I have another one that I just have to post:

It's just so fun to mention because it's a band that sounds a lot like The Doors, but it's from 1980 and has some people that would be a part of the band A-Ha that is famous for that cheesy Take on Me hit from the 80s. Clearly there was more to them than meets the eye.

It's like the difference between Chicago in their first two albums and the Chicago of the mid 80s that made cheese like "You're The Inspiration", but here's the thing... Chicago had well over a decade to transition to that... These guys did that in just a few years. o.o

It’s from 1918, so pretty likely...

Katy is my actual name, and my grandpa used to sing this to me. :coco:

I'm a Katie too, and my grandpa did the same! That's so funny! I know this song QUITE well!!

I think pretty much anything pre-1940s would probably qualify here. I recognize more of the songs that predate the rock and roll era. The modern stuff is more foreign to these ears. So anyway, here’s something from Eddie Cantor, “Okay Toots” (1933). (I had some other stuff from him, but it would probably cause a panic among the modern crowd!

I've heard that one before, although I'm more familiar with another one of their songs, Pistol Packin'. I'd post it, but it's very explicit in its lyrics. It is on Youtube (and the only place I know of to find it) Also, every time I listen to that song and enjoy it, I'm afraid that if there were a Hell I'd certainly be going there for enjoying it. lol >.<

Anyone up for avant-garde Delta blues?

Come on. Who doesn't know Trout Mask Replica. It's Captain Beefheart's sell out album, and I don't like it because it's too radio friendly.

You shouldn't have heard about this one, but you will know about it for the rest of your life. It's amazing:

This is good.

I'm back with some more. This time I'll just post a bunch and hopefully I won't feel the need to post anymore. lol

One of the earliest examples of the Philly Soul style. Sad, Sad Story - The Ethics

That's The Way It's Gotta Be - Soul Generation

Moving to a more Funky sound, Lost Romeo by Isis

Bringing a somewhat bizarre Baroque Pop, Time To Wander - John Kerruish

TBH, I don't know how to classify this one... Granvisa by Modern Music Band

Now onto Folk, The Skater by Midwinter

One for the classical fans. Here's a piece from a short-lived female composer who composed in a similar style to Debussy and Ravel - 2 Pieces for Violin and Piano: 1 Nocturne (arr. for Flute and Harp) by Lili Boulanger

And because this is me... I have to post some of my old favorite genre, Brass Rock (aka the style that Chicago was known for in the late 60s/early 70s). I've done quite a deep dive into the genre.

Spoiler

Gotta Find a Way - Myrth

Dreams of Glass and Sand - Mogul Thrash

Trying maybe a little too hard to capitalize on the success of Chicago's Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is? (but it still is fun), How I Feel by 4th Cekcion

No Opportunity Needed - Aura

Try Me - Dreams

A Time A Place - Brainchild

If there's any song on here that I think people might have heard before this might be it. I found this band pretty quickly after I got interested in Chicago and BS&T:

The Promised Land - If
