I already have a Netflix subscription so this is great news for me! I don't have to pay any extra to go see it in some theater :D I can stay in my room and watch it surrounded by all my ponies :P

I have a Netflix subscription, so this isn't a big deal. But Hasbro and Paramount did the right thing not airing this film in theaters because of safety alone. Theaters have terrible air circulation. Theater-going isn't an essential activity. Going to the theaters right now as this deadly disease is currently mutating and there's no peer-reviewed study if the vaccine is effective against the South African variant is just way too risky; AstraZeneca already halted theirs for that reason. For a lot of people (including myself), it's not worth the gamble.

So it's official now that the movie isn't going to be in theaters, which is a bit disappointing to me since I don't have a Netflix subscription lol

Thoughts on this? Anyone else miss seeing movies on the big screen?

Definitely. I like the theater experience. Seeing movies is pretty much the only time I leave the house voluntarily. Now people don't even seem to care about the quality of what they're watching, just watching everything on a phone.

I have Netflix so it doesn’t bother me.

Same.

But it's a shame that we might not get a theatrical release tho :sunny:

Oh well. Not sure if G5 will hook me like FIM did, so it’s pretty convenient it’ll be on Netflix instead of theaters. I did watch the FIM movie in theaters four times, including the premiere night :mlp_icwudt:.... dressed at my sharpest :mlp_yeehaa:

According to the Entertainment Tonight article, the new G5 series will be exclusive to Netflix

My Little Pony is coming to Netflix.

The newest CG-animated movie from Entertainment One (eOne), Hasbro's entertainment studio, will drop on the streaming service this fall, ET can exclusively reveal.

The studio has also greenlit a new animated series for Netflix, which will take place after the upcoming movie and will focus on Sunny Starscout and her friends.

In the new movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic. Friendship and Harmony have been replaced by paranoia and mistrust, and Ponies now live separated by species. Sunny — a feisty and idealistic young Earth Pony — is convinced there’s still hope for this divided world, but her slightly misguided and often hilarious efforts to change hearts and minds have led to her being branded a misfit. When Sunny befriends a lost Unicorn named Izzy, who wanders innocently into the Earth Pony town of Maretime Bay, the town has had enough. Izzy and Sunny must embark on an epic adventure that will include a daring jewel heist, outrageous conspiracy theories, elaborate musical numbers, and the world’s cutest flying Pomeranian. Their adventures will take them to faraway lands and force them to challenge the status quo by facing their fears and making new friends out of old enemies. The world Sunny has dreamed of her entire life could finally become a reality as Sunny and her newfound friends fight to prove that even little ponies can make a big difference.

Animated by Hasbro’s Boulder Studio in Dublin, the new feature marks the first time the Ponies will be seen in CG animation.

The movie is directed by Rob Cullen and Jose Ucha with Mark Fattibene as co-director. Cecil Kramer and Peter Lewis are producers.

Well this is a little disappointing. Definately not worth getting a Netflix subscription just to watch the movie...

I'm just sayin' here, but being on Netflix will make it much easier to acquire by dastardly  means.

(I'm happy with this)

yeah, and will probably be required for americans, since the US Netflix has absolute fuck all on it now lol

I still wonder why Season 9 of the main FiM show is on Hulu and not Netflix like the rest of the series. I still rewatch shows like Carmen Sandiego and Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events

Seeing movies on the big screen is very romantic.

Question is how much longer will it be like that?
Most non-huge theathers are closed (Kinepolis is a big chain, charging twice the price to enter, twice the price for drinks and food when compared to a local theather AND they dare to charge to go to the toilet, heck you charge so much to get us in, now you charge me for the toilet, how greedy can you get?)

So it has been a long while since I have been in a Theather, they have been closed for a year now on goverment demand over here.

As for this movie itself, I do not have netflix but I shall see this movie. I know many people who have it, and watching something together is always more fun.

Agreed. I miss the social side of going to theatres. Haven't gone in years.

Seeing it in theatres is a different (and more grand) experience, but Netflix is the better choice I believe. It'll attract more fans, be available to more children and their families, and it'll allow me to rewatch it again and again to form a more comprehensive opinion.
