Silverstone (I originally hated when they changed the layout for 2009, and then finished the current pit complex for 2010, but I've gotten used to it and I still love it)
  • Zolder (aka That Other Belgian Track)
  • Donnington (Senna, 1993, epic)
  • Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
  • Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans, all you need to know)
  • Hungaroring (Hosted the 1st F1 race behind the Iron Curtain, and is quite fun)
  • Zandvoort (Sand Forward in english. I've had an actual Dutch person tell me this.)
  • Top Gear Test Track (OK. this one is a stretch, but it is world renowned, designed by Lotus, used by McLaren to test their cars, and is the home of a man who is not machine-washable and thinks Star Wars is a documentary.)
  • Mugello
  • Euro Speedway Lausitzring
  • Imola
  • Magny-Cours (F1, Y U no French GP!?)
  • Autodromo Internacional do Algarve
  • Redbull Ring (deceptively simple, yet hard to master)
  • Paul Ricard HTTT (it has all all of the layouts)

Lesson here: Tilkedromes suck.

Asia and Oceania: (I didn't want to list Australia and New Zealand by themselves)

  • Suzuka (obligatory)
  • Motegi
  • Autopolis (this one really needs to be in more games)
  • Okayama
  • Mine Circuit (unfortunately, it closed for racing in 2002, but Mazda owns it now as a vehicle testing round. If you ever get the chance to drive it in a game, do it.)
  • Sepang (The first track designed by Herman Tilke for F1, and arguably his best work)
  • Mt. Panorama (Bathurst 1000, 'nuff said. Oh, and
  • Phillip Island
  • Oran Park (currently a housing development, lives on in simracing)
  • Surfer's Paradise (Former CART/Champcar, now V8 Supercars)
  • Albert Park ('Strayan Grand Prix)
  • Adelaide Street Circuit, both old F1 and current V8 Supercars layout (best way to do it here, you have to pluck it 1st, give some jandal and fuck yeah!)
  • Macau Guia Circuit (Tighter than anything you can compare it to. ANYTHING)
  • Ruapuna Park (never heard of it until Project CARS, glad I know of it now)

In Europe, there was the SuperV8 series, but that folded after a few years. I wish there was a V8 Supercars equivalent in States. NASCAR, while OK to watch the road course races, just isn't enough for me.

And the rest:

  • Interlagos
  • Kyalami
  • Dubai Autodrome (only track in the Middle East that I actually enjoy)
  • Brohoof 2

Well, here's a few, in no particular order:

  • Laguna Seca
  • Spa-Francorchamps
  • Zandvoort
  • Zolder
  • Lime Rock Park
  • Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park
  • Sonoma
  • Imola
  • Suzuka
  • Okayama
  • Road America
  • Road Atlanta
  • Donington
  • Nurburgring, the GP circuit and Nordschleife. The VLN layout is my favourite
  • Fuji Speedway, if you own rFactor, download the old circuit. That banked corner (Daiichi) is epic, the first time you enter it you immediately understand why it was deemed too dangerous to race. It's terrifying.
  • Valencia
  • Kyalami
  • Redbull Ring
  • Monza
  • Watkins Glen

I'm sure i forgot some epic circuits that deserve to be on the list, but those are what first came to mind and what i most enjoy driving in racing sims.

You all are mentioning so many tracks I forgot about in my original post. XD Laguna Seca is another wonderful one, that one is actually quite the test of skill, especially the corkscrew turn. Catalunya is another top favorite of mine. That one is so very technical with so many turns and I love it! ^__^

I am also seeing many mentions for the Japanese circuits. I really hope they add some of those to Forza 6. *__*

Personally living in California, my favorite racetracks would be Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Thunderhill Raceway, Sears point, Buttonwillow, and Willow springs.

I also love Nurburgring, Tsukuba, VIR, Mid-Ohio, Road Altanta, Sebring, COTA, and Ebisu.

Here is some sick miata action in Laguna Seca during the Mazdas at Laguna Seca 2015!

You have gotten to witness Laguna Seca up close? You lucky person you. :3 California also has Sonoma if I recall and of course long beach, Sonoma is pretty cool too. I wish Indiana would build a new circuit for racing. I know The Brickyard is super famous and stuff but we need a new complex course.

The GP course they stuffed into the infield was very meh. When they revamped the circuit for Grand-Am, MotoGP, and Indycar, it was better, but you can only do so much with such a small area. A dedicated circuit would be a better option, but a very expensive one. Even if you're not looking to build a Grade 1 circuit, you'd still be looking at millions just to build.

Some personal favourites of mine:

Suzuka - Love all the twists and turns, great to drive in games as well as to watch

Spa-Francorchamps - It's lost a lot of its character over the years but still a classic

Red Bull Ring/A1 Ring/Osterreichring - I like it mainly because of its elevation. Back in the '80s it used to be a super fast sweeping track with banked corners as well!

Monza - So much history

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve/Montreal - Always seems to produce great racing, plus I like the idea of a track built on a man-made island

Silverstone - Again, so much history! There are a few other good British tracks (where I'm from) like Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton as well

I feel so unoriginal in saying the track that is so stereo-typically the number one answer to such a question, but... My favorite is Nürburgring, however to be more specific, Nordschleife, or "The North Loop," is probably my favorite part of the track.

I remember it being the best track on Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2 years ago... I also love watching POV videos on YouTube of it:

That sound though  :squee:

My favourite racetrack is the "Circle of Death and Despair". It's a dirt track my friends and I made in the back paddock of my mates farm when we were kids, we used to race dirt bikes around it. I know it technically isn't a world famous track but we put so much effort into making it that I can't think of any other track besides that one as being my favourite.
