I'll probably venture outside in hopes to see it when its time for it's arrival. I may even try to snap a picture of it. As this will be the first one I've ever seen. If I do see it, that is..

I hope I get a chance to see it but from the way things are shaping up I'll be stuck indoors at work and unable to view it. I wanted to take some video (at least the effects of it) but I can't even bring a phone or camera into work with me. It's against the rules and strictly enforced. I might have to see it on TV later. :orly:

I might go on a long walk to take in the weirdness of it all. Darkness like that during the day will feel so odd. After that, I will be doing my usual stuff. Gaming, chatting about, but this time, it will be in the dark, in the day.

I have seen one - didn't expect it to happen. I remember when the sun was almost fully covered, the ambient light all around was so freaking eerie! It was dark, but not...

I'm about an hour north of Portland, so I'm trying to convince my family it's worth it to drive down and see totality. Even if I don't, two hours of a partial solar eclipse will be AWESOME! I never expected to get to see one.

I've seen Sun eclipse in August 1999. Of course I've used black plate. I prefer to observe another stars but it was interesting experience too. I haven't seen the newest eclipse.

I'll be visiting with family in Illinois on the 21st, so I'll be in a pretty good viewing area, I'll even get to see it with some family members I haven't seen in a while. ^^ I got myself some solar eclipse viewing glasses to take with me :D

I called that day off work, and I know I should drive to see it in totality... but I find it are to justify driving 4 hours to see 8 minutes of something that will be 80% the same where I live anyway. So, I'll probably just stay home and go outside when it's here.

There's no plan beyond this revelation of the unknown, for only darkness knows the subconscious of ego.

When the self is weak, the soul compensates. Sometimes this causes reality to become unrealistic, too beautiful to be real. It creates dissociation.

This cosmic upheaval might be the strength I need to watch inside of me.

Indeed. We could not state it better.

When exactly is it? The 21st is my first day of classes, so I may be in class depending on when it is.

I'll probably be watching it on a livestream or some shit while I listen to Celtic music. Or horror-themed music. That works too.

  • 1 year later...

I wasn't able to travel to the path of totality, but I was at least able to photograph the partial eclipse (86%) from my house. I used a refractor telescope with a solar filter and dslr.

I plan to catch the next one in 2024. I have an RV this time!  B)

I was in Illinois visiting with family during the eclipse, we were in a great viewing area, the best viewing area was in southern Illinois, we were just a few miles north.....hey, @Cyclone I wasn't very far from where you live! Who knew :P

But yeah, the whole family were at a gathering at my aunt's house to watch it. It was really cool!
