What do you love about MLP and its fandom?

I love My Little Pony and I love the ponies and the plot of the TV show. I love Rainbow Dash and how Pinkie Pie is so random!

The characters are so inspiring and It is just awesome!

I love it because of just all the happiness and true friendship in it. The undying loyalty between the Mane 6 just kind of restores my own motivation and drive. All their trials they go through together is something to really fall back on a bad day for comfort or a good day for a grin.

 

Plus, Rainbow has motivated me to do just a bit better in everything I do so that also causes a spark in me to continue to strive and push for what I do. Sounds silly when I say it out loud I think, but I just love the feeling.

I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic because it has so many unique characters, and plus the artwork is very neat! The storyline is very addicting too, you always want to know what happens next!

The characters are unique and interesting. The voices are pretty much completely in sync with how the character is portrayed and written. The animation is fluid and smooth. The art is charming, colorful, and vibrant. The music is in a class of its own, bringing the world to life.

 

Honestly, these are the points I name when people ask me why I like the show. It's genuine in it's simplicity. It's a show that understands what it is and isn't afraid to be silly. Humor is done extremely well with perfect balances of over-the-top absurdity (see: Pinkie Pie antics) and subtlely clever (see: pretty much everything else ).

 

Despite being in a magical land of talking equines, this show does capture a realistic feel to it with its characters as they face challenges that are relatable to many people. I don't care how many people mock the show. Those friendship reports contain lessons that I feel today's society has either never learned in the first place or forgotten entirely.

I like MLP FIM because it makes me happy. It's that one thing I can turn to when I'm feeling depressed, rather than the hundreds of other people that turn to drugs and alcohol when they feel depressed. Who needs drugs when you have ponies.

It has a decent gripping story plot unlike most of the cartoons seen on Cartoon Network. I like FIM because it teaches morals which is sorely lacking in many of the cartoons. There are lessons to learn in every episode and this is what I grew up with.

I've always loved cartoons; I love animation, voice actors and soundtrack music. I don't see why people think a show or movie needs tons of violence, sexual content, drugs/alcohol etc to be "good", so I love it when I come across something that's well made without needing all that stuff piled on. Initially, it was because I had the impression that its overarching framework (that is, Twilight learning how to get along with other ponies) would imply that eventually, the morals would build on each other. This was the aspect that drew me in initially, and I'm sort of disappointed that Twilight hasn't come up with any truly coherent "Theory of Friendship" that can tie all of the morals together. Maybe later that will happen...

 

Of course, the characters are quite intriguing-- I immediately identified with Twilight, I admire Rarity, and am amused by Pinkie Pie. To be honest it's not the funniest show, nor the most intelligent, nor the most thought-provoking show I've seen, but it's got an underlying seriousness about it that I admire. It makes rather ordinary situations very whimsical and every element seems to be logically important for a full understanding of the show. It's got, in short, drive-- many recent shows seem to be a series of vignettes that to me appear pointless in the end, while MLP:FiM will take one idea and sustain it and have a bit of fun with it.

 

That, and the artwork has a nearly iconic quality about. I somehow think that if MLP:FiM were on a more mainstream network, it would actually gain a lot more respect, if just for that quality alone.

I was at first turned on to MLP, not by the show but by the metaculture created around FiM by the fandom, then once I actually watched the show I was hooked.

 

The show came to me at a very dark time in life and it gave me reason to smile and be happy just because. It was a nice feeling.

I started watching MLP FIM because i knew it had a big adult fan-base, when i went to watch the first episodes i thought i would hate it and i thought i would have the same opinion of it before i watched it after i watched it, but i instantly fell in love with the show, dont know why but it's just awesome, i simply can't explain what i love most about it.

I like it because its a show that doesnt need bad words to be funny and doesnt have to have to have all the main chracters be oboxioius or making us laugh at how dumb they are.... even pinkie pie has a brain it just diffrent then everyone elses while other shows try to make us laugh at the chracters acting stupid instead of feeling sorry for them I also like how we can realte to atleast one character and its well diffrent even with the refrences its still diffrent.Also its not crudely animated like some shows it seems like there trying to be so advanced in dijital animation that they dont realize that some chracters look off and that theres no lines ect. emotions are also really expressd well

I like it for alot of reasons. First off its literally the only kids show I've ever seen(Atleast targeted to be kids originally..) That doesn't act like its audience is stupid or something.

Besides that I love the concept that they have of ponys and I find it funny and interesting how they put things in the real world into a pony perspective.

 

I also love the animation's its really smooth and the different expressions and things they do are very good compared to many cartoons.

 

Not to mention it totally destroys any of the cartoons these days in my opinion. I'm 15 but I really think cartoons have taken a big turn for the worse.

