Is this ep a MMDW ver 2.0? I dont care as long as it is good. If this ep is a better version of MMDW, it doesnt matter. The recipe to make it a better version of MMDW: more light-hearted tone, less cringy, no idiot balls, fun and harmless and keep RD's character intact... which is impossible ... but I believe it wont be worse than Applejack day offs...

At least, that's the best idea I could come up with to make this plot work out.

I'm glad someone came up with something like this. It would be nice to have the chief thematic flaw of MMDW dealt with in the way you describe.

The observation that [episode] II seems to be the theme of this season is interesting, although I would actually posit that a lot of these are Mulligans, so to speak, for past episodes that were in some way flawed. For instance, I always felt that Magic Duel utterly failed to capture Trixie's tendency to sabotage her own relationships, for some reason. No Second Prances didn't explicitly deal with that, but it was definitely an aspect of her motivations. Flutter Brutter was It Ain't Easy without the wasted minutes where Fluttershy repeatedly fails to convince the Breezies to leave (hell, her brother's name even has Breeze in it).

Granted, there have certainly been episodes this season that have brought in new problems, too. No season is perfect, I suppose.

Man the reaction to this synopsis throughout the fandom is making me think that DASH is the character with the most overly defensive fanbase.

Oya? Have you ever met the Spike defenders? ;)

Normally I'm usually excited for episodes where Dash has a notable role(FlutterBrutter was a nice surprise), but considering this sounds very similar to the MMDW(AKA one of the most infamous episodes in the show), and coupled with the fact that the writers this season thought the best way to cap off Rainbow's Wonderbolts arc was too have her make an ass of herself and turn her arc into a complete joke, it's hard for me to trust them

It definitely sounds like a sequel to Mysterious Mare Do Well.

However I'm far more surprised that it doesn't seem to involve Pinkie at all.  Something's funny here.

I saw this coming, RD was originally intended to be a serial prankster. I can't wait!

What drive writers to rewatch older seasons and conclude that "YES, I think i will rewrite Mysterious Mare DO Well, but with unwelcomed pranks instead of acting arrogant!"

What next? Spike swearing to serve Fluttershy for the rest of his life and failing at every task?

Neither her or Discord. I would probably expected them to shine in these episodes.

I'm not gonna trash this episode sight unseen, but this sounds less than impressive as a Rainbow Dash episode given recent circumstances, and as an MLP episode overall.

But that's par for the course with Season 6; most episode premises range from safe to out-and-out boring, and I can only hope that the writing or technical presentation can at least bail this one out if it isn't sound in the story department.

Oh I know what's gonna happen! Rainbow's been pranking ponies for too long, so the Mane Six try to teach her a lesson by pranking her back; but not just any prank - the mother of all pranks! Unfortunately, their prank became too effective, causing something bad to happen to Rainbow and changed her dramatically. The Mane Six feel so bad saying it was wrong of them to prank her that hard, and in the end, it turns out Rainbow changing was a prank all along! Then Rainbow says if they wanted her to stop, they could've just said so.

So see? It's not like Mysterious Mare Do Well! Everybody learns a lesson about pranking in the end! Don't push too hard, but also talk your problems out instead of giving someone a taste of their own medicine!

I really don't care either way. I'm only curious about the two more Spike episodes that were promised, and how they will play out; and also whether Babs is doing anything special this season. So you won't be seeing any of this complaining from me unless I'm making a joke! ;)

Wait, what? Two more Spike eps are ahead?

Why i'm still doing this to myself?

A bit cautious of this one. Sounds pretty much like a rehash of "Mysterious Mare Do Well" with pranks instead of Dash's inflated ego. But yeah, i'll give it a chance if only 'cause it kinda fees like a S1 or S2 episode, which will surely make me feel a bit nostalgic remebering the show's earlier days.

  • 2 weeks later...

So something rather small but also very important. Look at this right here:

"Zom-pony style". This gives us a very important bit of info about the name: specifically its NOT just a punny name, its actually related to the plot, in that the prank that the Ponies decide to play on dash is going to be some sort of Zombie prank (or Zom-pony as it were).

I'm thinking this means we'll get some situation of the others trying to gaslight dash into thinking a zombie apocalypse is happening.

Still not looking forward to this episode, but kind of hoping there will be a scene of dash beating the crap out of several "Zombie" impersonators that she mistakes for zombies just for the catharticness of seeing it happen XD (I.E., having them realize how bad of an idea it would be to try and make someone who could beat the crap out of you think that you're a monster that's trying to "get" her after the fact)

Oh wow they somehow managed to make this episode sound worse and even more like MMDW, just replace superhero with Zombies.

Probably the first episode in a while that I'll just outright skip

Mare Do Well isn't that bad imo, but then again I'm from the Lily Peet school of contrarianism.

If you do dislike the episode, make sure it's sincerely of your own prerogative and not because everyone else does. If a community preemptively decides that something is bad, individuals may be discouraged to find something about it they like.

Now this episode's gone from "Dash is being annoying, let's humiliate her again like we did with the Mare-Do Well fiasco!" to "Dash is being annoying, let's scare the horseapples out of her!"

That's a little better, but still plenty of room for this episode to go sour real fast.

After seeing the synopsis to this episode I'm really looking forward to it. I like how the title is a reference to the 28 days and weeks later movies. I also like how the synopsis is almost like an homage to the movies as well. It's also cool to see zombie like ponies will be involved with the episode. I don't want to get my hopes up to be disappointed, but I hope this episode turns out awesome. :)

All we need now is a "Written by Dave Rapp" to complete the lack of enthusiasm XD

After reading that comic someone made called "Twilight Fright" that had Twilight fake a heart attack and die due to a prank by Pinkie and Rainbow, then come back from the dead as a zombie to get revenge on them for it by getting them covered in eggs and toilet paper, before revealing that she was still very much alive, it will be interesting to see how the Mane Six or whoever Twilight rallies together to pay Rainbow back for her pranks do the zombie pony thing in the show itself rather than in a fan-made comic.
