Do you have a person, or several people, who you think of as a nemesis or enemy?

 

I have one. We are very much similar, yet at the same time very different. We both are good at manipulating people for our own gain, but whereas he uses it to convince people of his greatness, I try to use it to help. We fight over and over again in everything. We're rivals 'til the end.

 

The said, he's better at a lot of things.

My brother and I are POLAR opposites. I like RPG games, he hates them. I like rock and metal, he hates them and likes rap and hip-hop which I hate. He wrestles which I hate and I play basketball which he hates. He's a stuck up, "I'm better than you" kind of person and I hate that about him. Oh and he thinks I'm gay for being a brony. The only thing we both like is Football and even within that there's division. He plays Linebacker while I play Lineman and he (for no apparent reason) hates the line.

 

I will destroy him.

And apparently, Storm Spark is my nemesis. Not sure what he was thinking when he decided to go up against me, but whatever

 

 

On topic:

A co-worker, Roberto. Guy acts like he's my manager when I've been at the store longer than him, know how to do more stuff than him, and have never been $50 short at end of day closing (and he totally has). Only thing he can do that I can't is open the back, and that's only because he can cook faster than I can. Constantly points out how he's better at X than me, where X is any random activity that he may or may not actually be better than me at. Asks tons of condescending questions instead of just telling me something (instead of saying "Hey, if you do it this way, you probably won't spill so much" he says something like "Hey, why do you think you spill more than me?"). Even when he's giving helpful advice, he's really condescending about it.

Also, I don't have proof of this, but he seems to plan out when he does things and takes his breaks and stuff in a way that forces me to stay later than my shift. When he's not working the same day as I am, I generally get off within 30 minutes of my shift ending, which is normal. When I work with Roberto? I'm lucky to get off an hour after my shift ends. It's usually closer to 1.5-2 hours.

Back in middle school i had a rival in band. Once high school came around that rivalry pretty much ceased to exist.

 

Probably the one I should really mention is... In high school, being the drama queen I was, I constructed an enemy out of somebody that wasn't really one quite as much. She may have found me annoying (but honestly, looking back at myself back then, who couldn't have?), but I blew it up into something much more.

 

Here comes another one of my tl;dr's (and if nobody reads it, that's fine because it's embarrassing lol):

 

In some sort of funny twisted way, she is a big reason that I play the bassoon. I want to deny it, but I can't. Not because I hold any resentment toward her today, I really don't. It's that it was an odd combination of both being envious of a lot of aspects of her and having a crush on her caused me to want to play the bassoon more than I normally would have (and to be fair, I likely wouldn't have ever known what a bassoon was if it weren't for her).

 

The blown-out-of-proportion resentment came after I had really come to admire her for playing the bassoon. I thought she was so cool. But then eventually I came to learn that she hated playing it. What got me, beyond the whole "she is so cool!" image I had built up, was that she was very good at playing the instrument. Yet she hated it, and never practiced it. This shot a bullet into my self-esteem. She could easily throw together an audition and get into the highest ensemble, while I could practice a lot and not. Oh, and when I didn't yet have a bassoon to play, I was all like "How dare she has one when she hates playing it. I would love playing it. Give it to me!". So yes, this is all probably the exact reason I came to using my current username as well.

 

I wish I was exaggerating it even slightly... but I'm not. After that mess I have tried not to make anybody else out to be enemies. Although without what happened above, I probably would have lost interest in band and playing music, because the bassoon turned out to be the right one for me. And with that I wouldn't have any goals for my life right now... and... Well, I'm not going to go any further than that. It gets even stranger the more I think about it.
