Parent & Friend Reactions to your Bronyness: Before & After

I havn't told my parents that I watch Mlp:fim but i have told my mom about the brony community I also showed her a Drawing I made of Bon Bon, She giggled shortly, but stopped when she realized I was serious about it, and that I had put effort into the drawing. She then said that she just thought it a little funny that i would draw my little pony stuff.

I don't really know about telling my dad, I'm kinda clueless on how he would react, but i've always been just the tiniest bit weird so i don't think any of them would react with a negative response. One thing i'm really sad about though is that i told my mom about the brony-community about two weeks before i became a brony and was kind of making fun of it. (It actually hurts to think about that and i'm sorry)

I don't think I will tell my brothers about it anytime soon, since they have made fun about My little pony (Unrelated to the series though). Most of the people i consider friends know about me being a brony and i am quite open about it at school. I stopped bothering about what classmates think about me three years ago.

I think I've already replied, but.

Mom = okay with it (made 1 joke)

Dad = okay with it (made 1 joke)

bro + older bro = makes fun of me (I beat up my bro for talking smack ;) )

sister = brony

i have not really told my parents about anything but i am sure that they'll have different responses my mom will probably don't mind at all but my dad... i do not dare think about it

i saw what happened to my cousin... when she told him that she was gay and she was getting married he took mental fit and that was at Christmas

whenever something is not way he wants it he'll make it so

so i don't know if is a good idea too tell him

but my older sister seems to like it... lol

told them today...gotta love being part of a anime family, all the way from My Neighbor Totoro and kiki's delivery service they(including me) are fans of it all, so telling them i like the show created by the person from the Powerpuff girls ( wich then i recalled all the violence and disturbing images from the show to put some manlinessinto the equation) they were cool about it. /sigh of relief. hope it goes well with everyone els :D

got a prob? I can fix it!

Meh. They don't know about it, but I'll tell them eventually. Since they don't really care about minor stuff like TV shows and music, I doubt they'll really do anything about it.

mine don't know yet planing to tell my mum when I see her tomorrow though and I have an idea of what I'm going to say so it should be fine. as for my dad I don't plan on telling him just yet because he doesn't know what an internet phenomenon is so it would be kind of hard to explain. I think he has some suspicions though because he has seen some of my icons/avatars/pics/vids on various things now but he hasn't said anything apart from making a slight hint in a conversation today

"so what do you do when you talk to your friends on the computer anyway?"

"ummm... play games and stuff"

"what games?"

"(I briefly explain some of the games I play with my friends)"

" is that all you do?.... play games?" (gives me strange look)

"…... well we talk about stuff through skype and compare pictures/music/vids and stuff.........(awkward pause).......er well I have to go er...check on a....download....yeah a download anyway bye (run upstairs)"

anyway he hasn't actually said anything so I don't think he minds.

  • 3 weeks later...

My parents will never know. But, I do tell my friends. Of the main 3 of them: I've converted one to the light, the other mocks me, and the last one is neutral. The friend I converted is working on converting his friend.

My parents used to tease me about it when they first figured out that I liked ponies. My Mom was more tolerant, she just basically said "You like what you like." My Dad actually basically said "You like girl stuff, heh." After a while they stopped talking about it, it just became another hobby to them. I could walk around the house holding my Fluttershy plush and they wouldn't care.

Great adventuring for great treasures!....Except when I'm hurt...

I am not even sure my parents are aware that I watch FiM but my mom has walked in on me listening to some of the songs before and hasn't really said anything. I have very accepting parents though so I'm not too worried of what they'll think. I guess we'll see when pony toys start arriving in the mail, eh?

My dad watched yesterday's episode. He's looking forward to watching next week's episode. Oh Iron Will, turning parents into bronies and being Randy Savage incarnate.

I havent told my parents, just because I know they would be really suppotive and tell everyone they know that im a brony. If anything that would embarass me more then if they teased me.

(edited)

My parents never give a crap about what I like. Once I was just like, "Oh yeah, I just watched the entire first season of MLP:FiM today!" and my Mum was just like "Your brains are going to fall out if you look at your computer that long."

So basically she doesn't care at all. My parents make tease me for it. My friends are like "WTH?". And I just amble along in my Pinkie Pie shirt singing songs from the show. Then again, I'm one of those people who don't care what other people think of me, which allows me to do random stuff in public with NO SHAMEEEE XD

My dad: he doesn't mind, but he likes to annoy me by singing the mlp intro

My mom: she doesn't mind me watching it, but she gets mad when my lil bro watches it with me

No, I'm "in the pony closet," if you will, but it's not something that I'll lose sleep over.

I really don't see a need to tell my parents/friends about it... If it does come up though I'll say something like "Yeah, I like it. Don't believe me? Look at the millions of other people who do."

Oh no, I would never tell my any of my friend nor sister... It's too embarrasing to me. :(

Please don't be alarmed with me changing names often, I did it for roleplaying purpose.

My parents found out I'm a brony today. I'd never really kept the information from them, but it'd just never came up before. But now that I've started to try and get my sister into the show, she brought it up with my parents.

As I suspected, they were pretty cool about it. My mother was confused for a bit, but she loves cartoons almost as much as I do, so she wasn't freaked out or anything. My dad surprised me though; he actually knew about the whole brony phenomenon, and just laughed when he found out I was a part of it. Then he brought up how he'd seen a video of Dusty, which made me laugh. We had a discussions about amazing mustaches after that.

I haven't really told my father, but think he would bother anyways, and my friends know I'm a brony, and they where a little "Hmm...." in the beginning, but now there cool about it... at least most of the time, they make fun of it sometimes, but i just laugh with them :)

I'm not hiding my Bronyness form anyone, if i like to post something about Ponies on facebook, i do so, and if i wan't a Ponie pic i my skype, i do so :)

So today I decided I wanted to see the new episode enough to turn the show on while my dad was around. This was his reaction: :o:blink: I can only hope he doesn't give me any reasons to regret this...

Oh, I talked to them for hours about it and the community surrounding it, got them to watch the first four episodes as well. I'm not sure they'll continue watching on their own, but they certainly see a lot of the charm and positive values in it so they've been supportive.

According to some survey somewhere, most like Rainbow Dash. Was not expecting that result but I suppose it makes sense.
