Angel.

 

People who complain about Angel being "a jerk" are missing the point. He's there to help Fluttershy. He balances out alot of her personality weaknesses, brings her out of her timidity, encourages her to get to the point...he really does care alot about her. Take a look at the "Ponyville Confidential" episode where he refuses to let the Cutie Mark Crusaders speak with Fluttershy, who's in tears over the "tail extensions" gossip they printed. Angel is blunt but some people need that in their lives, otherwise they just tread water without actually going anywhere. That's kind of the relationship my dad had with me when I was younger. And that's why I appreciated people with Angel's personality.

 

He still needs to learn to eat carrots properly, however.

Everypony knows Tom is the best pet. Heck, he was carried on a princess's shoulders, and was hanging out with a fashinesta. Tom got it going on in the pet catagory.

 

But seriously, I would pick Gummy.

Gummy. Hands down. Tank is a close second, as my love for reptiles andamphibians spawns highly on the site of tortoises, but...Gummy. 

Gummy is amazing. 

Gummy is the meaning of life.

Gummy guides you to where you need to go.

And he just kinda sits there. But....While he does, he is thinking. Thinking about your eternal feelings. The eternity of everything. 

Gummy wants you to be happy.

Gummy cares.

Unlike Angel. Angel will spit in your food. And cough like a man. A rude, unloving man. Gummy makes no noise. He is the perfect being.

Even though Fluttershy is my favorite character, I personally can't stand Angel. He's a spoiled little brat of a bunny and is far from being an angel. Tank is my favorite out of the pets. He's so adorable, loyal and kind, and I love how he was the only one to stop and help Rainbow Dash when she was stuck. The moments between RD and her pet are too cute. ^-^

Peewee was the baby phoenix that Spike looked after. He was first seen in Dragon Quest.

I like gummy for 3 reasons.

 

1. He likes Pinkie for who she is.

 

2. He has the best lines in the whole series (next to Tom)

 

3. That action scene in Season 1 was just epic.

Spike is by far the best assistant. Twilight doesn't call him #1 for nothing. He's always there to send letters to the princess, find books, and also keep things nice and neat. Owlowiscious is helpful for Twilight's nightly chores and duties, plus he keeps Twilight in good company since he's nocturnal. Winona is also a useful assistant. That dog is a loving member of the Apple Family who is always ready to assist Applejack with herding and corralling other critters. Tank is very tenacious and will do his best for Rainbow Dash in any given situation, and he's quite strong too. Opal tries to keep Rarity in line when she's acting out, as seen in Sweet and Elite when she pawed at Rarity's design for Twilight's birthday dress. Opal might be moody, but she knew that Twilight should have taken priority over Rarity's Canterlot "friends." Angel helps Fluttershy to be more assertive and truthful, despite his spoiled attitude. And Gummy.... is just Gummy, but we love him anyway.

 

Usefulness aside, my favorite is Winona simply because she's a cute little Border Collie.

Well, without a doubt, Spike is the best assistant in my opinion.

 

Yet sadly, he is underestimated as not only as a slightly underrated character, but also somewhat known as a background character, which is not right, because he is a great friend, learns from his mistakes, helps out twilight and her friends, and most importantly, shares a great sister and brother like bond with Twilight, which is sweet and adorable!

 

 

As for best pet, my vote goes to Wionna, she, out of all the mane 6's pets, is not only the most well trained of them all, but is well domesticated, loyal, and a loving dog that anyone would love to have!

Spike is easily the best. He's the only one of them that talks and has a significant personality for one thing. He's funny, helpful and loyal, kind of how I try to be. Well as far as Character goes and being an interesting character I think Spike wins easily in my book. I actually find him a funny and even interesting character, and I think hes kinda underrated.

 

Gummy wins for being so random and just being kinda adorable for an aligater xD. But Spike is very well developed compared to the others on the list.

 

Pewee is also really adorable actually. But idk if he counts.
