It was just announced a few hours today that EQD is now hosting their own own mlp forums.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this news, as I've always thought of the MLP forums as the place for MLP forums (jeez, I wonder why), and while I've only made an account just recently on this site, I'm still annoyed that now EQD is trying to, I don't know, steal the traffic of this site? The whole thing's just really weird, as it looks like it's only going to further divide the fandom  into subfandoms rather than bring it together as one community. 

 

Anways, as the MLP forum community, I'm wondering what you think about this news.

Interesting I guess for those who frequent EQD.

Me? I'm gonna pass and stick to MLPF. Not a fan of the EQD community to be quite honest.

It was just announced that Equestria Daily has forums!  Man, it's like déja vu over there.  It's like the same exact thing.  (Well, I guess that's what every forum is, really.)  It seems to be booming already, too.  Yeah, that's nice an all, buuuut....it got me thinking: I don't want everypony moving over there!  OUR forums are the place to be!  We gotta show 'em that MLPF are way better!

 

(Just to be clear, I'm half joking, but I do hope that this doesn't decrease the population here.)

 

*EDIT* Oh for the love of friggin' Celestia, someone just posted a topic on this while I was writing this one.  Now I feel bad for cluttering things up.  Mods, just, like merge mine in there or something.

I have mixed feelings as well.  I don't want people leaving our forums to go over there.  THIS is the place to be!  Incidentally, I absolutely love EQD.  I visit there daily.     But I don't really want them competing with these forums.

So, EQD has a forum. So what? Off the top of my head I could name a half dozen forums dedicated to MLP, some older than this one. It's not like the idea is that unique.

They're not trying to steal the traffic of this site. MLP has been way watched by, supposedly, millions of people, whereas these forums only have 35,000 members. The fandom includes many parts of the Internet, and I'd say that most of it doesn't appear to hang out here, but rather, in other places.

My heart is here, I've had roles here ranging from Q&A Staff, Sectional, RP Lore Writer, Admin, and Mod. This is where I began interacting with my fellow fans. I'm a die hard MLPF'er.

 

That said, I joined.

I agree, and what's more is that their community on EqD has been asking for them to create a forum. Good site management listens to their user base. It also looks like they just repurposed an existing forum for official use so it has been there for a year now.

I am on a few other pony message boards, including the new EQD one, but this one will continue to be my #1 place for discussing MLP. This is the only forum that has proven to me that it can stay consistently friendly and active. I don't see the EQD forums as a replacement. They are just a supplement, if that makes sense.

I see no problem with this. I don't think they will steal any noticeable traffic from us. I know I won't bother with it because I am already a member here and I see no reason to make another account for another MLP forum. There are other MLP related forums and I see no harm in one more.

Poniverse is my internet nationality, and MLPF is my home. That will not be changing anytime soon; my heart is with this community.

 

That said I did join EqD Forums as it never hurts to expand your horizons and I like having more than one place to converse on brony things. Still will not replace MLPF for me.

Seriously speaking, I wish the EqD staff the best of luck. Managing online forums isn't easy. Besides, it's all in the name of the same fandom; if they do well, we're all going to benefit as a whole.

I'd give it a shot, MLPForums isn't the only forums I'm active in, but it's still my first and  favourite. I doubt that will change anytime soon. *Knocks on wood*

At least the front page and the layout in general looks cool, but I'm pretty sure I'm still not going to switch sites even though I made an account too.    I'm just too used to this forum!

Since you're on mobile, I think you should press the button in the upper right corner that looks something like this. Meaning that it's the button with three horizontal lines one below the other.
