Is This Really Banned In South Korea?

So, I was on IMDB and looking at the upcoming film's content advisory page and under what the film has been classified in each country it says it's banned in South Korea :o Is there any truth to this? Why the hell would that be the case?!

Maybe they meant North Korea, I don't see the South banning anything even close to that. They wouldn't have any reason to, unless magical ponies goes against the will of the people. :| North Korea makes more sense to me because friendship isn't exactly encouraged there. Unless it is Kim Jong Un is Magic.

Also amusing is that the Soundtrack features CL, a popular South Korean recording artist. :P

I am doubtful it is banned, but I haven't been able to find anything concrete either way. I'm going with the assumption it isn't banned.

Even I don't get it myself. South Korea usually only bans terrestrial broadcasts of Japanese television or music nowadays, as any show that has Japanese elements is immediately not allowed for airing in the country due to strained Japan-Korea relations.

But I guess they just went too far with this movie.

No they didn't because the movie isn't actually banned there. Sure, it didn't get a theatrical release there but as people have explained to you countless times that isn't the same as it being banned.

Seems more like something North Korea would ban, considering they ban every cartoon that's not this

LOL!! OMG, I remember looking that show up. The Wolves (the Americans) are grizzled bad@$$es that fly around in a giant eagle shaped airship. It’s amazing. I have never been more flattered by a piece of propaganda in my life. X’D

That may be so, but my guts still tell me that the movie is indeed banned there until further notice.

You see, when I was a kid I grew up watching Japanese media from the late 80s and all 90s, until my family moved to America when I was a little older. Then when I started surfing on the internet regularly, I was shocked to find out that one country on earth once banned a majority of everything I've seen as a kid -- none other than South Korea. It was since then when I started studying that country's media guidelines under their laws. And as far as I know by today's standards, if the KMRB fails or refuses to give a rating to a movie or video game (in the case of Danganronpa: Killing Harmony), that piece of media will immediately be pronounced banned in South Korea, though I think this only applies to unreleased movies and games. But unlike the KMRB, Eirin has no legal power to ban any movie, and seeing as though they've banned a lot less than Korea has, I know it isn't banned there, unlike in that other country.

I hope this information was good enough because it was the best I could find.
