Hocus Pocus earned her cutiemark during an... incident... while with her friends, Saddlesong and Tru Bud

They had snuck off to explore a small landmass that Hocus spotted just off the coast of Baltimare. While trotting through the island, the group spotted a small house (although with it's size, "shack" would perhaps be a better term for it) and of course, the they all wanted to check it out. The ground floor consisted of a small number of dusty rooms, the largest of which hosted mostly empty bookshelves carved into the wall which seemed to be abandoned and in disrepair with a spiral staircase leading up to a single-roomed attic, which seemed to have been used as a bedroom at some point in time. The only thing left in the room was a single mirror, with a shining, stylized golden-yellow trim. Curious as to the properties of the mirror, and the contents of a dilapidated spellbook with much of the text worn away found on the bookshelves downstairs, Hocus attempted the best she could to fill in the blanks and cast a spell on the mirror... only to have it reflect back and collide directly with Hocus Pocus herself.

As the resulting amount of smoke cleared, Tru Bud and Saddlesong saw that Hocus Pocus had inadvertently transformed herself into a cat, and they proceeded to panic and bring Hocus back to the city where they could find a Unicorn able to undo the accident. It wasn't long before they found a potion brewer willing to help(... although, he refused the group's pleas not to tell their parents what had transpired.) and who proceeded to restore Hocus Pocus to her true form... but when she had turned back into a pony, something was different... Hocus Pocus now had a cutiemark adorning her flank.

Symbolizing her natural knack for magic, specifically transfiguration, Hocus Pocus had earned her cutiemark displaying a mirror (seemingly imitating that which was found in the attic of the shack) and two clouds of smoke wafting around it.

Depends on which OC you are talking about. Nyx my barn owl griffin has no cutiemark because, ya know. Griffin. Princess Myxilline IX is a changeling so also no cutiemark. Kivil v3 is an earth pony so her cutie mark is a bowler. It is a bowler because not only because I have one, it is because I really really love hats.

As a young colt unicorn I had always loved waiting every year for the day when Cloudsdale flew above my home town which was north of Canterlot.

Most other ponies loved it because it brought along winter and all the winter fun to go with it.

As for me, well, I loved watching the Pegasus soldiers fly in orderly formations around Cloudale. They always looked so ready to protect their home if it was ever in need, and I always wondered how they would if it happened.

Ever since the first time I saw them, I've wanted to be a protector.

I enrolled at a fencing school (fencing is sword fighting) at my home town, and used my magic to hold the sword.

One day, when I was at the school after hours practicing on my own, the school was attacked by a pack of hungry changelings. I bravely stood in their way and defeated them one by one.

My Cutie mark appeared after the fight, and I knew then that I had to go further.

At a later age I moved to Canterlot, and studied war strategy at Canterlot University.

After graduation, I was appointed a general for exceptional marks.

Now I am a proud commander in the Equestria army.

My OC, Rave Darkmane got his cutie mark as he helped escort a foal back to his mother in Manehattan. Rave himself was a foal, but he met a younger one who had gotten separated from his mother as he chased a balloon he saw around the city. By describing to Rave what his surroundings had looked like where he had last seen his mother, Rave was able to recognize the location and bring the foal back to his mother. That is how he earned his map cutie mark.

Knightgem didn't get his cutiemark til very late, it wasn't until he met Luna in one of his own dreams and saw his own friends dreams that things seemed quite different.  Making his own worry about his cutiemark seem quite small to what his friends worried about. Earning his cutiemark in the dream realm, fighting along side Luna in a nightmare to young foal who they themselves worried about excatly what Knightgem had.

Knightgem by choice took on a role as a dream guardian. To watch the night and the realm of dreams along side Luna, protecting that what is precious(the subconsious) and turn to be ,even if it's just a bit, turn to be a small shiney piece of hope for those that have lost it, because he had lost his and now shares that glimmer of hope because of Luna.

Maple got hers when she was older, She had just joined the Night guard and she was trying out some weapons and she tryied the bow and arrow then she got her Cutie mark

There was a war that lasted a couple of years when she was a filly, her parents talents were magic, so they were soldiers. When the enemy attacked her village, her parents were there to help get her onto a cart that led the young ones to safety. She wouldn't see them again, the last thing she remembers is seeing her mum and dad put up a magic barrier to shield them from magic blasts and seeing cracks forming in it before losing all memory of anything that happened then and about an hour afterwards. 

A year later, she discovered she was exceptionally well talented at magic, but unlike other ponies who study and learn magic, her talents were natural. She could cast spells without having to study anything at all, or learn the mathematics or any parts of how the spells function. One day on a field trip with the classmates from her orphanage, a large bear had been seen charging them from out of the woods. It was too early for bears to be waking up, so it probably woke early and was very hungry. In a panic she had stepped forward in the front of the line they were all standing in and instinctively projected a reflection barrier that bounced the bear backwards by using the bears own running force when it collided with her shield, sending it flying away. After receiving much praise from the other orphans in her class and the head of the school that was with them at the time, she off handedly remarked that she remembered hearing that her own parents were defensive magic specialists. On realizing that her parents that she lost a while ago were also specialists in defensive magic, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. To practice magic, defensive magical spells so that she could protect other ponies like what she just did then, and what her parents did for her, but unlike her parents, she was driven, driven to master barrier spells so strong that "NOTHING" will ever break them, that her protection will never break, never falter, and never give way to any force no matter how strong or persistent. She wanted to be the worlds greatest shield master...oh...and flowers....she really loves those too!..and then poof! A 5 pronged star shaped flower appeared on her butt.

Kyoshi's story is a rather bland one, but one I like. He got his cutie mark, which is gaming related, after fully embracing what he enjoys. He has a few different hobbies, but the one above all others is gaming and it took him a while to simply accept that about himself. He doesn't have much in the way of talents of any kind which is why he found it so difficult to get it through his mind that loving gaming is fine enough, you don't need some talent to do that. So then his cutie mark appeared and represents his passion for something he very much loves.

My cutie mark represents the LC symbol. LC are my initials. I got my cutie mark after a sonic rainboom inspired me to make my own video games (long story), and I've created this symbol to make my games more original. When I found out that my special talent is making video games, this cutie mark appeared.
