gaming What console should I get?

Okay guys so here's the deal.

I am thinking about getting a new console and there are two consoles in particular, The Xbox One and the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Now I know what you're thinking? Why the Nintendo Entertainment System? Well that's because there are so many great games for it like Super Mario Bros 1, 2j, 2 and 3, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Castlevania 1-3, Ducktales 1 and 2, Darkwing Duck, Mega Man 1-6, Metal Storm, Sweet Home, Batman, Adventure Island, Blades of Steel, Kid Icarus, Battle Toads, Contra. Just so many great games for it, more than I can list and it's a console that, to me, is really worth getting. Plus, there are more games being made for it, like Swords n Runes, Battle Kid the Fortress of Peril, Haunted Halloween 86, Mad Wizard, Rise of Amondus and not to mention all the Rom Hack carts out there like My Little Pony: Dr, Discord's Conquest, Metroid Rogue Dawn, Castlevania Blood Moon, Simon's Quest Redux, The Legend of Zelda Ganon's Revenge. Etc. Just so many reasons to get a NES.

Then we have the Xbox One, the most powerful game console in existence and it also has quite a few gems itself like Halo the Masterchief Collection, Gears of War 4, Super Lucky's Tale, Player Unknown Battlegrounds, Cuphead, Stranger of Sword City, Forza Motorsport, Titanfall and of course Halo 5. I don't know, they both sound good, Which should I get guys?

Only if you're talking about the X version. The regular one is weaker than the standard PS4.

Yeah... the trouble with going retro is that a fair number of used game sellers are greedy jerks. Popular games like megaman and zelda, expect to see them sell at pretty much modern retail price. For Duck Tales 2 in particular, have fun dropping over $200 for it used. None of that money going back to the original developers, of course. Just to someone who squatted on that game for years.

Even as a Nintendo guy, I'd suggest going with the Xbox. While it's true that there are some gems on the NES, a fair number of those popular games are seeing spiritual successors on modern consoles and PC. If you need to scratch that classic itch, play some good indie titles. Plus, the xbox is going to almost certainly see even more gems in the future because that's (logically) where the bulk of game developers are currently deploying to. Along with the PS4, Switch, and of course PC.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the NES classic edition which it contains some games. If you're a Nintendo player, then get the NES classic edition although if you have 2/3DS and/or wii-u, some of those games are on virtual console. Another console you can get is SNES classic edition which it contains some SNES games including unreleased game, star fox 2.

I'd go with an Xbox. While the NES does have some good games, it does have a lot of shovelware. The Xbox has a ton of great games. Plus a lot of the games you can buy on the virtual console on the Wii U, Wii, and Switch. Even as a game collector myself, your probably better off getting older games digitally nowadays. Even the Mega Man games on NES have already been ported to the Xbox, and other systems. Trust me your wallet will thank you later.

I'd go Xbox One, mainly for Forza. the XBOX One does have some great games and graphics from what I've seen of it.

You can get those games on a phone/tablet from Nintendo - a lot of it's free. Cast that shit too, yo! The Xbox One is the better pick tbh.

NES vs X Box 1?

If you want to keep your gaming experience in absolute authenticity (aka being a purist) then I’d go for the NES if you really like 1980s-1990s Nintendo Hard Games and The Golden Era of RPGs. Otherwise just emulate them or get a Portable Handheld like the 3DS to play NES games via Nintendo eShop and go straight for the Xbox 1.

If you go for the otherwise option, then you kinda get the best of both worlds here. A portable handheld or an emulator that can play the NES games you desire plus having an Xbox 1 to play many more games. Win-win.

The only downside is you lose the pure authenticity of what its like playing NES games the way how kids from the 1980s played with a controller on your hand and flinging it out of pure frustration when playing Nintendo Hard Games like Ninja Gaiden 1-3 (NES) and Castlevania 1-3 (NES).

The Xbox One has great Exclusives like Forz- oh that released on PC... Well how about Gears of W- oh... that also released on PC... Well what about the upcoming Sea of Th-... Oh right, PC... Well at least it's 4k right?

Honestly there currently is no reason to get an Xbox One when you can get all its games on a PC or other platforms. The Xbox One currently only has 17 true Exclusives... And half of them are for the Kinnect. Meanwhile 22 and more on the way. (remasters and ports were not included in any of these lists as those games can be acquired on other platforms, nor were timed exclusives.)

Point is when you buy an Xbox One, you're buying a console that you can play all those games elsewhere in better graphics with more freedom. There is no real benefit to it, there is nothing the Xbox One X even can do that a gaming PC could not do better except play those 17 exclusives, half of which are kinnect games that no one will want.

How many of those NES games can you get on the Nintendo virtual store or whatever it's called? You can get a retro clone cheap, and buy game cartridges that have hundreds of games on them.

Then you can afford both consoles.

I think one thing should influence your decision on whether you should buy an Xbox One X and that’s your TV. If you have a 4K TV, I say go for it. It’s the best way to experience games on console.

Xbox One is a crap console with no real exclusives and all it's third party games can be played on PS4 with multiple exclusives.
NES.

You're probably better off emulating the NES games on PC than going out of your way buying an NES. Unless you really want the nostalgia out of it, then go for it.

Must say I am enjoying the heck outta Odyssey; other side of the coin, cheapest way to get a SNES up and running is "retropi" on the pi (say, $30 or so for a pi) and a couple of retro snes usb controllers for $4 each...
