your opinion on thriftshopping

Sometimes I go to buy clothes but also to see if they happen to have anything particularly interesting to me. It is mundane about 90% of the time, but I have purchased an iMac G3, Commodore 1541, and NES from going to these stores.

I collect 80s and 90s toys so I love going to scour thrift stores. Goodwill and Salvation Army are the worst for any good finds, and I rarely bother checking their vinyls cuz they're usually unplayable. Savers, on the other hand, has given me some good finds, like a $4 Tamagotchi that I quickly sold for  $25. I went to one hospice charity thrift store thathad a shelf of cheap collectibles! A furby, neopet, and a few others. I got a 1988 (?) TMNT lunchbox for  $2!

I like to buy some of my clothes at thrift shops. The stuff on the racks at mainstream stores are limited in their style and imagination, so I go to where I can select from a wider range of styles. If I need a big ticket item I like to check the thrift stores first before resorting to paying full retail.

Thrift shopping is my favorite shopping. I love old things and the items are cheaper. My favorite thrift shop items are glass figurines and decorations, like my 3 glass ducks (one is tiny compared to the other two, being bought on a separate occasion), and my giant, piggy bank elephant. I also love to find obscure books that I would have never found otherwise, and I'm glad I do because I enjoy the stories, like Goose Chase by Patrice Kindl. Board games are fun and nice to get as well.

I'm down for thrifting 100%. Why buy overpriced clothes off the rack when I can get brand name stuf secondhand for cheap? (not that I'm into brand names) If I can get a piece of clothing for under $5, you bet your bottom, I'm going to take advantage of that. Also- cheap ponies. I got a Build a Bear plush RD for a dollar and 10 cents!!!! Those things go upwards of $30, brand new!

You're right with Goodwill and Salvation Army being horrendous for good finds. I wish there was a Savers closer t where I live, but its a bit of a drive. Fortunately, there's a place called th Community Thrift at only half the distance, so I like going there for retro stuff. I've found a lot of g1 and g3 ponies there on several occasions.

My mother loves thrift shopping, and gets me all sorts of clothes for cheap. I sometimes get silverware and CDs from them too. Once I get my own apartment, I might even buy an upright piano from one.

The only trouble with them is that the stores are a bit stuffy.

It's alright, I guess. I'm not a fan of it. Occasionally, you can find something interesting, but more than likely it'll be overused. I found some Stephen King novels that way, but never purchased them because of how used they were.

Also, I can't help but feel like I might be putting on some dead person's clothes. I've heard many scary stories about that kind of thing.

That really depends on the store and time of year sometimes honestly. For every cool interesting thing there there's dozens of old generic kinda shirts, pants, or skirts and the like.

But I do really like going to thrift stores, saves me a lot of money on things I need, so I can save for things I want.
