(This is in reference to yesterday's episode, so spoiler tag just in case) I was watching Applejack's Day off and in the start of the steam room line, Rarity and Applejack literally bump into Caramel who seems to almost tower over them in that scene. Maybe i'm wrong, but Caramel has never seemed like a particularly tall stallion to me, and to my knowledge hasn't had enough scenes (if any) with any of the Mane 6 to suggest that he's that tall compared to any of them. So, am i just wrong about this, or have proportions changed?

I didn't really notice that during the episode.

My best guess would be that sense Caramel is only a background character, inconsistencies like these are bound to happen.

Or this is just a result of the improved animation that the series has been getting each season.

Well, its possible that he got a little bigger, or it was the camera angle that made him look that big, or made him look smaller in the past?

 

But yeah he's also a bg pony and hes not used that often so it could be somepony else in other episodes. Who knows?

Well that one is on purpose, she became a bit taller when she became an alicorn.

It wouldn't be the first time size proportions varies between characters. Celestia has many of those. Sometimes she towers pretty much her subjects, while others she's only a head and a half taller than them. Same with the royal guards, the two in the Philomena episode were notably bigger than a mare, and now they're barely taller than an average stallion. Luna is an example too, during Twi's coronation, she was the same size as Cadance, but during Twilight's Kingdom, Luna was bigger than Cadance

I have noticed a change within a lot of the ponies the main 6 being a good example even the crusaders have grown a tad taller, but with background characters its not surprising that their proportions change due to since they are not always within the show they can get away with things like that, but they should have more episode with background characters I know they already had one, but we need more due to the background characters also make the show its sad not much focus is on them anymore.