 

I also love the voice acting so much! The songs are very very catchy i've listened to them tons and tons of times. And the humor is very enjoyable. Aswell as the fact that they can be soooo cute . And the story is actually quite interesting.

 

 

Serious whats NOT to like about it? I mean i'll admit I sometimes wish there where things they could do outside of their rating limit, but at the same time I feel like it makes up part of the show. It amazes me what they can do without throwing together a montage of curses and bloody murder. (I don't have anything against other shows and movies that aren't kids shows or something. But I feel like they can start to be very uncreative sometimes with the things they do.)

 

It also reminds me of cartoons I use to watch. Not like I'm really that old because back when I was young the stuff that was on was like Danny phantom, The good episodes of spongebob, Code lyoko, The good episodes of fairly odd parents and stuff.(Theres other stuff I just forget their names ) Again I'm not very old so don't take it like I'm trying to act like those are cartoon glory days.

 

Phew anyways enough rambling I love MLP for many many reasons as you can see by my crazy rambling. But seriously whats not to love!!! I just fall in love with each and every one of them for so many reasons.

The Animation is definitely a stand out in terms of body language and facial expressions. The humor is also, in most cases, a lot more witty than others in it's class. Plus the diversity of each character is also very remarkable.

I love/like it cause of the subtle but beautifull animation style... I love it cause it's an anime (in my opinion and don't go in2 discussions about what anime is, I know the definition of anime and what makes an anime an anime... but I C mlp: fim as an anime with it's own sub division in animator... and that division is: animal) I love the randomness of the show and the fact that it's not about humans at all... I myself enjoy the show because they have characters that stick to who they are. Each character is one that someone out there can relate to. Even if that character might just be a background pony. I also enjoy the fact that it can be watched by both genders, it's not just specified for one. I also enjoy the way they have things play out. Events unfold plots develop, but no matter what you will learn something that can benefit you in some way shape or form. For that the show has earned this emote.

After so much web searching I found a response that gave me chills when I read it and strangely a sense of closure:

 

Anyway, I recently discovered how much I love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which was a surprise to me....

 

And I couldn’t figure out WHY I love it.

 

I’m not alone in this, either. Why have tens of thousands (at least) of my generation suddenly fallen in love with ponies?

Maybe it’s the brilliant writing, excellent characters and strong plots? But there are plenty of things with all those qualities, yet they don’t achieve the sincere and vocal love lavished upon Twilight Sparkle and the gang. Maybe it’s the irony or transgression factor involved in watching a cartoon so clearly not aimed at us?...

 

 

Then it hit me: the reason My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic speaks to my generation is because it’s about us.

Let me explain. Unlike a lot of kids TV, the central characters of MLP:FiM (or the “Mane 6″) are not children. There are child characters (or “fillies”), and they have a few episodes dedicated to them, but they’re not the focus. No, the focus is on six young adult ponies fundamentally trying to find their place in the world and, often, to come to terms with balancing their own childish desires with the need to be mature and responsible. This links directly to us, but unlike most shows dealing with such themes, it has no need to adhere to “realism” and can thus ensure a happy ending. Not only that, but the core message about friendship rings just as true with us as it does with any child, maybe more so.

I just want to see why people think My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic is so good.

 

 

I like MLP: FiM because not only has it got good humor, good artwork and likeable characters, but compared to some of the stupid cartoons us kids get nowdays (I'm 11) MLP stands out like a piece of chocolate in waves of moldy fruit.

I like MLP for the same exact reasons you do. I love how the show is kid appropriate, yet doesn't act like their main demographic is stupid or needs to be protected from the real world (well except for the whole Derpy incident, but Hasbro was under a lot of pressure). Also, I love the songs, there are some real masterpieces, I even found a song (This Day Aria) that rivals songs from Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (which I thought was impossible). And almost all of the characters are extremely likable and relatable.

Well let me see. I'm a 16 year old male teen who has nothing better to do over the summer than play video games, listen to music, and be told by people with depressing lives how depressing their lives are and how I can't help them even though they talk to me about it all.

 

I think I might just try out this show.

 

Makes me feel good when people are dragging me down with their problems. Also, the art, characters, and whole humor of it all is just so AWESOME.

I like it because its so different from all of the dying cartoons that are on T.V now. Most shows had a good 1st season and then lost its humor and interest in characters. But that didn't happen with My Little Pony. The animation is fantastic, the music is awesome, and the characters are fun to watch and are not simply in the background and only in the episode when they need to.

Plus the show doesn't need to be dirty or inappropriate for it to be funny and enjoyable. I laugh while watching My Little Pony more then any of those shows on Comedy Central. Its a show that makes you smile and laugh no matter how depressed you are or what your going through.
