Sunburst's design in the patches of white on his hooves and face isn't seen much on other ponies.

That's a good thing though, it seperates him from any other character and it shows that he's a minor character rather than just a background character.

Maybe. But I still want to see more ponies with different patterns in general. Not just small patches of color, but whole blankets, spots, and whatever else you get with horses in nature.

These would make outstanding designs on the mare and stallion bodies they're currently using.

Black-We haven't seen many black ponies and that color started in Gen 3.

Examples;

Black and Blue Art Pop Pony

Comic Con Ninja

Nightmare Moon

Brown-There aren't a lot of brown ponies. It technically started with  My Pretty Pony, but didn't show up under the MLP flag till G4.

Examples:

My Pretty Pony

Trouble Shoes

Red-Its such a nice color and it's a shame they don't use it more. First red ponies were in Gen 3.

Examples:

Comic Con Superhero

G3 Applejack

Big Macintosh

Apple Cinnamon

Gray-You can actually do a lot with gray in terms of color combos, so it's a shame there's only ever been a handful. Started in Gen 1.

Examples:

Snuzzle

Velvet Bow

Maude Pie

Octavia

Derpy

Beige/Dun/Buckskin- Started in Gen 4. I'm not a big fan of beige or buckskin horses. But the dun with the frosted hair looks so nice.

Examples:

Golden Delicious

Daring Do

Songbird Serenade

Pinto-There's only one. Cute lil guy.

There are plenty of green, yellow and orange ponies.

Colorwise, I'd agree that patterns like those seen on Sunburst are strangely rare, especially for a show detailing colored ponies! I'd expect to see more spots, socks, and markings, but I can't say that I'm disappointed in the ponies we've seen so far. The writers did a good job of differentiating them based on mane styles and colors, I think, although I had a friend get confused regarding telling Twilight Sparkle/Starlight Glimmer apart (hilarious for me, at least). I did like seeing some darker shades of colors recently though, like Burnt Oak.

Like  others said, theres not much green nor brown. All green ponies are mostly aquamarine-ish and the brown ponies are light brown. Pattern-wise, I don't think we had a pony with nose freckles yet. We have Applejack and Big Mac, but their freckles are cheeck ones, not nose ones.

We also don't have real equine patterns yet, like the dotted ones and the "blanket" ones. Theres Princess Luna for the second one, but hers is weird since sometimes its part of  her mark, sometimes not.

I would definitely like to see designs like that. It makes them even more unique.
