music Best Video Game Soundtracks

Megaman X. Definitely Megaman X. It was the first time I received a taste of rock and metal and I loved the genres ever since. Any kind of music that associates to Rockman X is an instant favorite of mine. I speak of the very first Megaman X game, mind you, although the soundtracks for the following games are pretty awesome as well.

I also really love the soundtrack for Illusion of Gaia, particularly the introduction and credits which do a fantastic job of capturing the feel of the game, its setting, the story, and the adventure that the main characters embark on throughout the world. The credits even made me shed a tear the first time I finished it.

Then there's Metal Gear Rising. I'm one of the few who actually really likes the game and I think the reason for it is the music. The way it hypes you for battle is just superb and I love it.

It's a bit of an obscure one, but I'm gonna have to say Rayman M/Rayman Arena

This is a good one

As is this one

My all time favorite would have to be Neon Night from Halo 3:ODST. There's just something magical about it. I know that sounds corny, but still. It's just so relaxing.

I think nobody here has likely played Homefront all that much. (I didn't really like the game overall myself, but I do like the main theme)

And Halo 3's entire soundtrack. It's just awesome biggrin.png

Fallout 3 Base 4. (I kinda like the patrioticness)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNxgKHX2B0g

And also, TF2's main theme.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDM2qukzKwg&list=PL7A2B9473889FB12C&index=1

And also ODST's somewhat relaxingly depressing soundtrack.

And now to be a little bit classic...

Crash Bandicoot for PSX has some really fun and catchy themes, all five Crash games for Playstation 1. His counterpart, Spyro, has some really calm and perfect themes that suit the heavenly levels they are taken in.

My favourite OC: Veigar, The Master of Evil

My other OC/s: Viktor, The Machine Herald

Bastion. Particularly Zia's Theme, "Build That Wall." The VA has an amazing singing voice, though oddly, her speaking voice is underwhelming. And the actual lyrics are deep and once their meaning registers, slightly terrifying.

Dragon Warrior IV, hands down.

If these don't get you pumped and ready to kick some flank, I don't know what will. Koichi Sugiyama is a genius.

Without a doubt, my favorite video game soundtrack is from one of my favorite games ever, Shenmue. It was this game that showed me that video games were an art form and the music really helped me realize that.

Thinking about it..
The more I (re)play Portal 2, the more I realise how good the soundtrack for that game is.

Particularly:

and of course:

I'm not even big on electro music, but for this game it's a huge exception.

It just blends in so well to the game and really adds to the atmosphere.
God, the more I think about this game the more I fall in love with it.

The

is actually pretty darn amazing.  For a space combat / trading sim, it's veeerry immersive.  I really can't seem to think of anything that's more immersive off the top of my head.

The

is definitely intense, and gives me goosebumps every single time.  You're a tiny group of skilled fighters against a literally unlimited swarm of deadly agile fighters on their turf, in a self-contained sphere around a sun.  The fighting never ends.  You're constantly surrounded, and you have to destroy a gargantuan installation while being bombarded by weaponry that whittles your shields down to nothing in ten seconds flat.

But

when you win the game is worth it. <3

Basically anything from the Legend of Zelda series, also Super Mario Galaxy!

Not to mention some of the classics ranging from Super Mario 64 on the N64, to Mario titles on the SNES. As you can clearly tell, I am a fan of Nintendo.

:)
