general Do you like rats?

I was wondering what your opinions on rats were.

Do you like them?  Do you dislike them?  Why do you dis/like rats?

 

I find them very cute.  I've kept pet rats for almost five years now and they're really sweet.

The wild ones can be very destructive and while I would never want them destroying stuff in my home, I can't deny that they're cute.

While I've never kept one as a pet or anything, I do find them pretty cute.  Cute enough that if I find some wild rats roaming in the house, I'll often just catch them and put them outside.  Somewhere that I could see as being a safe space that is as out of the way of people and predators as possible.

I've had 6 pet rats over the years and I love them!  They just don't live very long which is the issue.  It was fun cuddling with them and having them go to sleep next to me.  I also got them to do jumping, one of them could do more then a meter between two couches.  As pets they really are sweet little animals, their reputation in the past just creates a lot of hate for them.

Same as Mr. Whispers,  Pet rats are cute! Especially Lab rats , but I've seen wild ones that come out of the sewers the length of a cat....They are not as cute o-o

 

In terms of cuteness scale though, I don't rank them very high, Mostly because other rodents like Hamsters and Gerbils  out rank them.

I love rats. I currently own 4 male rats and 2 female rats. I originally bought mom and her friend thinking I was going to get just 2 rats but about 3 weeks later mom had 12 babies. So to make a long story short I gave the females to a friend of mine and I'm currently keeping 4 male rats out of the eight males there was.Here is some cute pictures of them down below.

That's understandable.  The pet ones are WAY more genial and the wild ones just want to eat your stuff and live in your house.

Definitely!  Their ancestors didn't get along well with mankind but looking at the replies this topic's getting, rats seem to be doing better.

They are the sweetest and cuddliest things ever, and their bruxing and boggling is super adorkable.

Tbh, albino rats look kinda mysterious so it makes them look very beautiful.  The wild ones can be pretty creepy.

I  couldn't bring myself to smash one alive at home, so I put some traps instead.

The rodent nibbled on the wire to unlock the birdcage and escape.

They're clever creatures.

That's the nice part about them, they only really squeak if perturbed, hurt or in distress.

They are.  Even some of the dumber ones I had managed to do some clever things once and a while (one dumb one managed to escape the travel cage she was in when I took her to our family reunion)

I like rodents as pets. I've never had a rat but I've had many hamsters. I do like rats, though

I like them okay. I guess they're just like bigger mice. They're still soft and fuzzy and warm. As long as they're not disease carriers, I'm good with them.
