Classic Rock Songs on MLP

Now I've always been a music kind of dude! Music is one of the things that makes the MLP series great, it's all very catchy! Sometimes Daniel gets adventurous with the genres! However most of the songs sound modern-poppy, and I'm not a big fan of that genre. You know what music genre we need on the show? Classic rock! Not like the rock from Rainbow Rocks! That music is catchy, but... not very classic sounding!

I've always loved hearing the unique rock styles of Boston, Styx, Kansas, Genesis, Eddie Money, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi, etc. Don't you wanna hear Rainbow Dash sing in an 80s style rock like Pat Benatar? How about Spike rocking it out as somepony plays an organ solo in the middle? How about some 50s or 60s style rock like Chuck Berry, Little Richard,  the Beach Boys... oooh, I so wanna hear a quartet on the show sounding like the Four Seasons! :D

What do y'all think? Bring some oldies style stuff into the show every so often? This generation needs a taste of some classic rock! Don't believe me? Look up these awesome artists! :D

Yeah rock is a genre that would it much better. But I first I want to see a classical song. :grin:

Twilight in the style of Blondie... Rarity in the style of Stevie Nicks... Applejack could do a CCR-type song... RD would be awesome doing a Runaways kinda thing... Fluttershy would be awesome with a Carol King tune... and Pinkie?  She NEEDS to do a K.C. & The Sunshine Band number!

(Discord doing an Aerosmith style song!)

At the end of the day it is still a My Little Pony cartoon, and I don't really see a cartoon meant to sell toys to little girls featuring rock songs in it.

It doesn't has to be hard rock or something that. Like carry on wayward son songs can work in a cartoon. :orly:

Though I like various kinds of music, rock is probably my favorite genre. I definitely support rock in MLP!

The Cutie Mark Crusaders song from "The Show Stoppers" is basically 80s rock and that's my favorite song in MLP. I know a lot of people think it sounds awful but I love it.

Believe it or not, I also like Scootaloo's vocals. Only a couple of parts sound bad to me, the scream at the end being the most obvious one. The vocals are really off-key, but the raw quality appeals to me (a bit like punk where the attitude is what matters the most). Then again, I have quite an eccentric music taste...

The show needs a full metal ballad, The CMC theme doesn't count. Always love when there is a few bars of rock instrumentation in the BGM though, and good portion of the songs are pop rock.

Two things ... I know I'm getting old when music from my childhood is getting lumped in with the Beach Boys and called oldies.

Secondly, I'm on board with Ingram doing a few songs in some classic rock styles. @Randimaxis mentioned CCR ... yes please. We know that Ingram loves to take inspiration from a lot of styles, and I would be all for it. 

CCR, Beatles White Album, Hendrix, Joplin, Queen, Zepplin ... and since they have been on my mind lately because of their guitarist's health ... Lynyrd Skynyrd! Can you imagine a Freebird inspired song featuring Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo?

Well, you know, 'Babs Seed' by the CMC's is pretty much a Weezer song...that good ole 50's rock fusion.

Rainbow Dash - hmm, I don't know, All I see is Panama by Van Halen when she's at her best.

Just like I adore vocals, I adore electric guitar solos. Just like I adore harmonies, I adore rhythm and bass. 

It's like saying I would be fine with just Hendrix in my music collection. God tier guitarist no doubt, but these ears need variety in my Rock.
